During a campaign event in Fairport, New York, on Thursday, a man reportedly attempted to stab gubernatorial candidate Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY). According to local reports, Zeldin was giving a speech about bail reform at the "Unite to Fire Hochul" bus tour stop when a man went on stage, began yelling, “wrestled with him a bit, and pulled a blade out.” Joe Chenelly, a Marine combat veteran and national executive director of AMVETS, tackled the man, along with others at the event. Zeldin was uninjured and returned to the stage to finish his speech.

When Dems are attacked, the spin is about how horrible the right is, and every Republican is called upon to denounce the violence. When a Republican is attacked, the spin is that right-wingers are so vile that they drive people to violence. No Dems are called about to denounce.

The perp ,was released without bail, a NYS fairly new bail law allowed that. Hochul is beneath contempt. But she probably will win a full term as Governor of NY. (Hochul just signed a bill on gun control in NYS, making it illegal, and a felony, to carry a gun in damned near any location in NYS. It was a thumb in the eye of the U.S. Supreme Court decision, which declared the NYS existing law unconstitutional.

She’s all washed up — and it’s a heartbreak for the city. Beware of false assurances from city officials, scrambling to save face — I don’t expect the Central Park Boathouse to come back to life any time soon after the restaurant shuts its doors in October. “It is our intention to engage a future operator as soon as possible,” Parks Department officials said on Friday, after current manager Dean J. Poll, the Long Island-born restaurateur notable for rescuing Gallagher’s Steakhouse from closure back in 2013, blamed skyrocketing, inflation-driven food prices,

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican, said this week that cities that do not enforce the state’s pro-life abortion laws will have their funding withheld. Landry’s announcement came as a judge blocked the state’s abortion trigger law once again. The law, as Townhall covered, bans most abortions. The law has been blocked before as abortion providers and advocates challenge it in court. Gov. John Bel Edwards, who is a pro-life Democrat, supports the legislation. If the law goes back into effect, officials in New Orleans have said they will not enforce it.

A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Biden administration’s Title IX guidance on gender identity and sexual orientation. U.S. District Judge Charles Atchley in the Eastern District of Tennessee ruled last week that the administration’s guidance misquoted the Supreme Court to equate sex and gender identity, likely violating federal law. The administration’s guidance effectively forced states to allow biological males to use girls restrooms, forbade states from barring males from participating in female sports, and forced employers
