Colorado marijuana prices at record lows

Original Article

DENVER  — Inflation is at least leaving one consumer product alone. Marijuana prices are less than half what they were only a year ago. The Colorado Department of Revenue publishes quarterly prices for a pound of marijuana bud, trim, seeds and whole plants. With few exceptions, prices for marijuana have steadily sunk since 2021. The price for a pound of marijuana bud was $709 on July 1 — less than half the price in January 2021.

Comments:

As more states legalize pot, the tax revenue from pot sales is spread over more states and each state's share becomes smaller over time.

The border is wide open so maybe it's the competition.

The black market can easily undercut the price of legal stores. There's probably little or no penalty for selling pot on the side, so the risk is worth it to dope dealers.

Well, that works out to about $45 a lid, about 1980 prices IIRC. Except today's stuff is more potent so yeah, weed is the opiate of the masses. Not that hard to believe the powers that be want the "subjects" pretty much incapacitated. Of course many places look to decriminalize all drugs. Tractable, malleable, uninvolved, perfecto.

Unregulated and non-taxed pot is still more competitive than 'legal' pot. The high is the same so price drives the market. Another case of the state legalizing a vice to raise money and finding out the black market is way more competitive. I bet if Colorado legalized assault weapons the same thing would happen. The market once again foils goobernment's great tax rip off.

OK, that means that there is more dope around that people want. Either people are wising up, or the producers and smugglers have grown and imported too much. I hope they all lose a lot of money.

Having mocked and rejected President Donald Trump’s warning about the country’s dependence on Russian energy, the German government now fears that Russia may soon cut off their gas supply. As war rages in Ukraine, Russia has drastically reduced its energy supply to Germany and other western European countries, forcing Berlin to declared emergency measures to save and ration existing gas supplies. In the wake of these measures, Germany fears widespread disruption of its economy and industrial production.

San Francisco has been waiting to be rocked by another massive earthquake since 1906. On Tuesday night this week, it finally came when the people of America’s most famously Left-wing city voted overwhelmingly to throw out their chief prosecutor — and with him a policy of ultra-woke tolerance of crime that has brought the city to its knees. Some 60 per cent of San Franciscans voted to ‘recall’ from office Chesa Boudin, a pin-up for the ‘progressive’ Left, midway through his term as the city’s District Attorney.

Last year, the United Methodist Church accepted Isaac Simmons, who regularly preaches dressed as a drag queen under the name Ms. Penny Cost, as a candidate for ordination. Since that time, Simmons, who serves as an associate pastor at Hope United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Illinois, has challenged basic theological concepts, projecting a worldview where divinity rests not in God but in queerness. In a church preparing to split over LGBTQ issues, the drag queen pastor, who embraces queer theology while barely attempting to plaster on the basic tenets of Christian theology, has become a lightning rod. Conservatives argue that Simmons’ role as a celebrated figure

Just days after President Joe Biden’s Centers for Disease Control ordered yet another extension of the federal mask mandate, a Florida judge ruled that the agency had no authority to impose it in the first place, saying that “our system does not permit agencies to act unlawfully even in pursuit of desirable ends.” To public cheers, the TSA, Amtrak, the Washington Metro system, and other public transportation systems immediately ditched their mask requirements, even though the Biden administration is appealing the ruling in hopes overturning it. No one, it seems, trusts the CDC anymore. But all of this comes as COVID cases appear to be on the upswing.

The disgruntled economist actually conceded that Biden’s irresponsible $1.9 trillion stimulus package was inflationary, despite his earlier objections to the contrary.
