The acting world is mourning the loss of the last surviving member of the 1939 classic Gone With the Wind, Mickey Kuhn. Kuhn - who was just six years old when he played young Beau Wilkes in Gone With the Wind - passed away at a hospice facility in Naples, Florida at 90 years of age, via THR.  His wife Barbara, who he married in 1985, revealed that her husband was in good health until recently. (Photos) Kuhn was born in 1932 in Waukegan, Illinois, though his parents moved him to Los Angeles at a young age, where his father worked as a meat cutter for Safeway.

My favorite movie as well. It was probably ten years or so ago my wife and I toured Margaret Mitchell's house in Atlanta. The Mercedes Benz Foundation had restored it. Got to see her bedroom (with the for-its-time-scandalous portrait Mitchell hung over the bed) and the typewriter she used to write GWTW - complete with flecks of nail polish still visible on the typewriter (she did her nails while typing.)

Wow. The end of an era. GWTW is one of the greats, with some astonishing performances, including Clark Gable who should’ve won an Oscar for his portrayal of Rhett Butler. I also watch it from time to time, and still marvel at the costuming and cinematography. It doesn’t get much better than Vivien Leigh standing in silhouette in the fields at the end of Act I, giving her “As God is my witness…” speech. RIP, Beau.

Up to 10 people have been killed at a Walmart store in Chesapeake, Virginia, after a gunman - believed to be the store manager - opened fire just days before Thanksgiving.  According to witnesses at the scene, one of the managers entered the break room and started shooting at people inside the Sam's Circle Walmart, located just off Battlefield Boulevard, at around 10.10pm on Tuesday night. Police said the gunman was dead when they arrived on the scene but did not confirm whether he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound - though a Walmart employee claimed the shooter turned the gun on himself. First responders found multiple deceased victims

Fox News host Tucker Carlson called out Dr. Anthony Fauci Tuesday evening for “lying about COVID” and failing to answer questions about the virus’s origins following Fauci’s last press briefing at the White House before his retirement. “When the COVID pandemic began in early 2020, everyone wanted to be Tony Fauci. We did and had him on the show, actually, and then he started lying in ways so obvious that you could not ignore it, you began asking what is this about? The guy in charge of the COVID response is lying about COVID, why?” Carlson said. “He lied about herd immunity, then he lied about masks, then he repeatedly lied

Arizona Attorney General Nominee Abe Hamadeh has filed the state’s first statement of election contest in the Arizona Superior Court. An ad from Republican Georgia U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker knocked his Democrat opponent for supporting transgender athletes invading women’s sports. Released Monday with the runoff election two weeks away, the ad featured swimmer Riley Gaines, who famously criticized transgender athlete Lia Thomas after competing against him. “I’m Riley Gaines, a 12-time NCAA All-American,” Gaines said in the ad. Gaines went on to describe her intense training regimen that was no match against a man like Lia Thomas. “For more than a decade, I worked so hard. 4 AM practices to be the best. But in my senior year, I was forced to compete against a biological male,” she said.

President Biden’s granddaughter Naomi’s White House wedding was “a private affair,” and off-limits to the press. Well, except for Vogue. The White House press pool wasn’t allowed into The People’s House, but the fashion magazine got the full spread, the private pics, the kisses, cake cutting and all the pomp and circumstance. The media is furious, but they shouldn’t be surprised. This is a president that rarely does a press conference, that prefers TikTok and Instagram influencers to “60 Minutes.” Of course they pulled a bait-and-switch

The Biden administration will allow employers to invest pension money in green industries that could provide lower returns for Americans. The move which was announced on Tuesday reverses a rule imposed by Trump in 2020 that forced employers to prioritize profit when making 401(k) investments.  The new rule introduced by US Department of Labor will allow retirement plan investors to focus on ESG investing - which considers the environmental and social impacts of investments. The change comes as the average 401(k) in the US is down around 25 percent

President Joe Biden reportedly plans to extend the pause on federal student loan payments through the summer of 2023 as his student debt cancellation plan faces legal challenges. The Department of Education will soon announce the extension of the freeze, according to a report from CNN. The first payments will be due two months after June 30, unless the Supreme Court greenlights the administration’s debt forgiveness program beforehand. A similar report from Bloomberg quoted multiple unnamed sources. Former President Donald Trump introduced the pause on federal student loan repayment in March 2020 as a relief measure during the lockdown-induced recession.

Judge Emmet Sullivan if they could intervene in the case in which Title 42, which has been used to expel over one million migrants to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic, was overturned, according to the request. Sullivan ruled on Nov. 15 that the Biden administration must end the policy in late December, giving them time to prepare for an expected influx of illegal migrants at the southern border.

Did the United States suddenly become a socialist basket case? It’s hard not to come to that conclusion after reading about the endless shortages plaguing the nation. While Biden was busy draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to tamp down gas prices before the midterm elections, the real worry was that supplies of diesel fuel have been running short. Two years after the short-lived COVID lockdowns ended, diesel inventories continued to trend downward

Hey, their Akin strategy worked in New Hampshire, didn’t it? And in Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania too, for that matter. Democrats spent a reported $53 million boosting what Joe Biden calls “ultra-MAGA” candidates into nominations for key Senate and House races in order to protect vulnerable incumbents or open seats. And since that strategy largely worked, we can expect Democrats to try it again in 2024. And who better to promote than the ultra-MAGAiest MAGA of all?
