The CEO of a luxury furniture retailer has claimed it is 'crazy' to think the US economy is not in recession, as household wealth fell by a record $6.1 trillion in the second quarter.
'I don't know, people keep saying, are we going to be in a recession? We're in a recession,' said Gary Friedman, the chief executive of RH, formerly known as Restoration Hardware, in an investor call on Thursday.
'Anybody who thinks we're not in a recession is crazy. The housing market is in a recession, and it's just getting started. So it's probably going to be a difficult 12 to 18 months in our industry,' he said.

King Charles III's warring sons Prince William and Harry along with their wives Kate and Meghan Markle all appeared dressed in black at Windsor Castle this evening as they went on a 40-minute walkabout inspecting the sea of floral tributes laid outside the gates of the royal estate in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were greeted by applause as they walked along the gates of Windsor Castle together as they honoured the legacy of Her Majesty - temporarily putting aside the differences sparked by Megxit which have fractured the Royal Family and

In early September, Joe Biden delivered what has now been dubbed his “red speech.” Somehow, the content managed to be worse than the presentation. The president railed against “MAGA Republicans,” declaring them enemies of the state and a threat to the republic.
Truly, it was the most obscene speech a president has given since the popularization of modern national addresses. Far from being a unifying figure, Biden chose to drive a knife through the heart of the country, and it didn’t take long for the walk-backs to begin. Pretty soon, the president began insisting that he wasn’t talking about “mainstream Republicans” and that the “ultra MAGA” represented

“You have never seen a conservative film quite like this,” says FrontPage Magazine’s Mark Tapson of the newly released film My Son Hunter, which Tapson believes “sets a new bar for conservative filmmaking, far above the heavy-handed messaging and awkward acting that right-leaning audiences have generally had to settle for in the recent past.”
Tapson writes:
Reviewers’ political bias aside, My Son Hunter manages to be both wildly entertaining and deeply affecting,

The whole of civilization is in mourning. The passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the enlightened monarch who reigned over the United Kingdom for 70 years, is a loss felt by billions around the world.
This week, and in the weeks ahead, we especially grieve for the royal family — we can only imagine their sorrow.
And we express our solidarity with all the people of the United Kingdom and every realm of the Commonwealth she so loved.
Few in history have more fully exemplified the traits of dignity, steadfastness, resolve, duty, and patriotic devotion.
She counseled 15 Prime Ministers and 13 Presidents, and was the longest-serving monarch

President Joe Biden struggled to find words to describe Republican Sen. Rob Portman during a Friday speech celebrating the start of construction for a computer chip factory in Ohio.
“I’m trying to find the words for him, but he’s a good man. Thank you. You’re leaving a hell of a legacy as you leave what you’re doing as a consequence of you in large part,” Biden said to retiring Republican Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio at the ground-breaking ceremony of an Intel factory. Biden also apparently flubbed the name of Republican Rep. Troy Balderson, mistakenly calling him “Tony,” according to the transcript.

It is understandable that folks are baffled and dismayed by the news that confronts us each day. The Babylon Bee can barely keep a step ahead of the nitwittery we see playing out in real time.
For example, California politicians decided to take money from taxpayers in order to buy medical insurance for illegal aliens. The federal government tossed bundles of COVID relief cash every which way, with over a billion dollars of it raining down on incarcerated convicts, including Boston Marathon bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. And we witnessed government spend billions to fight the prospect of climate change, only to create the reality of crushing inflation.
Why are these things happening?

Queen Elizabeth II, praised by England’s leading Catholic cardinal for her faith, said her sense of “personal accountability before God” underpinned her entire life.
“On 21 April 1947, on her 21st birthday, Princess Elizabeth said, ‘I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service,’” said Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster, President of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, on news on the Queen’s passing at her Balmoral estate in Scotland.
“Now, 75 years later, we are heartbroken in our loss at her death and so full of admiration for the unfailing way in which she fulfilled that declaration,”

A new law passed by North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un’s puppet parliament will allow for the leader to fire a preemptive nuclear attack if the country believes such an action would protect it from a threat.
North Korea’s new law also ensures that the country will “automatically and immediately” retaliate with nuclear weapons if Kim is killed in an attack, Politico reported. Kim mentioned strained relations with the U.S. as one of the reasons for the importance of the law that he claims is “irreversible.”
“As long as nuclear weapons exist on Earth, and imperialism and the anti-North Korean maneuvers of the U.S. and its followers remain, our road

Republicans are tearing into President Joe Biden's bizarre lap of honor in 58-page report praising himself for the 'strongest economic recovery in recent history.'
The President boasted his 'bold and decisive' action over the past two years has spearheaded 'significant progress'.
His claims, outlined in his economic blueprint, also argue the country has seen job and wage gains throughout the states.
But the comments have sparked outrage as Americans suffer under crippling inflation, a cost of living crisis and a tanking economy.
'Biden's economic agenda turned a recovery into a recession, created historic inflation, raised taxes,

Attorneys for former President Donald Trump and the Department of Judstice have reached an impasse on a 'special master' who would review classified records taken by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago.
Both Trump and the DOJ's representatives have each put forth a pair of candidates to do the job.
A special master is an independent third-party sometimes appointed by a federal court to weed through sensitive records that could be privileged and segregate them so they are not viewed by prosecutors and do not taint a criminal investigation.
The Justice Department said it is proposing two candidates for special master:

Joe Biden's mother is said to have hated the English so much that she told him not to bow down to the Queen ahead of his first meeting with her.
President Biden first met the late monarch when he was a young senator in 1982, however just as he was leaving for the airport to fly to the UK, he recalled in a 2013 speech, how his mother phoned him with firm instructions.
'Joey, be polite but do not kiss her ring,' Biden told his audience to laughter. 'Swear to God.'
