Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) wanted regulatory reform, in part to reverse some of the Biden Administration reversals of Trump era reforms intended to expedite permits for fossil fuel projects. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) needed Manchin’s vote in the 50-50 Senate to enact his latest spending extravaganza, the Inflation Reduction Act, which was primarily a massive climate and “green” energy subsidy arrangement. It gives Schumer allies some $370 billion in wind, solar, battery and other funding, tax credits and subsidies. In exchange, Schumer would offer a path for Manchin’s reform bill.

Arizona Cardinals All-World defensive end JJ Watt said his heart went into “A-Fib,” or atrial fibrillation, on Wednesday and had to be shocked back into rhythm. Here’s his Tweet: I was just told somebody leaked some personal information about me and it’s going to be reported on today. I went into A-Fib on Wednesday, had my heart shocked back into rhythm on Thursday and I’m playing today. That’s it.

Former President Donald Trump reiterated his support for applying the death penalty to drug dealers in a bid to curb the illicit trafficking of narcotics in the United States. Speaking on the "Cats at Night" program with host John Catsimatidis, the former president blamed the Biden administration for an unprecedented surge of both illegal migration and illicit drug trafficking at the U.S. border with Mexico. "They opened up the border, day one, they opened up the border," he said, adding that "through open borders come drugs... and the drugs have never been as bad as they are now."

In the video below I go over a telling moment in culture as government policy changes and it reveals their past deception. The lack of complex thinking in mainstream journalism is becoming more evident as governments begin to back track on their simplistic and reductionist narratives around COVID. We are in a society where we are also reducing all of our examination of our world to only logical thought, causing us to fail in connecting with each other as complex beings. This is a concerning and ‘sleepy’ trend our society is on.

Something really strange just happened. On Monday, large underwater “explosions” were detected in the precise areas of the sea where the Nord Stream pipeline system is now leaking. In fact, the explosions were so large that they actually registered on the Richter scale. If someone wanted to purposely damage the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, very large explosions would be needed because those pipelines are extremely thick. So it appears that this was a deliberate act of sabotage, and that is what many European officials are now alleging. But if that is the case, who was behind it?

Dr. Jordan Peterson has posted a blistering (and characteristically artful) reprimand aimed at Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal. Peterson’s Twitter account was suspended back in June after he made comments about the “transition” of actress Ellen Page. Page (who now goes by Elliot) underwent a double mastectomy before proudly “coming out” as a man to the public. Peterson questioned the logic of women having perfectly healthy breasts removed for cosmetic purposes.

As we observed the 21st anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday, two thoughts came to mind: First, of course, remembering the thousands of heroes and victims who perished on that awful day. Second, recalling how much we got wrong in the aftermath. President George W. Bush addressed the nation on September 20, 2001, fingering the terrorist group al-Qaeda and its leader Osama Bin Laden as the culprits for the attacks. This would lead to America’s longest war in Afghanistan where we ultimately accomplished nothing, and a long war in Iraq that was just as pointless and had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11.

It’s getting harder and harder not to abandon faith in the institutions we once regarded as respectable and relied on to keep the country moving. It is harder still to avoid rejecting unequivocally what has become their core governing premises, which seem to be entirely different from what we once believed them to be. So here goes: the entire “climate crisis” is an opportunistic hoax; the entire “equity” (along with “diversity” and “inclusion”) movement is a corrupt fraud. This hoax and this fraud have permeated and overwhelmed every formerly respectable sector of American life, with disastrous consequences we’ve only just begun to feel.

California's statewide teachers union undermined White House talking points that redirect blame to Republicans for COVID-19 school closures that erased two decades of progress on math and reading scores and worsened racial learning gaps. Public records posted by grassroots group Reopen California Schools show the California Teachers Association (CTA) launched a research effort in spring 2021, in coordination with allied parents, to sniff out the "ideological leaning" of funding sources for the Parent Association, which had sued to reopen schools that February.

Rep. Mark Pocan, a Wisconsin Democrat, is pushing legislation that would establish a national museum of American LGBTQ+ History and Culture in the nation’s capital. The lawmaker has filed bills that would establish a commission to study the potential creation of the museum and house it within the Smithsonian Institution. The eight-member commission would have 18 months to study the viability of creating and constructing the museum in Washington. Mr. Pocan, who is gay, said the LGBT community must be able to tell its stories. “As our community faces unprecedented attacks and attempts to erase our history, we must preserve and protect our stories for future generations,”

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a law Friday that will decriminalize jaywalking across California, ending the familiar practice of police handing out tickets to pedestrians on the argument that the law is enforced more often against minorities than other people. The new law, AB 2147, known as the “Freedom to Walk Act,” could bring an end to a cultural difference that has marked otherwise libertine Californians as being uniquely deferential to laws governing pedestrian traffic. The difference between Californians, who ostensibly tend to obey “don’t walk” signals, and urban dwellers elsewhere in the country, who are notoriously defiant when it comes to crossing against traffic signals, was lampooned

As reported by The New York Post, China has opened dozens of “overseas police service stations” around the world to monitor its citizens living abroad, including one location in New York City and three in Toronto. Never-learning Europe is home to most of the police stations, including locations in London, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Paris, Madrid, and Frankfurt.

WASHINGTON — Republicans are abandoning their long crusade to repeal the Affordable Care Act, making the 2022 election the first in more than a decade that won’t be fought over whether to protect or undo President Barack Obama’s signature achievement. The diminished appetite for repeal means the law — which has extended health care coverage to millions of people and survived numerous near-death experiences in Congress and the courts — now appears safer than ever. With slightly more than a month before the next election, Republicans in Congress and on the campaign trail aren’t making an issue of Obamacare.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is still missing Trump administration records that it sought after the former president's term ended, the agency said in a letter on Friday. 'The National Archives has confirmed to the Oversight Committee that they still have not received all presidential records from the Trump White House,' Acting Archivist Debra Steidel Wall said. Wall said the Department of Justice (DOJ) would be consulted about whether 'to initiate an action for the recovery of records unlawfully removed' by White House officials. Further information about what action could be taken remains unclear, but the DoJ's warning raises the specter of another potential raid

German Federal Economy Minister Robert Habeck expressed concern over the looming energy crisis this winter, telling German media that the situation was extremely tense and there is a possibility that Germany may run out of gas. Habeck spoke on Friday, appealing to Germans to reduce their consumption of natural gas ahead of this winter a day after the German government launched a new price break programme to help Germans with the rising costs of energy. The new price break policy will cover 80 per cent of regular consumption in a bid to try and get Germans to use less gas and make the scenario of shortages less likely.

There’s always some mystery in the news that provides a blank page for fantasy thinking. This week’s mystery has initiated a storm of speculation: What happened to cause leaks in Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and 2, designed to send gas to Germany? The speculation runs from rational to delusional. A good example of more rational speculation is by Jed Babbin at the Spectator: He thinks Russia is the most likely suspect: Germany, Sweden, the United States, and other NATO nations would not have attacked the pipelines. There has been some speculation among U.S. conservatives that we were responsible for the pipeline attacks.

But a member of Truss' Cabinet said the government and palace were in agreement about the decision.

Former President Jimmy Carter turned 98 on Saturday and celebrated in Plains, Georgia — where he was born in 1924, while Calvin Coolidge was in office. Carter, who has lived longer than any other president in US history, marked the occasion with his family, including wife Rosalynn, 95. He attended a parade in Plains and watched from a wheelchair. A picture posted by the Carter Center showed Carter smiling and observing the parade from a wheelchair. That evening, he was likely to watch his favorite team, the Atlanta Braves, on television as they battled for the top spot in the National League East, his grandson said.
