A California judge, the scion of a powerful Democratic family, granted an ex-con a mistrial for an alleged violent McDonald’s robbery because he was sleepy in court and couldn’t take proper notes, Fox News Digital has learned. Los Angeles Superior Court Jurist Daniel Lowenthal, whose Democratic congressman father endorsed the city’s embattled top prosecutor George Gascón, made the ruling Wednesday. Vamazae Elgin Banks, 24, was on trial for allegedly pointing a gun at the head of a McDonald’s cashier and threatening to kill her if she didn't hand over cash quickly enough. "Hurry up or I’ll blow your brains out!" Banks allegedly told the victim, court records show.

When you have judges letting violent criminals go free, to the point where they are making up idiotic excuses to do it the judicial system has become the criminals.

If this is true the judge should have taken care of this during the trial. The judge should have to pay for the new trial.

A good attorney friend of mine points out that most judges are usually lawyers who couldn't make it in corporate or private practice, but had enough personality or connections to win election or appointment to the bench. Used to be you had a long legal career and then you spent a few years on the bench before you retired. My friend, who is an expert in his field of practice, often has to counsel the judges on what the actual law says. Heck, the judges in his field of practice invite him to their annual conference to make presentations.

They need to give that criminal the judge's address and tell him that there is a lot of good stuff there. Then let's see what his next trial would be like.

Maybe the judge should let Vamazae have a gun in the courtroom, you know, just so he feels safe. See how that works out.

It would seem the entire Lowenthal family is involved in some form or fashion in CA and the City of Long Beach politics. And, one is retiring from his House seat, which will elect the current mayor of Long Beach as his replacement.

A comprehensively corrupt and politically motivated U.S. Justice Department has appealed the part of Judge Cannon’s previous order appointing a special master with authority to review documents the FBI collected at Mar-a-Lago last month. [Appeal for ‘stay’ pdf motion Here] The corrupt and politically motivated Lawfare prosecutors state they have serious concerns about handing government secrets to a third party and will not allow it. In essence, the DOJ-NSD, an agency within the justice department created by Eric Holder, is claiming no one outside the DOJ-NSD should be allowed to review the documents they have defined as “national security” interests.

U.S. District Judge Sarah Merriam dismissed Dr. Bandy Lee’s wrongful termination lawsuit against Yale University. The lawsuit accused Yale of violating Lee’s free speech and professional obligations when she was not reappointed to her role with the school. Lee blames her termination on a letter sent to Yale by Trump’s friend Alan Dershowitz. Dr. Lee was not considered a staff member or employee of Yale University. The brainchild of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the “Commitment to America” will have four parts dealing with the economy, security, education/health care, and government accountability. McCarthy’s office has indicated the Commitment to America will debut in Pittsburgh on September 19. It’s loosely based on the “Contract with American” concept created for the 1994 midterm election that was credited with helping the GOP take over both the House and Senate.
