Two leading Republicans wrote a letter Friday to the National Archives demanding communications and documents addressing the possibility Democrats pressured the institution into investigating former President Donald Trump.
House Oversight and Reform Committee Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) wrote the missive, obtained by Breitbart News, to Acting Archivist of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Debra Steidel Wall over the possibility that House Oversight Committee Democrats have pressured NARA into investigating Trump.

Dear Congressman Jordan:
NARA regrets to inform you that as a result of the fire at our offices tomorrow, we are unable to provide you any documents as you requested about what was it that you were asking about, we forget.
Oh yeah, and where do you keep your documents, just in case our friends at the FBI stop by some day when you're not in town?
SIncerely,
NARA ... Now a division of the Deep State Stasi!

It Was Okay For Bill Clinton To Keep Presidential Records, But Not Trump?
FTA: A former president can keep whatever presidential records he wants and the government has no authority to seize them. Period.
That was the Department of Justice’s legal opinion a decade ago. It was a conclusion shared by both the National Archives and a U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. On that basis, ex-president Bill Clinton was allowed to maintain custody of whatever he wanted, including allegedly classified audio tapes that he stored in his home.
Fast forward to August 8, 2022 when Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered a team of FBI agents to raid and forcibly seize presidential records from the home and office of former President Donald Trump. Garland did it because it was Trump, not Clinton. It was purely political and contrary to the established policy of the DOJ, the controlling law under the Presidential Records Act, and the earlier federal court decision.
The 2012 case arose when the organization Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit seeking Clinton’s documents pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act. Litigation ensued to pressure the National Archives into retrieving the materials. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled that control over presidential records rests squarely in the hands of a former president:
“The National Archives does not have the authority to designate materials as ‘presidential records.’ It lacks any right, duty, or means to seize control of them.”

The FBI did not raid Clinton’s home to reclaim records. Nor did the FBI raid former president Barack Obama’s unsecured warehouse where he stored classified documents for the better part of two years. Lawless raids only happen to Republicans.

If you pout the right kind of extreme leftist crazy in charge, no reason to have to pressure him into anything. Leftist crazies naturally do leftist crazy stuff.

this will be an open and shut investigation, the only fly in the ointment will be trying to get the FBI to confess and admit they founded the whole thing and who it was that is responsible and if the hear gets bad enough they will puke all over themselves playing the blame game

I hope a bunch of waste of time investigations is not all we have to look forward to if pubs take the House and Senate. If that's all they plan to give us, can we at least drag our own since no one wants to drag the evil, rotten to the core uniparty?

“Republicans to investigate”… I bet that puts the fear of God into the heart of every democrat, right. Just let me ask, when have Republicans investigated any wrongdoing and it produced a meaningful conviction? They are not concerned with the outcome as much as they are the theater of it all. I am sick of the time and millions wasted for nothing. We need serious men and women who have the drive and determination to seek Justice, not just face time on television.
How do you attempt to work to secure justice when the entire system has been corrupted by partisan politics? The judges are openly biased and to even think a democrat can be prosecuted in the democrat stronghold of Washington DC is folly. The jury is biased before they are seated.
A word to Republicans, do not promise what you cannot deliver. We have had enough of that to last a lifetime.

The upcoming Republican congress can investigate all they want. They don't have prosecutorial power. They need to impeach Garland and Ray, and withhold money from those departments at least until they start cleaning up their act.

Yes they did. The FBI has an agreement with the National Archives for them to share all items seized with the FBI.

Good, but if they can't focus on the economy, and the situation continues to deteriorate, all the investigations in the world will mean nothing.
Biden is already saying that, essentially, "You guys think it's bad now, just wait until the Repubs get the majority! Inflation will soar! Unemployment will climb! Recession will arrive!" So, better be formulating plans to help the American citizens in their economic lives-- and this is with understanding that Biden is still "President" and Congress is somewhat limited in its ability to change policies OTHER THAN cutting the budgets.
I hope they can end the covid "emergency" spending. It is like a gigantic piggy bank for Biden. Crack open that piggy bank and restore to Treasury with the rest of taxpayer monies.
