A pair of well-worn 19th-century Levi’s jeans—featuring a racist slogan—has sold at an auction for $76,000. Kyle Hauper, a 23-year-old vintage clothing collector from San Diego, snapped up the rare jeans dating from the 1880s at the Durango Vintage Festivus auction in New Mexico on Oct. 1. The second-hand jeans—hailed as “the holy grail of vintage denim collecting”—were discovered inside an abandoned mineshaft several years ago and are believed to be one of the oldest known Levi’s from that era. The antique pants are even complete with a vile racist label characteristic of the times.

The New York Post signals its virtue. Anything with the slightest reference to while-centered ethnocentrism is “vile.”

If the oh-so sensitive woke crowd is offended by the words "made by White Labor", perhaps White Labor should go on strike. The way things are going with Joe Dementia; what difference, at this point, does it make? Why should we work? Why should we contribute to the machine? The Feds are arresting pro-lifer's for singing hymns at sit-ins that were lining the halls leading to abortion clinics. Instead of asking them to surrender with their attorneys, they choose early morning home raids. Meanwhile the J6 protesters are nearing 2 years inside the DC Bastille, while BLM and Antifa burned our cities with impunity. Yet today pro-life clinics are firebombed with no investigations started.
They don't like "White Labor"? The don't have to have White Labor.

Just think the NY Post had all White staff back in those days. That's history. This is from a North American Indigenous.

I imagine if the jeans read "The only kind made by black labor" instead, they would still be labled as "Racist".

The people who see racism in everything have barely started on literature and the English language: white-listed, black listed, men in white hats are always the good guys, etc., black mark on his record, the Black Spot to threaten a man in Treasure Island, the black knight is always the bad guy. They still have tons of work to do on our books, especially the classics, but my guess is they don't read that sort of thing. I am surprised that Black Friday still exists.

What does one do with a pair of jeans that costs $76K? Frame them and hang them on the wall?

Obsessed with racism and race, the newsies can’t get enough such stories, while the rest of us couldn’t care less. Racism is OVER for the Right. We are no longer paying any attention to those who see racism everywhere. But go ahead, you racists, and keep on conjuring up imaginary racial offenses. As for the rest of us, we choose to ignore you.

For Heavens sake! What a pearl-clutching, panty-wetting, hyperventilating article. Instead of focusing on the wonder of finding those usable jeans in an old abandoned mine they have to fixate on the stupid pants label. It truly is time to split this country into two. That article author has nothing in common with me or mine.

I think most of us could find something more important to get excited about in our lives than the imprinting of some language on the inside of the pocket of a pair of a hundred and something old pair of jeans, back in my my days, we used to call them "dungarees"

Not "racist". Descriptive. What a bunch of idiots.
I dont like jeans at all and only wear them at work. They are heavy, ugly, and scratchy. I dont care what the age is, I cant get too excited about it. If someone can make some money off them thats fine. I wouldn't take them for free.

I am happy to be white. Seems to me, if you complain constantly about other races, you aren't very happy to be whatever race you are. Just a lifelong observation.

Shame on us 'vile' whites for thinking this is not so 'vile'. Not any different than Levi today making their jeans in Mexico made by Mexicans. I have an old vintage Banana Republic polo shirt made in Vietnam who do you think made that? These wokesters like the NYP are tiring. I'm automatically racist because I don't think it's 'vile' at all. FNYP

#11, I do believe that’s pretty close to what a pair of Levi’s costs today. And, I might add, they’re crap. The last pair I bought (probably 20 years ago), were about as heavy as a pair of flannel pajamas. Not a good work item.

News outlets nationwide hail efforts where black people are encourage to shop at black-owned stores, retail outlets (Target among them) label products made by black-owned businesses, and there's even a clothing line named FUBU, which stands for "for us, by us" (for and by black people specifically). That's not even remotely racist; in fact it's proud. But a Levi's label purportedly from the 1880s says the product is being made by White people instead of Chinese slave labor and that's vile racism.
