An influx of Californians and other Americans has made its way to Mexico City, angering some locals who say they are gentrifying the area, according to a report. The Los Angeles Times report on Wednesday outlined how some Mexican locals are "fed up" with the growing number of Americans, many from California, moving to and visiting the country, which has contributed to a rise in rent and a shift from Spanish to English in some places.

Seriously, why don't we just annex Mexico? We're already supporting most of it and giving them free education, legal, and housing services. Might as well start taxing them, getting their oil, and street tacos as well.

Mexico screamers DON'T mind the criminal migration, the human trafficking or the drug smuggling since it is America that will suffer. Lets GO Brandon ... finish the WALL.

A rehash of a rubbish report from the L. A. Times which flies in the face of what some of us - familiar with Mexico for decades - know to be true. They have loved our tourists and their American dollars. Americans from various parts of the country (mostly our colder states) have retired to cities like Cuernavaca. Mexico City itself was not as desirable as it was dangerous, even years ago. I don’t know what the Times is up to...

There had to be something else. It appears that that liberal word “equity” may be the problem. The City is not as lower class friendly? How easy to blame the Americans when it is the natural growth of a major capital city? I don’t usually use Wikipedia, but found it interesting that they devote an entire page to “Gentrification of Mexico City”… It didn’t make sense that Americans from any state could be causing his anger. Read on: Mexico City has massively been expanding its urban fabric and population density, becoming the 5th largest city in the world.[1] A combination of neoliberal policies, complex geographic location, socio-economic disparities and inefficient strategies, have influenced the process of gentrification in the city. The combination of numerous megaprojects and inefficient city-planning strategies have led to dysfunctions in circulation, community allocation and equal access to resources. In consequence, middle and low-income communities have been directly or indirectly alienated and challenged to adapt to a complex and evolving urban environment.[2][3] (emphasis added) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentrification_of_Mexico_City It’s not the Americans.

I have often wondered why Mexico, blessed with scenic beauty and abundant natural resources, is such a sh**hole. I then realize it is run by corrupt Mexicans. Same can be said for once great American cities such as NYC, Chicago, LA, Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, etc. They are run by corrupt democrats, mostly of the black persuasion.

I loathe Mexico City. I've never seen poverty on the obscene scale they have it there. I always swore that I'd never go back, but then business called. A horrible and dangerous place. People kill tourists for a pair their sandals. I once stayed in the same Mexico City Hotel as visting diplomats, e.g. the President of South Korea, and even in the best part of the City the Police kept uniformed officers armed with automatic shotguns posted around the hotel. If leftists want to play with MS-13 and the Cartels, more power to them. I predict they will soon find out the value of our Second Amendment.

Every now and then you read about an innocent American (or family) that winds up dead from violence in Baja or other region of Northern Mexico. One particularly disturbing incident was the child swimming in the pool of a nice hotel who was killed when he got stuck to the filter intake. In this and almost every other case, police and other officials take little interest in solving the crime or seeking justice. Not that the same crimes don't happen against innocent Americans on this side of the border - it just seems like your chances of survival are greater here. When you enter Mexico as a gringo there are those who are observing you for any vulnerabilities.

I can't believe Mexicans can be intolerant and racist, too! Of course, that doesn't include those who cross our border, distorting labor markets and taking advantage of lax citizenship laws and non-enforcement of immigration laws. The real laugh comes courtesy of Lauren Rodwell, who moved to Mexico City from San Francisco’s Mission neighborhood. She is sensitive to the gentrification issue but doesn’t feel guilty as a Black woman. "I kind of feel like, as a person of color from America, I’m so economically disadvantaged that wherever I go and experience some advantage or equity, I take it. Being Black in America" is exhausting and "it’s nice to take a break from it." I bet she doesn't tip in the restaurants she patronizes...another BAP.

There’s been a lot of professed outrage lately over woke school boards. According to Republican candidates for office, they’re infiltrating children’s curricula with critical race theory, recruiting drag queens to read at story hour for pre-schoolers, and engaging in other forms of — shall we say — “incompetence.” But the real heroes pushing back against left-wing ideologies in government schools are the parents, when it ought to be lawmakers. Outspoken parents in New Jersey made headlines when they protested their school district removing holiday names from the school calendar. Voters in San Francisco — yes! — recalled school board members who thought renaming schools “with a connection to colonialism”

After Dobbs, where can pro-choice advocates look in the Constitution to support abortion? One professor believes she has found the answer in the Thirteenth Amendment, the provision banning slavery that was ratified in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War. Lisa Crooms-Robinson, a professor at Howard University School of Law, reasons out of a wish for Congress to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2021. The bill, among other provisions, would codify the abortion protections found in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, both of which the court just overturned. Congress, like the rest of the national government, possesses only the powers given to it by the

On March 9, 2020, Joe Biden — then the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee — described himself as “a bridge” to a new generation of Democratic leaders who are “the future of this country.” As we approach the halfway point in President Biden’s first term, it’s clear the time has come for him to embrace his place in history as a transitional president and resign gracefully. Biden faces record-low approval ratings, an impending red-wave midterm election, renewed concerns about his physical health and cognitive fitness, a failed domestic agenda with no path forward and glaring foreign-policy mistakes. If Republicans capture Congress, he’ll also face questions he can’t answer on his son

Washington Post columnist Megan McArdle dismissed the semantics debate over whether the U.S. was officially in a recession and warned Democrats that such "word churn" about the state of the economy was not an effective political strategy. In her Friday piece, titled, "Enough with the ‘is this a recession?’ blather," McArdle began by asking, "Are we in a recession? Does it even matter?" She noted "that a preliminary Bureau of Economic Analysis report released Thursday shows that the economy contracted at an annualized pace of 0.9 percent in the second quarter, following a decrease of 1.6 percent in the first quarter."

Since the start of summer, shootings have doubled over 2021’s rate, harkening back to 1993 when The Post dubbed the precinct New York’s Killing Ground as it saw a murder every 63 hours. This year’s victims have been young and old; many, innocent bystanders sitting on a park bench or standing on the street. The shooters are mostly teens and young men, often engaged in running street battles or wild shootouts

At 74, and looking at an upcoming term of major decisions, Thomas hardly needs the aggravation of such protests.
