Officials are asking Californians to use less electricity as the state faces record demand for energy on Tuesday, creating the possibility for rolling blackouts in the midst of a heat wave.
On Tuesday, as the state faces a seventh consecutive “Flex Alert,” in which residents will be asked to conserve electricity between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., officials say that efforts to save energy must be doubled or tripled to be effective.
The California Independent System Operator (ISO) declared an “Energy Emergency Alert” at level 2 on Monday, one level below the stage at which blackouts would have been required.

A Flex Alert is very exciting. The peasantry waits breathlessly for The Authorities to grant them leave to resume their normal activities. Leftists love this sort of power. Maybe some enterprising Migrant from the Far East will make a fortune on a rickshaw business.

Does the Flex Alert apply to Gavin or is it only for CA peasants? 2035 and beyond should be very, very interesting in CA.

What? Is the wind not blowing endlessly and powerfully? Is the sun not shining 24 hours a day with full power?
Oh, wait....it gets DARK at nigh?
And sometimes the wind is slow or nonexistent?
Gee, seems like someone should have thought of that.
LOL!
Idiots and fools. Zero sympathy.

Do the people in California understand irony? Seriously. All must have EV's in about 10 years. Has no one wondered where all that electricity will come from?

Simple solution - - - -
At night - - shine a bunch of those Hollywood spotlights onto the solar panels. Presto! Massive amounts of additional electric power!
If I can think of such simple solutions - - then why can't the "experts"?

Like illegal aliens are going to start obeying laws, policies or suggestions now.
Har har har!
Some Republicans feel so left out by CA's skewed political process that they are unflexing on purpose!
Those flex hours are a good time, they say, to wash clothes, dry them, cool the house, run the dishwasher.
These energy rebels probably far outnumber their greenies in the dem party, the living ones anyway.

No electricity at my place, again, this morning. Third time in four days. At least there's gas in the car.

Maybe we'll all be lucky and they will have to return to paper, in-person, voting. With a purple-dyed finger to prevent double-dipping.

They should start impounding EV's -- pull them over, tow them into the scrap yard and disassemble them. You cannot be driving an EV in CA right now with this power emergency.

Re #8, I hope you have a backup generator. It would seem that any home in Cali without their own generator is running hope hard up against reality.

Why should Californians use less electricity, when it is the officials that have shut off the supply of energy, which they could turn back on.

The states are meant to be the test labs of policy. One state tries something, it works, others copy them. It fails, and others avoid it.
It is so nice that the politicians in Kalifornia volunteered to a statewide experiment to see if people can live without a brain. So far, the results are disappointing. The rest of us can pass on that. Thanks.

I think that Kalifornians need to get off their duffs and stop waiting for Daddy Gavin to ride in and save their asses. Yes there is a problem with the power grid to supply adequate energy but that shouldn't stop anyone from taking their own initiative. I purchased a solar powered generator that supplies adequate power for my home needs. It has 2 solar panels that charge the generator while it is powering my electrical devices. Whine all you want about your woes but do something about it before the Massa gets the chance to take more control of your life.
