House Republicans vowed to immediately 'repeal 87,000 IRS agents' and launch a series of investigations, including into the 'weaponization of the DOJ,' if they retake the House come November.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy paraded a group of prominent House members, including Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, to roll out the House GOP's 'Commitment to America,' in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, a town located southeast of Pittsburgh.
'Our job is to work for you, not go after you,' McCarthy pledged to the crowd, mentioning that the No. 1 legislative priority was to roll back funds slated to go toward the Internal Revenue Service included in the Inflation Reduction Act.
And one thing they can do to set the FBI back on track is move the FBI headquarters out of Pennsylvania Ave to Prince George’s County, MD to break up the criminal relationship it has developed with DoJ liberals.

Day 1, they will repeal the 87,000 agents, like Day 1, they all said they would repeal Obamacare. Why do Republicans have to win back anything to launch investigations of anything they want? Are Republicans only allowed to work, and on things, then only after getting permission from Democrats? Democrats use state legislatures, state AG's. Are the Republicans unable to coordinate and work with their fellow Republicans on the state level? The Democrats use all federal agencies for voter drives for Democrats, PBS, NPR, and numerous slush funds that Republicans voted for, to get out their vote. Does the Republican Party have any get out the vote initiatives for Republicans, and why can' t they get those paid by taxpayers, the way the Democrats are doing? We keep being told about all the Republican judges. Where are they? Do they have any lawsuits in their jurisdictions? We were told there were thousands of lawyers lined up for the last Presidential election, if there was any problem. I guess there was no problem, as we never saw any, which makes me ask, do the Republicans have any actual lawyers, or were this all fake, like Twitter bots? Elon Musk, will you please buy the Republican Party, so we can get answers?

The GOP are big talkers when they have no power. Why did some Republicans vote for the new 87K IRS 'agents' if they are now going to unvote for them should they suddenly regain power? Remember what they said about Obamacare. They voted in both houses of Congress to get rid of Ocare when Obama was president, knowing full well he would veto it. Once they had all the power during Trump's tenure, they couldn't get the job done. How conveeeeeeeenient! Same thing will happen with the IRS. They threaten but never follow through. Besides, the Dems have everything in place to steal both houses of Congress in November and the GOP will walk away meekly and do nothing. As long as the GOP leadership keep their seats, that is all that matters to them. They are happy being the minority party.

Sorry, but I'm not holding my breath. Too many RINO's (like when John McPain single-handedly killed the repeal of Ovomit-care). Plus too many wishy-washy DC sewer creature mainstream Republi-Can'ts who just try to "play nice" when they get the majority.
God, I truly hope and pray that the MAGA Republicans will have enough of an effect that they will actually do some of this stuff. But, like I said, I'm not holding my breath...

Probably can't get anything past Joe's veto, so nothing will happen as far as new laws reversing the harm already done until we can control the Presidency.

The House has the Power of the Purse. That is not affected by a veto from the Executive Branch. Just deny the funds - IRS, Green Energy, Student Loans - the works.

The Republicans also falsely vowed to give us back the incandescent light bulbs taken from us by President Boy George. They also never got around to pulling government funding from Planned Parenthood, the United Nations, NPR, PBS, and other radical leftist groups. We still have a Department of Education and an Environmental Protection Agency, we still have ethanol in our gasoline, still have a aide-open border and no control over citizenship (reversing birthright citizenship and chain migration, for starters), and many other things the Republicans pretend not to like when campaign season rolls around. We've been falling for this for many years and there are no signs that it will stop.

I'll believe it when I see it.
What is more likely, Congress will announce impeachment proceedings against Trump the day he wins the 2024 election.

Has Mitch McConnel signed off on this House GOP plan? I doubt he will accept this in the Senate. Mitch needs to GO!

Megadittos, #6.
After the Repubs retake the House, they should defund every stupid or harmful spending priority of the Democrats, including:
IRS
Green Energy
Student Loans
DOJ/FBI
Covid Vaccines
CRT
Tolerance of Illegal Immigration
Climate Change/AGW/Electric cars
Also, they should investigate criminal wrongdoing in Congress, the FBI/DOJ, Big Tech, Election Fraud, etc etc etc.
Question is, will M&M (McConnell and McCarthy) do any of that, or simply make some worthless noise?

Can't repeal anything without the numbers to override a veto. I wish it weren't so, but we won't likely win that many seats.

Believe and hope as you will, however McConnell will do as he always has done-- operate as a Democrat except for judge appointments.

My husband is a retired CPA. He told me he'd be surprised if the IRS can find 87,000 out-of-work accountants. At best, newly minted CPAs would work for the IRS for a few years before moving into the private sector.

Aiming low as usual. We need abolishment of agencies, not reductions. The dems add 87k, so the Pubs subtract 87k, but we're still left with a bloated IRS. Win win for the uni-party. Make it make sense.

How about passing some laws that will jail DOJ employees when they violate citizens' rights.
Set up a Department of Citizens Rights that has police and arrest power of government officials. This would also apply to members of the Judiciary with a separate court system for adjudication similar to military style court system.

Why not step up and vow to dismantle the IRS entirely? Taxes should be very simple, people and companies should not have to alter their rational economic decisions based on the crooked political whims of the tax code, and the many industries that exist to deal with the tax code produce nothing but drag in the economy, except to the tax attorneys and tax accountants. Is that too far out of the box for you, Rep. McCarthy?
