Ford Motor Company will lay off approximately 3,000 workers to cut costs while transitioning to electric vehicles, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. The company’s internal email to employees said it would begin notifying the affected salaried and agency workers in the next few days, according to the newspaper which reviewed the email. “The workforce reduction mostly targets employees in the U.S., Canada and India. About 2,000 of the targeted cuts will be salaried jobs at the Dearborn, Mich., auto maker.(Snip)“The 2023 F-150 Lightning will now range from $47,000 to $97,000, up from approximately $40,000 to $92,000 for the 2022 model.

Does the $97,000 model have a "cold one" holder? That may be extra.

Once they force only electric, driverless cars on us, it will be easy for our masters to keep us close to home and more controllable. The self-driving cars will be programmed to be unable to enter elite neighborhoods, and other "restricted" areas without special permission. Cross-country road trips will be impractical, if not impossible, for most of us, requiring lots of time, money, and patience and special access passes from government bureaucrats.

Ok, so where is the massive surge in upgrading the electrical grid to support the increased demand on it by EV’s? Texas is not even connected to the national grid. Not a EV friendly state it seems. No doubt that electrical rates will spike higher as a result of the huge investment in electrical infrastructure needed, eliminating any financial advantage of buying a EV.

Unless they're being "let go" in order to send them off for training, in order to be part of the army needed to produce 200 million vehicles (not counting work trucks and big rigs), this is idiotic.
We're living through the proverbial insane running the asylum. Granny Granholm, for example. Wasn't she just the other day still wrapped up in a padded straitjacket?

Once they have "nugded" / forced everyone into electrics, they will have complete control over your mobility and the power to completely lock you down. The power grid is centrally controlled and you cannot hoard electricity.

That means at least 3,000 new child labor jobs in lithium mines in China, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and Chile. After all, those rechargeable batteries need a lot of lithium and cheap labor to get it out of the ground and processed into a nice new rechargeable expensive battery for those nifty new expensive electric vehicles, which will need the coal-fired electrical generators to keep them charged.

What an utter boondoggle! Is there no lengths these woke companies will not go to show their woke bonafides? Not only is this a ridiculous and irresponsible decision, it is so pathetically political. Ford values anything over its rank and file workers. I wouldn’t drive a Ford if you gave me one. Don’t these companies have a responsibility to their stockholders or has everyone connected to Ford gone mad with wokeism.

I think Ford, along with a number of other auto companies, are going to find this obsession with replacing their product line with electric vehicles is going to be a disappointing venture. Hopefully their Japanese competitors will continue to offer alternatives to replace the products that Ford is dropping to convert to EV. One of those happens to be the very nice Ford Edge. Ford, along with most other domestic auto companies have already dropped their four door sedan models. Of the domestic auto lines only Cadillac still offers a few gasoline powered sedans.

Audi is going all electric within a few years. They don't seem to understand that Germany is already experiencing electrical blackouts. How are they going to charge these fancy golf carts?
But, they will sell them to the dumb Americans to charge them from windmills and unicorn farts.

I currently drive a 2003 Ford Lightning, one of the good ones. Didn't pay a third of the price of one of those new electric ones that can't haul a camper 100 miles before the thing needs charging, and I sleep soundly every night, knowing my garage and house won't burn down around me while I sleep and it's recharging. Real car people know these EV's are a joke, an expensive joke!

Years ago, Ford was viewed as a hero company because they didn't accept money from the feds like Chrysler had done. Now, Ford has signed onto the BS electric crap that the communists are pushing. What blue collar worker that needs a pickup for work is going to buy an electric pickup, and what blue collar worker could afford one? These things are perfect for the white-collar guy who works in an office and wants a pickup so he can look manly on weekends hauling mulch. However, from my observations, most of these people driving pickups are hauling nothing but air and are buying these pickups and driving them like they're sport cars. Besides, with most of these pickups costing 50 to 60 grand, who wants to mess up a vehicle costing that much hauling dirt or something that will scratch the bed of the truck. Look at the newest Chevy commercial for their pickup. The owner locks the doors when his friends who are covered with mud want to get into his nice new clean truck. His friend says nice truck as he gets into the vehicle with his muddy shoes and gear. The owner says, "It was".

FTA: Jim Farley said Ford had too many employees “and that the existing workforce doesn’t have the expertise needed to transition to a portfolio of electric, software-laden vehicles.”
Presumably, the expertise they need can be found in Guadalajara or Hermosillo.

Try driving your electric vehicle in a flooded street. And do most people know that those fancy batteries have limits on charging based on the outside temperature? They don't work so great in States where freezes are common, so don't expect to like your EV in places like Michigan, where they're built!

Remember when Ford tells you that their electrically powered motor vehicles will be built in North America that there are actually three countries that make up North America, Canada, Mexico, and the USA. Ford currently manufactures motor vehicles in all three of those countries. Since the costs of electric motor vehicles are sky high well over the price point where more than a small percentage of people residing in North America today can afford to purchase them, you have to know that Ford will be cutting their labor and manufacturing costs to the bone which means that most Ford electric motor vehicles will be built in Mexico where labor costs are at the bottom of the pay scale that Ford pays its workers and that manufacturing costs are also much lower than Canada or the USA. Common sense will tell you that Ford to have any chance will move its electric motor vehicle manufacturing plants to Mexico. One problem with that is that the Mexican workforce is known to be hard working but is not known for precision workmanship.
I was reading that Ford has not been telling customers exactly in what countries their motor vehicles are made with the manufacturers plate inside the driver’s door claiming that the vehicle was made in North America by Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI. I always thought that where the vehicle was made had to be on the sticker?

There are two places in this country where EVs are going to be nearly, if not completely, useless and that is above or below the Mason-Dixon line where you have to run your heater or AC while driving.

They're going to cut a lot more jobs than that when no one wants or can afford to buy these overpriced toys. Maybe they know the fix is in and the all-powerful fedgov will force the issue through a ploy such as banning gasoline, or levying heavy tax fines on bad people with normal cars and fat subsidies for the compliant.
