Environmental groups are once again at odds with politicians and fishermen in New England in the wake of a decision by high-end retail giant Whole Foods to stop selling Maine lobster.
Whole Foods recently said that it will stop selling lobster from the Gulf of Maine at hundreds of its stores around the country.
The 'woke' company cited decisions by a pair of sustainability organizations to take away their endorsements of the U.S. lobster fishing industry.
The organizations, Marine Stewardship Council and Seafood Watch, both cited concerns about risks to rare North Atlantic right whales from fishing gear.

Hopefully, "go woke, go broke" will once again apply to this idiocy!!!!!
We have several giant Whole Foods stores here in Austin where I live. I tried to have an open mind and went to them a couple of times. But mostly nasty, over-priced, hippie food. Didn't see anything I had the least bit of interest in on either visit.

We’ll simply get it from elsewhere. Save a lot of money too!

Leftists want to remove man from every eco system they can think of. They hate God who gave man dominion over the earth. They're not saving anything; their goals are to deny people the right to life and liberty and darken the world so that every man is a law unto himself or subjected to their evil power. Some of these people need to know what barbarianism really looks like. Live and in color.

Nothing says “we respect you” more than a bunch of dreadlocked, smelly (do they ever bathe?) shelf stackers and checkout people at Whole Foods who stagger their pot-headed way thru each day hoping for yet another break to drink their whizzed vegan veggie and protein powder drinks.

I thought lobsters were caught in pots???? This leads one to believe they are caught with line and lure....and who really gives a crap about their endorsements anyway?

I have never understood why lobster is considered a delicacy. It tastes like clorinated mush to me.

10, I'm not a lobster fan either unless it's a lobster bisque then I'm in.
Anyway, woke whales aside, there is a real issue with over harvesting various areas and wiping out entire huge schools of some species which we rely on for food.
Years ago tilapia, aka "Vietnamese catfish", was considered a garbage fish unsuitable for human consumption but it's not everywhere because it's easy to farm and the better fish aren't as abundant.
Like rotating farm fields, fishing industry needs to give areas a break to let the fish come back.

Total overrated experience shopping in a Whole Foods store. People who work there are total old hippie freaks that look like they attended Woodstock. Organic vegetables are pathetic looking, dry foods resemble barn hay their premiere wine is 'Two Buck Chuck' I've had better experiences syphoning gasoline in the 1970s. I don't think the Maine lobster industry will suffer that much not doing business with the Charles Manson Family Whole Foods. FWF

You can order shipped and arrive live from Clearwater Lobster Pound (yes, pound is not a typo) in Halifax or Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada. They have a web site.

And how many hundreds of years have we been fishing (trapping) lobster? Based on that those right, I mean white whales should have been gone a long time ago. Do you think the daily mail calls them right because they know for a fact that white whales are racist? As far as Whole Foods is concerned they are just leftest morons.

Last time I bought lobster, it was from another store. I go to Whole Foods as a last resort for things I can't get elsewhere....
...otherwise, I call it Nieman Marcus Foods.

Such well written propaganda. Nowhere is it mentioned exactly what it is about the fishing gear that is threatening the whales. What innovations are being tried to reduce or eliminate the problem, if it exists.

#12, that's Swai fish. Tilapia, also farm raised, are useful as 'sewage cleaners' in murky water. Both are cleanly farmed now tho. (I work the grocer seafood counter - because Bakery was full - and you can have all the marine spiders I won't eat!)

Here I thought that Walmart had the weirdest people working there. They have nothing on Whole Foods. Also I agree with #10. I've never been a lobster fan along with crab legs. Neither taste good to me

Who needs overgrown crawdads from Whole Paycheck, anyway? The ones at Fish Market restaurant are way better, anyway.
