Mayor Adams is meeting with several other mayors from around the country Wednesday at Gracie Mansion to discuss how to better tackle gun violence and to “send a strong message on the national level and the state level.” Before the confab at the mayor’s official residence, Adams and three other mayors—St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Little Rock, Ark. New York gubernatorial hopeful Rep. Lee Zeldin was nearly stabbed at a campaign rally in Fairport, New York, a small town just outside of Rochester. The Republican was in the midst of a speech about bail reform as part of his 'United to Fire Hochul' campaign when he was confronted. A group of Zeldin supporters subdued the attacker. The man who took down Zeldin's would-be assailant was named as AMVETS national director Joe Chenelly, reports Rochester First.
