Gas prices are down, providing a boon for Democrats in November. But food prices remain sky-high, giving Republicans an opening to keep inflation a top-of-mind issue in the midterms.
The price of food at the grocery store is expected to increase by up to 11 percent this year with the cost of beef, poultry, milk, eggs and fruit driving the surge. Prices could shoot even higher with droughts affecting crops and a potential rail workers strike halting shipments needed for both food and crop production.
The government’s latest Consumer Price Index report released Tuesday shows overall food prices continued to rise, by 0.8 percent in August. That’s slightly down

You’re an idiot, Garrett. There my be some democrat/independent/moderate voters that think gas prices being slightly lower in certain areas means that the democrat party is doing a good job, but the vast majority of the public know exactly who has put us into this mess in every faction of our lives. But hey, Halloween is coining up. Might as well whistle past the graveyard.

With energy costs super high, and with fertilizer made, at least in part, from natural gas, and diesel used for plowing, harvesting and transporting food.....there is guaranteed to be high prices unless the Climate Scammers stop throttling our energy production.

Politico mocking Oz for hsving mentioned the “high cost of crudités”. Anyone who doesn’t know that that means cut up raw vegetables served as a healthy snack or appetizer should own a dictionary. Do we really need to reduce our language to Dick and Jane and Spot…?

I joked with the dentist after my recent cleaning. He said one way to prevent cavities is don't eat food. I mentioned the cost I incurred to get to his office. It was gallows humor.

I’ve seen 20% to 40% on many processed food items. A $1 item that was $1.20 now it’s $1.40, all in the last 6 months. Potatoes are up almost 50%. Some items have reduced weight or count trying to fool people the unwary customer, a bag of 50 is now 45 etc. Same with electricity, the base rate hasn’t changed, but purchased power is 20% higher. The administration has no clue. It thinks the only thing consumers worry about is gas prices. That’s just one item on the budget.

Inflation are two sides of the same coin. Like a balloon, inflation will expand the economy, until it crashes, and deflates.

The fights will break out when you see a stranger stealing from your backyard garden, and strangers knocking on your door for food. And we think racoons are pesky!

We haven’t seen anything yet. The grocery store cooked chicken has gone from $5.99 to $7.99. I was never great at math but even I know that’s more than 8.3%. Gasoline is a buck more a gallon than it was three years ago. That’s a hell of a lot more than 8.3%. I am an old man and I remember prices soaring under Jimmy Carter’s one unfortunate term. Wait! What party did he also belong to? I forget. We are governed by the most inept bunch of fools and rabid socialists this country has ever seen. They will also ruthlessly rig elections now because they know honest elections will put them out of power for years to come. True the vote is our only salvation and the Dems realize that without election fraud they are toast. The midterms will be rife with blatant fraud by Democrats. Do everything thing you can to support honest elections...everything.

I paid 5.85 a gallon today in California. If that’s down what the hell is up?

Re #13, I am bitching about paying more than $2.50 a gallon less than you. It's still too high at $3.19. We were paying about $1.89 a few years back.
The official "inflation market basket" has been steadily adjusted for years to remove rapidly inflating things and therefore to understate the actual inflation rate. You can be assured that the government's "official" inflation numbers are lies. Carefully and artfully crafted lies.

Bought 50 lbs of rice and 25 lbs of beans today. May be handy to have in a year or three.
