Mayor Adams is meeting with several other mayors from around the country Wednesday at Gracie Mansion to discuss how to better tackle gun violence and to “send a strong message on the national level and the state level.” Before the confab at the mayor’s official residence, Adams and three other mayors—St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Little Rock, Ark. Mayor Frank Scott Jr.—spoke on Good Morning America to lay out some of their goals. “We’re dealing with the same problem, a $9 billion industry that’s profits are turning profit into pain in our communities,” Adams said.(Snip)The mayors who are meeting on Wednesday are

How about enforcing the laws you already have, Mr. Mayor?

If/when my guns have life breathed into them and can crack my safe, sprout legs, and commit crimes, as the good mayor implies, I’ll personally have them crushed and melted.

Wouldn’t it be easier just to incarcerate all Republicans?

Gang bangers, drug dealers, and plain old crazy people, first. Then I'll not comply.
We all know that it isn't the 3% the Commiecrats are afraid of - they're politically agnostic anyway. It's the remaining 97% that worries the tyrants and we must be disarmed.

Hey Eric, what part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand. Gun registration is the last step before confiscation.

A gun database serves no purpose except to facilitate confiscation. It would prevent no crime.

Gun registration is specifically illegal by federal law. It is specifically illegal for ATF to compile a list of gun owners, but they do it anyway, I will bet $1,000.
The antigunners have been wanting this "list" for decades, because they intend to use it to go and confiscate all the guns at some point.
We must never let them compile a registry. They took one more step in that direction recently, unfortunately.
In past years, once a Federal Firearms Dealer's records reached 20 years, they could destroy them an many, perhaps most, did destroy them. So there were no records of guns purchased prior to, say 2002.
But....they just changed to require retention of sales records permanently. Not a good change.
Fortunately, the great majority of my guns were purchased long ago, or through private sales. I am sure that I am on their lists, because I have bought guns in the last 20 years, but only a comparative few.

He could start by incarcerating (with no cash bail) anyone using a gun in the commission of a crime.

First, try locking up dangerous criminals and enforcing our existing laws.
If that doesn't work we can consider your idea.

And, of course, criminals will not have to be listed because their guns are not registered.
I know, makes no sense to me either.

Damn Mayor Adams, you've solved it. All the criminals will rush to get on your database. Crime will disappear immediately. Sure to get a Nobel Peace Prize.

#11 is correct. We must never let them compile a registry. That's the first step they need for confiscation. Of course, we know we get on their "list" for other reasons. I am a life member of the NRA. If the feds have that member list, then they know who has one or more firearms.

Do you know what is worse than "a $9 billion industry that’s profits are turning profit into pain in our communities" (which is not true)? A political party which is turning their community's and country's pain into a big fund raising opportunities! The Democrats love to paint the gun companies as the bad guys while ignoring their own complicity in the rising crime rates through soft on crime and criminals policies. They let the criminals go, only to commit more crimes, then fund raise on law and order or gun control as a remedy for their failed policies.

Unconstitutional idea. Even if it weren't, though, I would be against it for practical, logistical reasons. As soon as a list goes operational, it begins incurring errors, whether through moves, transcription errors, hacking, "bit rot", etc. Maintaining accuracy (and consistency across redundant copies on multiple servers) will become a permanent headache, and a source of repeated injustices. Ever have your identity stolen? Want to have your identity frozen because inconsistencies between copies of your record were spotted by a data integrity bot?

The worst, most incompetent politicians blame problems in their own backyards on innocent people somewhere else to deflect the blame. Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Andrew Cuomo, Eric Adams, Lori Lightfoot, etc. etc. all practice the same target-shifting style. "Shall not infringe" is a very clear statement, leave us alone, we will not comply.

Little Mike Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns is a deflection from the fact that Democrats refuse to incarcerate the known criminal element, or to acknowledge and address the fact that 3% of the population commits nearly all violent crimes in the USA. So they blame the gun industry, probably as part of a shakedown, and never you mind that disarming the people will only increase violent crime by rendering people helpless against bad actors.
