Ebola has spread almost 50 miles through rural communities in Uganda - with cases clustered near a busy road leading from the capital Kampala to the Democratic Republic of Congo, health officials revealed on Thursday. Doctors are scrambling to mount a response to a relatively rare form of the highly contagious deadly hemorrhagic fever, which leaves people vomiting blood and has no approved vaccine. “As of today, we have seven confirmed cases of whom we have one confirmed death,” Lt. Col Dr Kyobe Henry Bbosa, who is currently leading Uganda's Ebola response, told journalists. “But we also have seven probable

Spent 6 years working in West Africa. It is impossible to explain West Africa to any westerner. There are no words. You have to be there. Coming up the stairs to an Air France jet behind a well dressed black guy who told the stewardess " Shut the door and get my black ass back to Dallas."

Whenever I hear about an Ebola outbreak in Africa I recall the big outbreak during the Barry O years and how he imported some Ebola patients to the US because it wasn’t fair that only Africa was suffering.

On the last Ebola go-around, we were lucky that this fatal, contagious sickness would show symptoms either before or at the same time that a patient became contagious. Imaging the spread, and the deaths, if it were to become contagious BEFORE a person showed symptoms! There would have been 'Hades' to pay! Let us hope that the Chicoms never figure out how to combine the Ebola lethality with being contagious before symptoms appear.

Washington — During a campaign-style Friday speech at a Democratic National Committee event in Washington, President Joe Biden boasted about the three-month decline in gas prices and about the unemployment rate. But he used inaccurate figures on both subjects. (Snip) Facts First: Biden’s claim about average gasoline prices was false, as the White House acknowledged by correcting the official transcript after CNN inquired about the claim on Friday afternoon. In fact, zero states have an average price under $2.99 per gallon, figures from GasBuddy and the American Automobile Association show. As the correction notes, Biden got a key digit wrong:

California is committing to a plan that will make it the first US state to phase out gas-fueled furnaces and water heaters in homes, a move environmentalists are betting will provide a template for other states. The Golden State will ban the sale of all new natural gas-fired space heaters and water heating appliances by 2030, under a proposal unanimously approved by the California Air Resources Board on Thursday. “We’re really hopeful that this is the beginning of a domino effect and other states will follow California’s lead,” said Leah Louis-Prescott, a senior associate at RMI , a non-profit focused

New England is approaching what grid officials and utility executives expect to be a very pricey winter for energy consumers and one that risks a shortage of energy during extended periods of extreme cold. It's not an unfamiliar forecast for the region, where cold temperatures and natural gas pipeline constraints have a record of driving supply tightness, and thereby driving prices up, during cold winter months. But this year, those pipeline constraints are overlaid by extremely competitive energy markets globally and fuel commodity prices that are already higher than normal going into winter. That's led to warnings that $1,000 monthly

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot fired back at the CEO of McDonald’s after he highlighted the difficulty rising crime in the city has caused for his business, telling him he needs to "educate himself" on the matter. Donald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski warned in a speech at the Economic Club of Chicago luncheon last week that it was time to "face facts" and acknowledge that companies have been leaving the city over the past

The good news for President Biden is that his national approval rating is on the rise, including in our recent NBC News poll (where it inched up from 42% in August to 45% this month among registered voters). The bad news for him is that his standing remains in historically perilous territory for the party holding the White House, especially in key battleground states. Three different Georgia polls released this week — via CBS News, Marist and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution — find the state’s Senate race between incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., and GOP challenger Herschel Walker within the margin

If you thought parts shortages couldn't get any worse for the auto industry than they did last year, then it's time to hit reset. We've seen multiple car companies, including international giants like Honda and Toyota, struggle to deliver vehicles simply because they can't source the components they need. The same is true with Ford, which announced this week that up to 45,000 vehicles will be held in its inventory this quarter until they receive essential parts—mainly chips. The Blue Oval has made use of Kentucky Speedway's many lots to store its many trucks until they can be sent

However, Johnson has since closed the gap, and recent polling — including a Spectrum News-Siena College poll also released on Tuesday — showed the candidates within 1 percentage point of each other. President Biden shocked viewers of his Friday speech to teachers when he recognized an audience member and told the crowd, “She was 12, I was 30.” Biden lit up social media with the confounding and seemingly inappropriate aside. He did not say what he did when he was 30 and the woman was a preteen. “You gotta say hi to me,” Biden said mid-speech at the National Education Association headquarters in DC. “We go back a long way. She was 12, I was 30. But anyway, this woman helped me get an awful lot done.” The audience of teachers and union members laughed and cheered at the bawdy remark.

When you buy groceries or pay your electricity bill, you might wonder, “Can I afford this?” Millions of Americans are asking that question because Democrats’ reckless government spending has led to record inflation and driven us into a recession. When you watch the local news, you may feel less safe in your community. You aren’t alone. Under the Biden administration, we’ve experienced the deadliest years for violent crime and drug overdoses. Just as we see the rule of law breaking down in our cities, we’re seeing it break down on our border.
