Going to Lucianne.com this morning, as I do every morning, I was shocked and saddened to read that its proprietor, Lucianne Goldberg, has passed away:
Dear L Dotters.
We are heartbroken. Our beloved Lucianne passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones in her own home, the way she wanted. But she has left a whole in our lives that we can never fill completely.
Lucianne was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a patriot who expressed her love of this country with both political fierceness and penetrating wit.

Meghan Markle said she’s afraid to speak her mind or be clear about what she needs for fear of sounding “demanding” and being perceived as an “angry black woman.”
During Spotify’s “Archetypes” podcast on Tuesday, the host Markle spoke with actress Issa Rae and comedian/actress Ziwe Fumudoh about her reluctance to be more assertive. The episode is titled “Upending the ‘Angry Black Woman’ Myth.”
Markle is biracial. Her father is white, and her mother is black.

The White House on Wednesday defended Pennsylvania Democrat Senate candidate Lt. Governor John Fetterman after his disastrous debate performance on Tuesday evening.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during the daily briefing that President Joe Biden was fully supportive of Fetterman’s campaign.
“The president has found him to be impressive, incredibly bright and talented person who’s just as capable as always to carry out the duties of his office,” she said, referring to “personal conversations” that Biden experienced with Fetterman.

At this point, it would save everyone time if Democrats could simply point to a policy agenda item that isn’t going to save democracy — if such a thing exists.
If Republicans vote, they are killing democracy. If they don’t vote, they are killing democracy. The only way to “save democracy,” writes The Washington Post’s Max Boot, is to empower one-party rule — a position that probably sounds counterintuitive to anyone with a middle-school education. “Now you need to vote to literally save democracy again,” contends President Joe Biden, or we will lose our “fundamental rights and freedoms like the right to choose, the right to privacy, the right to vote

A mainline Protestant denomination recently announced that it will be adding a "nonbinary/genderqueer" category to its annual report regarding church demographics. The Office of General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), which is the largest Presbyterian denomination in the U.S., said Tuesday that it is making a series of changes regarding how it records the number of congregations and membership statistics in the denomination, according to a press release.

Just as one probably shouldn't bring a knife to a gunfight, Democrats probably shouldn't have brought a 400-pound human vegetable incapable of processing the English language to a live political debate against a professional television star who just so happened to cut his teeth as a world-renowned cardiothoracic surgeon.
John Fetterman had no other options. After suffering a debilitating stroke, Fetterman has been mostly supplanted on the campaign trail by his wife and substitute Senate candidate Gisele. Lady McFetterman, whom Joe Biden already declared would be a "great lady in the Senate," went apoplectic on an NBC reporter who pointed out that the former mayor of Braddock's speech processing

The four teenagers killed in a Buffalo car crash while attempting a TikTok challenge encouraging car theft have been identified — with a young mom among the victims.
Marcus Webster, 19, Swazine Swindle, 17, Kevin Payne, 16, and Ahjanae Harper, 14, were killed when the stolen Kia they were riding in crashed Monday morning, ejecting them and one other passenger, WGRZ reporter Claudine Ewing confirmed Tuesday.
The driver, 16, was treated at the hospital and released, while a fifth passenger, a 14-year-old girl, is listed in good condition at Erie County Medical Center.
In a video shared on Twitter, a local says Harper had recently welcomed a baby girl.

Democrat candidate John Fetterman and Republican candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz squared off in the Pennsylvania Senate debate Tuesday evening.
Fetterman waited until the last minute to debate Oz because he can barely speak after his massive stroke in May.
John Fetterman used a monitor to help him through Tuesday night’s debate and he still fell apart.

Of course Jeremy Pelofsky and Christine Grimaldi want people to meet their new baby. This is their only child, after all, the long-awaited first grandkid on either side. But first, some ground rules. The visit will take place in the backyard. Anyone who wants to come over will need to take a rapid coronavirus test. And if guests want to hold the baby or go inside to use the bathroom, they’ll be asked to wear a mask. (Snip) Pelofsky and Grimaldi are among the Americans who are still going very far out of their way to avoid the virus. They

I can recall the Trump administration being full of content as a writer for a conservative news site and commentary. Because someone was always worrying about the past president, there was always something to talk about. I was worried about Joe Biden’s inauguration, as it was too boring.
What content can a nearly 80-year-old man offer? Biden’s boon would be a huge boon, and I was wrong. Biden has been an absolute goldmine and again provided more food for thought for those who prefer a president who can communicate.

Two weeks before the most important off-year elections in the history of the nation isn’t a good time for Democrats to realize that the narrative that they’ve been relentlessly pushing has been a complete failure, but that’s the reality for a party that bet everything on portraying the January 6, 2021 chaos at the Capitol as a serious effort to overthrow “democracy” and is only now beginning to realize that voters could care less.
The unwelcome intrusion of reality into the bubble inhabited by the coastal cultural and political elite isn’t sitting well with many, including MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough who was flummoxed by the responses of a focus group

Nearly half of all vote-by-mail ballots in Pennsylvania had already been cast before Tuesday night’s U.S. Senate debate, which was judged a disaster — even by Democrats — after Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D), recovering from a stroke, struggled to form coherent sentences.
Fetterman had sought to avoid a debate, and his campaign has restricted his public appearances.. When he finally agreed to one, Democrats sought to delay the debate until ballots were already being cast by mail, since Democrats are more likely to use that method and more of the party’s vote would already be cast.
