An investigation is underway into a robbery by four masked men who brazenly broke into a Bronx jewelry store last week and made off with an estimated $2 million worth of merchandise, according to the NYPD. The incident, which involved four men wearing face masks and was recorded by the business' surveillance camera, happened just after 2:30 p.m. local time on Friday afternoon. Footage shows one man initially standing at storefront door of Rocco's Jewelry, a retailer whose shop is located on a busy avenue in the Bronx, steps from Fordham University and down the road from the New

At least they were wearing masks. You know? For Covid and stuff.

These places need armed guards that will shoot robbers.

It’s the dims’ dream society. Where the oppressed fight back. And take from the oppressor. You know, like insurance companies.

Why bother with masks? They won't be prosecuted.

The way this changes, as far as increased security, is when the insurance company pays off, but cancels the policy if they don't have massively increased security.

I took my grandfather's high grade pocket watch in to a top jeweler in KC which has a real watchmaker on staff, for a cleaning and lubrication. There was a uniformed KCMO police officer, armed, of course, standing watch just inside the door.
KC has far lower crime rate than NYC, especially in this high end shopping district where this particular jewelry store is located, but they are smart enough to pay for a police officer as a security guard.
Another indicator that folks in NYC are pretty stupid in a lot of ways, clearly.

Re #5. I was an insurance agent for over 40 years until I retired. I am a little out of the loop now, but I would be surprised if those high-end stores in NYC weren't seeing massive rate increases and policy cancellations. Normally, insurance companies can accept some losses because they use your premium dollars to invest. With the market in the tank and bond yields still low, they have to be taking a real beating in the Dem-run high crime cities. They might also be looking at companies withdrawing entirely from the state, which is what has happened in CA for several reasons...wildfire losses being a big reason.

Apparently, crime pays, and pays very well. Why shouldn't such brazen criminals be shot down to two dimensional figures, DTR?

Excuse me, that should be DRT, which means "dead right there." This "Yugo" style criminality (break down all barriers) can be stopped with deadly force, applied immediately, and liberally.
Or else submit and pray that the robbers are intent only on robbing.

Thanks for the info, #7, leaving the whole state is sure a vote against the way things are spinning out of control. If a jewelry company can't get insurance, seems like they'd either leave the area, or get serious about armed security. Drop a robber or two dead in the store, and things might change.
I didn't know that companies had just abandoned the California insurance market because of the out of control wildfire situation. All on the lefty ecocrazies preventing normal forestry practices.

The masks are are so their relatives don’t start asking for a piece. Morons like this usually out themselves by spending crazily and buying Cadillac Escalades.

Don't let those numbers fool you. Let's see what the wholesale figures are and then what the fence is on top of that.

I knew what this was going to be when I saw the demographics of the neighborhood where the reporter was standing. The usual suspects.
Charleston has a generations old family run lovely jewelry store on the main shopping street downtown. The door is always locked and you have to be buzzed in. They never allow more than a few people in the store at a time. That should be SOP for every jewelry store in a city.

New Yorkers are ALREADY leaving the state in droves.
They're MOVING to states which encourage stores to hang signs "Robbers will be SHOT!" Where the Rule of Law is followed, and where perps serve TIME instead of getting a slap on the wrist.

Well, if they're ever caught, no problem for NYC. They'll just release them to do it again. That's demonrats for you.
