The Big Apple could be on the hook for more than $300 million per year to provide shelter space in hotels for newly arrived migrants, a Post analysis shows. City officials have either rented or announced plans to secure roughly 5,800 hotel rooms over the last month in response to the influx from the southern border, which quickly overwhelmed the already-strained homeless shelter system.
One of the largest operations is planned for the ROW NYC hotel on 8th Avenue in Midtown, where officials are looking to rent as many as 600 rooms and provide intake and other services for the recent arrivals.

FTA: "I resent any accusation that this raid was influenced by partisan politics or my insatiable desire to wear pretty designer dresses." The Attorney General then did a little spin in his purple gown as the press gasped with delight.
Good stuff. And Boy Garlick has never looked more chic!

The opera tickets are expensive. It's the 8oz $50 NYC restaurant steaks , with added gratuity, that may not have been added into the cost.

Excellent. Keep sending more busloads if New York taxpayers are willing to house them in swanky hotels. Has to be better than the Motel 6 in Del Rio.

NYC could spend...
Does anyone here really think that you and I won't ultimately be footing this bill? The mayor, the governor, both Senators, and all the cognizant Representatives have crooked friends in very high places.

The numbers of migrants (illegal aliens) who could show up in New York City and other big Democrat run sanctuary cities is actually unlimited. The reason for that is Biden’s and the Democrats “open borders” initiatives and Biden’s failure to effectively enforce the immigration laws, both at the borderline, and throughout the interior of the USA.
The taxpayers of New York City and the other Democrat sanctuary cities will not be paying to maintain the massively growing illegal alien population as local and State Democrat politicians are already requesting assistance from Biden and the DC Democrats to send them as many federal dollars as possible to provide benefits and services to illegal aliens, who the Democrats consider to be future Democrat supporters and voters by the tens of millions in the years ahead.

Housing foreign invaders in fancy hotels while thousands of our vets are living on the street. Does anyone need a further reason to understand that the left is pure evil?
I’m with #5. Send ALL of the illegals to NYC and DC.

One would think these democrat politicians would get the message. All they want to do is complain when the problem could easily be alleviated. They’re begging Washington for more money when they should be begging Washington to control the border. Then, they could begin to deal with the problem of what to do with all these people.

As long as 'Mayor' Adams gets his free meals (vegan of course) from restaurants and hangs out for free every night in the VIP Lounge of ZeroBond nightclub, this is all cool with him. Meanwhile city workers are being shot in parks and people at his vaunted outdoor cafes are being robbed in broad daylight in formerly safe areas in Astoria, Queens. RESIGN!

Does the $300M include cleaning and restoring all of the rooms and amenities that these people trash? Some hotels in TX spent a ton after the Katrina people finally left.

The $312.6 million is a lowball estimate based on prices from January 2021, before Bidenflation kicked in. Tack on the costs for free food, medical care, clothing, public school in their language of choice (probably remedial at that, given many are illiterate in their native tongue), and the price goes much higher. NYC officials will describe this not as a cost, but an investment, because for sure they're working angles to make a profit on it for themselves.
