Meta, the parent company of Facebook, was issued a nearly $25 million fine on Wednesday for violating the state of Washington's campaign finance laws.
Meta was found to be in violation of Washington's political disclosure law 822 separate times between 2019 and 2021, according to court documents. King County Superior Court Judge Douglass North issued the maximum possible fine for each instance, totaling up to $30,000 per violation.
(snip) Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who originally brought the case against Meta, said in the report from the Times that he had "one word for Facebook's conduct in this case – arrogance."

Obviously, the Facebook/Meta bots didn't work as planned. Somehow, about 822 instances of conservative thought not approved by the deep state were able to slip through the expected filters.

Was that judgement against Facebook/Meta the sound of Donald Trump being vindicated about some of his claims, which liberals and the media denied, about coordinated social media election interference?

I am beyond thrilled to see more and more State Attorneys General using the immense power they command to initiate these important lawsuits. While it's easy and reflexive to shrug shoulders, I commend these people for displaying action instead of empty words and promises. These suits get the ball of justice rolling and bring public attention to illegal activity that has heretofore been hidden in the media shadows.
We all know so much disappointment in seeing even the smallest bit of justice prevailing, but that does not diminish the patriotism and personal courage of these AGs.

Be nice if it gets enforced. May not be much money for Facebook, but should make the crooked democrat and Soros types sit up and pay attention.

One state AG successfully brought charges. It's a start. But this behavior has been true everywhere. Meta needs to be charged under RICO as a criminal enterprise and the punishment so egregious that ALL its shareholders rebel.

But, the media assured us that none of these ever happened! And we all know they would NEVER lie to us! Right??

But then again, the Washington State AG is a Democrat. It could be that the Facebook/Meta folks weren't providing the local pols with the required graft.
Back in the days in the Illinois legislature, when the pols were thinking that the graft money from a particular group was less than expected, they would file what was called a "fetcher bill: in the legislature. One way it was explained to me would be if the railroad lobbyists were being particularly stingy, a bill would be filed to require the railroads to re-lay their tracks six inches farther apart. Well, that wasn't practical, but it would provide the intended result. The railroad lobbyists would scurry to the state capitol and catch up on their obligations.
Perhaps this is a modern version of a fetcher bill.
