New York judge has struck down what it calls an "arbitrary and capricious" COVID-19 vaccine mandate for New York City workers, in a ruling that reinstates employees fired for not being vaccinated and entitles them to back pay.
"The petitioners should not have been terminated for choosing not to protect themselves," Richmond County Judge Ralph Porzio wrote in his ruling Monday, in response to the case filed by 16 New York City employees after they were fired for not taking the vaccine.

One of the core strengths of the late, great, sorely missed, Rush Limbaugh was his ability and willingness to constantly reground his listeners concerning basic truths. We tend to forget basics in the heat of political battle, usually to the detriment of conservative causes and candidates.
An excellent current example of this has to do with polling. I cannot believe how many conservative pundits, radio/podcast hosts and writers react to polls early in the season with dismay or even panic. “Beto is within three points of Abbot!” “Fetterman up seven over Oz? How can that be?” The answer is: you’re right, it can't be. It isn't true.

Colorado GOP Senate nominee Joe O'Dea says he will campaign against former President Donald Trump if he were to run for president in 2024.
“I don’t think Donald Trump should run again,” O’Dea said in an interview Sunday on CNN’s "State of the Union." “I’m going to actively campaign against Donald Trump and make sure that we’ve got four or five really great Republicans right now.”
Among those mentioned as potential 2024 GOP presidential candidates are former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The head of the Office of Congressional Ethics was arrested and charged with DUI and three other violations after veering off the road, plowing over a stop sign, hitting one parked car and then another before finally crashing straight into the front porch of a house in Pennsylvania last month, according to police records and the criminal complaint obtained by Yahoo News. (snip) Fernandez told police that Ashmawy offered to pay for the damages if he wouldn’t call the cops, according to the probable-cause affidavit.
“Don’t do that. Don’t don't call the police. Come on. Don’t do that,” Ashmawy said, Fernandez recalled in his interview with Yahoo News.

A top election official in Pennsylvania says the state will disregard the U.S. Supreme Court's guidance on counting mail-in ballots arriving in envelopes with typos or incorrect dates, saying that the state's Commonwealth Court has already established the practice as licit.
Pennsylvania's election laws have historically required voters to include a signature and date on the outside of return envelopes when voting by mail.
However, acting Secretary of State Leigh Chapman announced that Pennsylvania election officials should continue counting ballots that arrive with improperly filled-out envelopes, in accordance with the Commonwealth Court's previous ruling on the matter.

Two FBI officials who briefed Facebook's parent company, Meta, about Hunter Biden's laptop also donated to Democrats in 2020, campaign finance records show.
The findings are connected to a lawsuit from states claiming the federal government colluded with social media firms to censor free speech. And the agents – FBI Foreign Influence Task Force Chief Laura Dehmlow and FBI San Francisco Cyber Division Chief Elvis Chan – are each named in the suit.
A court filing in connection with the suit alleges that Chan and Dehmlow were "involved in the communications between the FBI and Meta that led to Facebook's suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story."

According to The Boston Globe, officials in Martha’s Vineyard are holding an emergency meeting to deal with the crisis of 43 illegal alien arrivals, including one four-year-old child. The group arrived via a chartered flight dispatched by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. According to state representative Dylan Fernandes, “when you look at the limited housing options on Martha’s Vineyard, as I’m sure many of the folks here are aware, it’s likely we’re going to need an off island location.”
