Republican Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves is set to declare a state of emergency as Jackson residents are being warned not to drink the water after the city’s main water treatment facility failed Monday. Reeves is set to declare the emergency as more than 180,000 residents are being told to not drink the tap water, according to CNN. (Tweet) While residents deal with record rainfall and flooding, Reeves said the city could not produce running water, according to CNN. Issues stemming from the O.B. Curtis Water Plant left little to no water pressure, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said in a statement. Authorities expect the water shortage to last several days.

I'm not in Jackson but I long ago gave up on drinking city tap water. Even boiled. Some 25 year old college educated jackazz is in charge of the city's water supply.

Jackson’s activist mayor sounds like fun. From his Wiki page: Lumumba was elected mayor in June 2017 with 93% of the vote. The Nation commented that "Lumumba lit up the left press with his promise—delivered later that month in a speech at the People’s Summit in Chicago—to make Jackson 'the most radical city on the planet.’”

This is one of those many times when I am thankful that I live right where I do. Our water is exceedingly pure right out of the tap. It matters.

I have some relatives in that area, fortunately about 20 plus miles south, and we checked and they aren't affected by the flooding. If you live on a river....you will eventually get flooded. Sometimes it rains a lot....and then sometimes it rains ten times that much in a short time period. Don't live close to a river or creek. One of those rules to live by.

Re #7, probably one of those made up "African sounding" names. Eye roll. Like I told the Mexican looking teen with the ball cap on that said "Mexico" on it in huge letters embroidered in high contrast when he combatively said "What are YOU looking at!" as I examined his hat. My answer was "If Mexico is so damned great, why don't you live there?" Long silence, just a glare. I'm pretty glare-proof. So for those with these made up "African names".....I say, "If Africa is so damned great, why don't you live there?"

Fresh off of testing negative for COVID-19 after her “rebound” case, First Lady Jill Biden headed up a “Meeting to Strengthen the Teaching Profession” at the White House Wednesday, where she was hit very early on with a query about President Biden’s student loan relief plan, which he unilaterally implemented last week. At some point prior to handing over the meeting to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, Jill Biden was confronted by a Daily Mail reporter who asked her to explain how Biden’s plan, which was heavily pushed by Sens. Last September, scores of patent-holders demonstrated in six cities across the U.S. wearing black t-shirts that said, "Homo sapiens inventoris: Endangered Species." These men and women of ingenuity were protesting America's decade of stolen dreams: the years since the passage of the America Invents Act (AIA) of 2011 and the establishment of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), which together have made it easy for big corporations to steal their ideas and profit from them with impunity. "We've had piracy for all the years I've been an inventor, but the AIA just put it on steroids, in the context that now you can get PTAB-ed and lose your rights

The Biden administration will request Congress to authorize roughly $1.1 billion weapons sale for Taiwan amid an increased push among lawmakers to show support for the self-governing island, Politico reported Monday. China has dispatched warships and aircraft across the unofficial “median line” dividing China and Taiwan every day since U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan in early August, followed by two more congressional delegations. Escalating rhetoric has sparked concern Beijing may attempt to capture Taiwan by force, prompting efforts from the U.S. and other Western nations to fortify the island against the Chinese military, according to Politico.

Fox News hosts Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Jeanine Pirro and Lou Dobbs have all been deposed over allegations they perpetuated election fraud lies and damaged the reputation of Dominion Voting by hosting friends and advocates of Donald Trump on-air. Dominion filed a lawsuit against Fox News in March last year, alleging the network deliberately spread a false narrative that its machines and counting systems were rigged in favor of President Joe Biden. It was a story that every news outlet in the world covered, but Dominion claims that Fox gave a particularly sympathetic ear to Trump's claims.

The buses arrived at Chicago's Union Station at around 7:30pm - after it was revealed that Texas has already spent $12million on taking migrants to New York City and Washington DC. Among the 100 or so people who were on the buses, around 20 to 30 were small children. Pregnant women and children were among the busload. The migrants said they were from Venezuela. President Joe Biden has engaged in precisely the same behavior identified by his White House as “semi-fascist”: talking about physically assaulting his political opponent. On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked to explain how Biden’s claim that many Republicans, especially Trump supporters, were “semi-fascist” could square with his claim to be unifying the country. Jean-Pierre cited a list of examples — some more dubious than others — of Republicans talking (or joking) about physical violence against their opponents. “[J]ust last week,

Klotzbach further pointed out that August of this year could finish as the only August since 1997 to have no named hurricanes.
