li Lilly and Company, which employs more than 10,000 people in the Hoosier state, says it'll 'be forced to plan for more employment growth outside of our home state.' The Indiana-based pharmaceutical giant made the revelation in a statement on Saturday following the passing of a near-total ban on abortion in the state. Eli Lilly is the manufacturer of drugs such as Prozac and Cymbalta. On Friday, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed Senate Bill 1 into law making his state the first to institute an abortion ban since the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

I wish we could have voiced our opinion instead of just having the Indiana branches making this decision. The Supremes sent it back to the states so let the citizens of those states express themselves. Not one of these State Representatives/Senators was originally voted into office on their abortion stance.

Eli Lilly is blackmailing Indiana. DON'T let them! They want, like all pharma, total control via money. They are swell-headed by what they saw as the total usurpation of government by Pfizer.

I guess that killing babies is more important to Lilly than products, services, employees, or share prices. The lies of the pro-abortion left are laid bare and it's now obvious to all that the histrionics were all about abortion as birth control, providing the hook-up culture with easy access to absolution when "mistakes" happen. Pro "choice" indeed... greyseal

Abortion, and whether it's legal or illegal anywhere has NOTHING to do with concern for women. It's about MONEY. Do you really believe that any of these people in government or big pharma lose sleep because a poor black woman in the inner city might not be able to get an abortion? When I was doing public speaking on Pro-Life issues inn the 90's, the money generated by abortion's (and funneled to the politicians) was second only to the illegal drug trade. I can't imagine that, that has changed much. The phony "Climate Change" promoters are the same. Just like the "shovel ready jobs" Obama spent billions of tax payer dollars on were fake, the Build Back Better garbage is FAKE. They are passing that money to cronies all over the world. We may be able to resolve pollution problems here and there but change the CLIMATE of the Earth? Ridiculous. The promoters of all of this "scare everyone into a frenzy" whether climate change, over population or lack of abortion access, are billionaires who will, crush us without a second thought. They intentionally, destroyed the economy. They are saying it out loud. (High gas prices are good because people are driving less) Meanwhile, like the dream killing Covid shutdowns, we are being put into our "proper place"...at the feet of the Global elite. Imagine when AOC finds out that she was just a gullible pawn and that none of her heroes gives a whit about poor women and their abortions or her personal "WWII," saving the planet.

Sorry Eli Lilly , but your excuse that you will e unable to attract employees for high level scientific positions is just laughable. These are probably the people least likely to u need or use abortion as birth control. Women still control their reproductive health decisions. They have a lot of control over if they get pregnant or not.

Decades ago I was a contractor at Eli Lilly working on a program that paid pharmacists and doctors to "recommend" their drugs instead of their competitors. Luckily, I found another position and left. A year or so later they got slapped for that program (as did other pharmacy companies). Not overly fond of them and they can just jump in the lake as far as I am concerned. Hopefully, Indiana stands up to them.

I'm not the first to point it out but Lilly, Dick's Sporting Goods et al are less committed to abortion and 'women's rights' than they are to protecting their profitability and business continuity. With an ever-growing percentage of women in the workforce, including and especially management positions, it becomes very expensive and disruptive to let them utilize maternity leave and family leave policies, whether those policies are internal or imposed by law. And then there is always the chance lurking that they will quit entirely to raise their children. Turnover, administrative costs, the onboarding process etc. are all huge concerns at the C-level. Again, nothing to do with abortion per se. PS - Lilly could not be better situated. Indy is growing at a steady rate especially in the northern suburbs near HQ and the very type of individuals Lilly would seek are moving in. They would be mad to move or expand elsewhere given the low cost of doing business there vs a coastal area or even a huge metro like Atlanta.

Is every woman getting an abortion, and that will preclude families from moving to Indiana? That company has really generous salaries and benefits, so someone is going to make a decision to take a job with Lilly based on an Indiana law forbidding abortion? Read carefully what Mr. Ricks said. Lilly will do more hiring outside of Indiana. In the first place, he should have kept his mouth shut. His job is to make sure Lilly remains a profitable company and not opine about abortion. I guess Kansas would be acceptable to him, but a culture shock to Indianans who like living in their current locale.

There may be another unspoken reason for the company's headquarters to move. Given Indiana's very restrictive laws, the company's officers may fear being accused by some zealous prosecutor as accessories to abortion by providing "abortion" products, and that may include birth control pills that prevent a fertilized zygote from attaching to the uterus. There's that sticky "moment of conception" thing again. Is that "abortion" under the law, or not?

Gas lighters in the media and in Washington D.C. continue to tell the few who still listen to their words that former President Donald Trump is irrelevant. One Trump-loathing Republican-in-name-only, final-term Rep. Adam Kinzinger, declared, “Trump is becoming irrelevant.” In a Sunday news/snooze fest interview he told ABC’s This Week, “I am hearing a lot of anecdotal stuff, around the edges, of people who've been hardcore with Trump who now just can't stand him.” I suspect he is hearing his “anecdotal stuff” from his January 6 co-NeverTrumper Rep. Christopher Wray’s disingenuous testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday, before he left early on the FBI’s private Gulfstream 550 jet, speaks volumes about the need to defund the FBI — or at least dump its unctuous director. Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley and his team of Republicans expected to have the chance to ask a second round of questions. Grassley pleaded for just an extra 21 minutes. But Wray took an early mark, dismissing the committee’s constitutional obligation to ensure he answers questions under oath to ensure the FBI complies with the law and is accountable to the American people.
