U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Friday named former federal prosecutor Jack Smith as special counsel for two ongoing criminal investigations by the Department of Justice of former President Donald Trump. Smith’s appointment came three days after Trump, a Republican, announced plans to run for president in 2024. Trump’s move directly led to Garland’s decison to appoint a special counsel, who will recommend whether criminal charges should be lodged against the ex-president. The attorney general was appointed by Biden, a Democrat who defeated Trump in his 2020 re-election bid. Biden could again face Trump again in the 2024 election. CORRECTION*

Prepare for two more years of innocuous information being leaked and presented to a gullible public as ‘evidence’ for crimes that never happened in the first place.
Tedious.

Any remaining doubts that the current administration isn't using the power of the federal government against its political enemies? It doesn't get any more black-and-white than this. Like #3, if for no other reason I'll now vote for Trump merely for spite.

Trump's Tuesday announcement was subdued (for him). It would be right at home at a Heritage chicken 'n peas lunch.
The WaPo admits the nuclear docs thing was untrue.
And then there's this. I think it's all related.
A special counsel investigation can be especially toxic with or without indictments.

Sooooo....the DOJ is going to go where the Congressional didn't and "find" where Trump broke the law. Mm'kay. Sure. Sounds as legitimate as a US election.

There must be a way to stop these relentless malicious prosecutions of President Trump. I'm not a lawyer but surely there is or should be some legal remedy for these endless "investigations" of someone who has emerged innocent in every single one of these witch hunts.

Really? That's rather strange since the FBI quietly admitted that they found nothing with their Maro-Lago raid!!! Article posted on this site stated it yesterday. This creep is really asking for it. Body cam in Pelousi case confirmed that Paul P, opened the door also contradicting the DOJ department. Garlic is really trying to mimic the Soviet style of 'investigation'. Since he is Jewish it's rather strange that he would want to copy those methods considering what his people had to endure under the Soviets. I guess Jews are just addicted to Dem lies.

Yet another after Mid-Term Election surprise announcement. The politicization of the DOJ is now officially complete and on display for all to see. The Democrats are not even tying to hide their use of the DOJ to attack their political enemies.

This is persecution and they had better be careful as two can play the same game. Hillary and Hunter had better hunker down because when Washington goes red, as soon as elections get cleaned up, it ain't going to be fun for the Democrats.

we all know the depth of the politicization of the whole of the federal government is but, this is the most blatant and outright partisan exhibition of that corruption - I couldn't believe it as I watched it on my television and, again, had to restrain myself from throwing one of my couch pillows at the television - I guess I am at the detestation level of how I feel about this federal government

The only legitimate justification for appointing a special prosecutor is when the target is an official in the DoJ. This is to avoid the appearance of a conflict. Since Trump is not in the DoJ the only person that could have a conflict is Garland. He seems to be admitting that he is incapable of overseeing and unbiased investigation of a private American citizen who is presumed innocent. Doesn't this disqualify him from his office since he can't faithfully enforce the laws of the country without bias?

This is nothing but a political witch hunt, and they are using taxpayer money to do it. This using the Dept of Justice and the FBI to go after political opponents, only from the Dems I may add, has somehow got to be stopped. To hell with them all, starting with Biden and Garland.

GOPers should knoow that the establishment media will not be as affirming to a Republican investigation of Hunter or Hillary. After 5 years of continual "investigation", the Dems need to be ordered to back down. If three times prosecuted is triple jeopardy, what would nine times be? By this point Trump has been subjected to exploratory investigation even more times than Nancy has had botox treatments.

This seems to be a clear cut case of election interference by Biden and Garland to keep voters from being able to express their choice for President on election day. It was similar shenanigans that allowed Barack Obama to win his first election after he had the opposition candidates removed from the ballot.
This has formerly been done by third world dictatorships.
Now that Democrats specialize in interfering with and outright stealing of elections, this is their next step. In other countries there would be riots in the streets.
We shall see what transpires now that Biden and Garland have set the dare.
