Fans of the late Steve Irwin have started a petition nominating the television star to replace King Charles III on new $5 bills when they are issued Down Under.
Petitioners Vincent Wu and Kirby Miles are driving the move now listed on the Australian Parliament House website to elevate the globally admired zookeeper, conservationist, television personality, wildlife expert, and environmentalist.
Queen Elizabeth II was first featured on the first $5 paper note in 1992 and also appeared on Australia’s first $5 polymer note.
The late monarch features on the current version and by tradition was due to be replaced by King Charles III.

Irwin was probably a good guy. But I'm sure Auatralia produced more worthy men in the course of two world wars who would be more suited to coinage.

It’s Australia’s privilege to determine who will be on their coins. So what is the big deal?

Good choice! Steve Irwin was great. Maybe the Aussies are recovering from their Covid insanity.

He ran around in the mud wrestling alligators. He was great at it and built a wonderful zoo. But I find his family, especially the daughter, annoying. Just me, I know, and I'm not Australian, but come on, Steve on the money??

What a great idea. I move that we in the USA follow this great idea and put Whoopi Goldberg on the $1, Beyonce on the $5, Oprah on the $10, Kim Kardasian on the $20, Barbara Streisand on the $50, and Michael Moore on the $100.
At the rate that Senile Joe bidet is killing the value of American currency more and more by the day due to runaway inflation, it might as well all be huge jokes!!!!! Pretty soon all it's going to be good for is wiping your hiney after a nice bowel movement anyway!!!

Steve Irwin always struck me to be a publicity hogging hyperactive dunce, who died in a terrible, stupid way, seeking more fame.
I remember seeing him at a crocodile farm, holding his little baby out, above the crocs, at feeding time. The little baby is now the annoying grown up.

Aussies used to pride themselves on self-deprecating humor and a good laugh. The had a sincer depth of appreciation for beer. Once the liberals too over, that part of their personality died.

The flip side of the coin should honor the stingray and read “In Barb, We Trust.”

I live in Australia and that’s news to me. Don’t believe everything you read. Oh and #1 I’d be really careful about calling people names because we could all call your president even more colourful names than that.

Hmmm. Why don't they remember him as "Stingray Hunter"? I was never impressed with Irwin. Foolish, flashy stuff looking to look good on TV, not really doing things the best way.
And eventually, it got him.

Do a coin toss.
Reply 10; You Aussies are welcome to call any names you can come up with for that foul stench in the Oval Office. I sure wouldn’t mind.

The $5 paper or coinage will have to be larger and more cumbersome to allow for King Dork's large ears.
Really Australia a zookeeper? Why not a kangaroo head profile that would be just as good.
