The Economic News Is All Bad, And The
American Public Knows It

Reporters and analysts are getting used to describing news about the U.S. economy as “mixed.” The public, however, knows it’s all bad, because the results of President Joe Biden’s economic and energy policies are hitting Americans right in their pocketbooks. The latest ostensibly good news was Thursday’s Bureau of Economic Analysis report that the second quarter decline in U.S. gross domestic product was a little less than previously stated: -0.6% instead of -0.9%. That’s good only if your definition of success is slightly slower failure. The reality is that the U.S. economy is in serious decline and getting worse.

My monthly investment income is down 20% for the year. Car insurance up 20%. Electric budget billing up 20%. AT&T phone insurance up $16/month. That's just the ones I've received so far. Apartment lease up next month, don't know what to expect there. Food - never ending increases. Fixed income here.

Re energy policy: What I have yet to be told is how wind and solar are going to replace traditional means of generating electricity. Other issues I have yet to be told of are: 1. How are we going to charge all these electric vehicles Biden wants us to buy and drive? 2. Where is the infrastructure for charging all these electric vehicles? 3. How can the average-income American, not to mention the low-income American, afford to buy one of these vehicles? 4. How does one go on long trips with one of these EVs? The magic in Harry Potter movies makes more sense to me. At least, I knew I was watching fiction; there was no agenda to make me think otherwise. Biden and his Lefty pals act as if they can make things so just by using the strokes of a magic pen. And they expect us to think this isn't fiction.

The government is screwing up the marketplace in just about every sector. With the higher interest rates home sales have suddenly dropped sharply. That's actually increasing apartment rental costs because of the larger demand and lack of supply. Some people are trapped - can't afford a house and the rent is eating up money they would use to save for a down payment.

I spent this past weekend reorganizing my preps. Seeing exactly what I had, seeing what holes needed to be plugged and what else should I be purchasing. I've always had a small prep for emergencies such as winter weather but now I do it for the benefit of my family if and when SHTF. Paying attention to upcoming food shortages, current farm projections of crops and trying to find some kind of price that isn't totally outrageous. Stocking up on OTC meds and personal items and cleaning products. Never in my life did I dream that Bernie just might get his dream of opening government bread and cheese lines. I am cooking spaghetti sauce to make a pasta casserole tonight. I am using the evil combination of beef and pork, not crickets and mealworms. They want us in a dark, cold house being thankful for bugs to eat and government bread and walking not riding. They are sending us down a rat hole to hell and are happy about it. This is their doing, all of it, and it is on purpose.

There are no votes to had from all the illegals or youths with debt forgiveness the democrats will forever count on Dominion machines and paper mail in ballots while republicans do nothing about any of it. Well, let's see #3 - 1) you will NOT be able to charge them frequently enough to make them marginally practical ! 2) it doesn't exist and won't for years if ever - the infrastructure is is useless without generating capacity which also does not exist and takes much longer and costs much more than the lines and 'charging stations' ! 3) Most won't be able to buy one of these glorified golf carts so they can use mass transit or walk ! Part of the plan - control mobility of the unwashed masses - the elite will still have their jets etc. ! 4) you don't. period. refer to item 3 goals ! President Joe Biden caused quite a stir late last week after accusing supporters of former President Donald Trump of following a political creed of “semi-fascism.” But it’s yet another case of the far-left Democratic Party projecting its own grievous sins on the political opposition. This was Saul Alinsky’s 13th rule: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” The Biden administration and the Democrats are following this rule to a T. They constantly call Republicans, conservatives and those “deplorable” moderate Americans in middle America the most vile names – “racists,” “fascists,” “Nazis,” and worse –

To look on the bright side, Americans don’t disagree about everything. One issue in particular seems to bring them together in near-perfect accord: Are we a unified nation after more than a year-and-a-half of President Joe Biden? Americans overwhelmingly answer no, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. To gauge the ongoing unity zeitgeist, each month the I&I/TIPP Poll asks Americans whether “the United States is: Very united. Somewhat united. Somewhat divided. Very divided. Not sure.” The data make for depressing reading. Among those responding to the poll,

As soon as President Biden took office, the number of foreigners crossing the southern U.S. border illegally exploded. When asked about it in his first press conference in March 2021, Biden brushed it off, saying “this happens every year” and “nothing has changed.” [snip] This chart proves that everything Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas have said about tackling the border crisis were flagrant lies. The chart compares monthly “apprehensions” at the border under Biden with the average monthly apprehensions from 2012 through 2020.

A new poll finds that more than half of Americans think the U.S. is being invaded by illegal aliens flooding into the country. And they are right, no matter what President Joe Biden claims, or how diligently the mainstream press tries to cover it up. “More than half (54%) of Americans think it’s at least somewhat true that we’re experiencing an invasion at the southern border,” according to the NPR/Ipsos poll. That is a shocking finding, given the denials from the administration that there is a crisis at all, and the fact that the mainstream media will cover anything but the flood of illegal immigrants under Biden.

Americans, good natured as they are, often assume that government agencies deserve an implicit trust from the public that they’re sworn to serve, and that they will not violate that trust. When they do, there have to be consequences. That’s certainly the case after our two-and-a-half year COVID-19 nightmare. It can no longer be denied that our government’s bureaucratic response to the dreaded Wuhan flu was inadequate at best, near-criminal at worst. And now the reckoning has begun. That can be seen in the Centers for Disease Control’s new “guidance” on COVID, which is essentially an institutional mea culpa

President Joe Biden signed the inappropriately named “Inflation Reduction Act” last Friday. Aside from the fact that even non-partisan analyses show the bill will have a negligible impact on actual inflation, one specific provision is raising red flags. In the plan, the Internal Revenue Service gets a fresh $80 billion in funding, with $45.6 billion of that slated for “enforcement” measures. This will involve the hiring of more than 87,000 new IRS agents. If past is prologue, it’s reasonable to expect this spells bad news for lower-income Americans. The Congressional Budget Office estimates this new investment in the IRS will generate

Joe Biden’s $700 billion Inflation Reduction Act passed both the Senate and House without a single vote from Republicans. It has zero redeeming value and is the most wretched bill out of Washington since Obamacare was approved in 2010. The GOP has to take it off the books. As we pointed out in this space weeks ago, the entire bill is a lie. It has nothing whatsoever to do with inflation and, in fact, won’t reduce it at all. Dubbed the “Inflation Reduction Act of 2022,” Senate Democrats voted to pass this bill only 11 days after releasing its 725 pages of text. House Democrats followed suit five days later. Democrats pushed this bill so rapidly through Congress that the Congressional Budget Office estimates it won’t be able to “provide a complete cost estimate for the legislation” until more than a week after Congress passed it.
