A small-town library is at risk of shutting down after residents of Jamestown, Michigan, voted to defund it rather than tolerate certain LGBTQ+-themed books. Residents voted on Tuesday to block a renewal of funds tied to property taxes, Bridge Michigan reported. The vote leaves the library with funds through the first quarter of next year. Once a reserve fund is used up, it would be forced to close, Larry Walton, the library board’s president, told Bridge Michigan–harming not just readers but the community at large.(Snip)Residents ultimately voted 62% to 37% against a measure that would have raised property taxes by roughly $24 in order to

Wow! A public library ruling a library that is run by people paid by the public but want to promote cha the public doesn't want to fund. Welcome to the unemployment line for those refusing to do as the owners want.

Normally, I'd say that we shouldn't be censoring reading materials and stooping to the liberal level. But, since the liberals want all things conservative censored, and conservative speech stifled or banned, I say, go for it!

If these books were kept in the adult part of the library, where nobody under the age of 18 could look at them or check them out, then I would not have a problem with them. Our public library in my hometown did that with Madonna's soft-core porn book years ago. I am a conservative, and I don't believe in censoring what adults can or cannot read.
But since they insist on putting these materials where children not only can see them, but where they are actually pushed on children, that is just pure evil and I wholly support the 62% of Jamestown, Michigan who are fed up and have put a stop to this evil sodomite insanity!!!!!

We could all learn from this and refuse to fund a government that doesn’t listen to us.

Hmmm I wonder what books they HAVE banned... Dr. Seuss? Christian-themed? The Bible itself? Any conservative stories, promotion of heterosexuality? Huckleberry Finn? any Mark Twain? How about Rudyard Kipling? There's more. We know who the book burners are, and it isn't conservatives.
But as we know, there are subjects and themes that are too mature for children. And, in the context of school libraries promoting aberrant sexual behaviors, nowadays, the last thing you want is for a confused child to go ask a "teacher" to explain.

How about firing the librarians and finding some sane people to run the place?

FTA: “I’m not quite sure what instigated the culture wars that we’re seeing, but libraries are certainly at the front end.”
What instigated the so-called culture wars is the Democrat Party. I would hesitate to approve banning a book but I don’t believe that badly written smut, designed to push an agenda, need have a place in a public library.
In the article a library critic lists the type of books this library purchased. A huge proportion of those purchased, for adults as well as children, fall into the LBGQ whatever category. This genre of writing is not known for its literary quality. It’s safe to assume all these books are trash. Tax payers are right to cut this activist library off public support.

Satan instigated the culture wars. Satan has led the "children" (the baby boomers) to destruction of absolute truth where now everything is relative. Now the children and grandchildren of the baby boomers are living in a world where true truth no longer matters. As a student at one New England's prestigious small colleges (which were originally founded as Christian seminaries) in the late 1960s, I recall (with embarrassment and shame now) conversations with fellow students where WE declared that there is no absolute truth...."everything is relative". Apparently, it was quite a common declaration for our generation. We turned our backs on Christian truth... even at those elite little "Christian" colleges. Now, two generations later, we are living in hellish times when no one knows what is true any longer. Even the "news" is untrue, not to be trusted. The United States has become a land of the People of the Lie. And I helped.
I see it all so clearly now. We need Revival. And revival starts with the individual as it must. How do we get there? Read 2 Peter, verses 3 through 10 for starters. There is a reason that the great colleges of the United States were seminaries first.

I remember when libraries first started installing computers for public use and they had to put all kinds of filters on them because perverts were using them to watch porn. Now those same libraries are promoting porn.
This country is no longer sliding down the slippery slope. We are in free fall.

Yes, shut down this tyranny of the minority. We're sick and tired of lowlifes telling us what we can and can't do and forcing their immorality on us. Remember when they used to say you can't legislate morality? Well, they're certainly trying to legislate immorality, and that's exactly what they were doing back when they were telling us we couldn't legislate morality. Pure evil.

Great job. If the community taxpayer does not like something they gave the right to not purchase or in this case FUND . This should be how our country should be run.

The ALA became known years ago as a front for the alphabet crowd and it's good to see citizens finally getting a true look at their motives.

The community fell short of burning the place to the ground, so shutting it down is the next best thing. Too bad they can't pull the funding immediately.
