President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency for Florida on Saturday as Tropical Storm Ian gained strength and barreled toward the Sunshine State. Biden’s declaration came after he delayed a trip to southern Florida scheduled for Tuesday, when he was set to discuss health care in Fort Lauderdale and then attend a Democratic National Committee event in Orlando, the Miami Herald reported. The declaration authorizes the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA to coordinate disaster relief efforts and provide assistance, according to the White House. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a state of emergency and mobilized the state’s National Guard earlier in the day as Ian gained strength.

Comments:

Oh, please Mr President, change your mind, or whatever, and come to Florida. How can we endure yet another 'caine without your word salad and expertise on disasters?
At least send, VP Harris: she would be at least entertaining.

Tropical storm. Three or four days from landfall. High altitude wind shear estimated to keep from building to high strength. Too soon to tell.

Probably because his staff told him that the storm was veering to the right (and not the left).

We'll see. Funny thing about Floridians is, if a storm is anything CAT3 or below, we're more likely to have a hurricane party. We're just weird like that, I guess. I only mention this because I'm a little on the fence about the whole thing: on one hand it's probably not very wise to underestimate something like a hurricane. But, on the other hand, Floridians have been through worse, much worse. Plus, a native or long-time Floridian is going to be very familiar with tropical storms (otherwise known as "a rain with a name") and hurricanes and, as a result, are typically well-prepared already. My advice: use your common sense (of course) but take a look at what your native or long-time neighbors are doing. They are NOT new to this.

The far-left state of California further embraced neo-paganism this week when Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law allowing the practice of composting dead human beings to better combat climate change. Citing the high CO2 emissions associated with cremation, the bill will give people the option to give their dead remains over to a process known as natural organic reduction (NOR) should they not want to be buried or cremated. “The process involves placing the body inside a long, reusable steel container along with wood chips and flowers to aerate it – allowing microbes and bacteria to break down the remains,” according to the Daily Mail.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) officially introduced Articles of Impeachment against President Biden on Monday for selling off our Strategic Oil Reservices to the highest bidder which will almost certainly include our enemies. Greene’s move follows the Department of Energy announcing on Monday that it is auctioning off 10 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). “I just introduced Articles of Impeachment on President Joe Biden. Joe Biden is selling our strategic petroleum reserves. This should never happen. He is draining our reserves and selling our oil. American’s oil to foreign countries and China is a top buyer,” Greene stated in a video released on Twitter.

It may be time to pass on gas. The more than 40 million households in the US who use a gas stove might want to consider an alternative. New findings have shown that gas stoves — even when turned off — may cause asthma in children and put adults at risk of cancer. Dr. Jonathan Levy, an environmental health professor at Boston University, claimed the stoves may pollute the air with nitrogen dioxide, which can cause lung damage. The pollutant, a “byproduct of fuel combustion,” is also the same that is produced on major highways, but since the kitchen is an enclosed space, it puts inhabitants at more risk.

Joe Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ is not working as planned, or is it? Gas prices are at record highs, the economy is in recession, parents are having difficulty finding a baby formula, and the cost of everything is way up. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), there are currently no nationwide food shortages in the country. “There are currently no nationwide shortages of food, although in some cases the inventory of certain foods at your grocery store might be temporarily low before stores can restock,” the agency said on their website. “Food production and manufacturing are widely dispersed throughout the U.S. and there are currently no wide-spread

Posted on September 11, 2022 by John Hinderaker in Electric vehicles, Energy Policy, Environment Down With Electric Vehicles! Are people finally starting to catch on to the fact that electric vehicles are a terrible idea? I hope so. Bjorn Lomborg makes the case in accessible form in the Wall Street Journal. To begin with, EVs don’t even save much on CO2 emissions: Over its lifetime, an electric car does emit less CO2 than a gasoline car, but the difference can range considerably depending on how the electricity is generated. Making batteries for electric cars also requires a massive amount of energy, mostly from burning coal in China.

People who heat their homes above a certain temperature in Switzerland during the Winter face fines and potentially up to three years in prison if energy rationing measures are put in place. Under proposed legislation in the home of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Swiss lawmakers are preparing to set legal limits on the use of heating during the winter should the country face energy shortages. Under the plans, gas-heated buildings would be capped at 19C (66.2F) and water heating up to 60C (140F). Saunas and swimming pools would also be forced by government diktat to remain cold.

I have had to recalibrate my belief system. The “crime” fell quite a bit short of murder. Governor DeSantis doesn’t have to announce yet. The contenders for the nominations are former president Trump or DeSantis. Everybody else is an also-ran. Trump, should he decide to run, can count on residual loyalty. DeSantis can appeal to voters as a younger, more vital, less controversial, and arguably more politically savvy alternative. Trump commands attention, but that attention tends to draw focus to himself. DeSantis commands attention, but
