Furniture was hurled during a huge brawl at a restaurant on San Antonio's River Walk after an angry customer took exception to what he claimed was a rip-off check and poor service. At least one waiter was injured after being struck during Monday's fight at the Republic of Texas restaurant, which sits along the city's famed waterfront Texas entertainment district. 'The suspect began to verbally argue with staff as well as the victim who was a part of the staff,' police told KENS 5.

I have such good memories of the Riverwalk.Twice in December, at an annual conference, we were treated to the filming of the Bob Hope Christmas special. He and his co-host, Felicia Rashad, led the boat parade singing Christmas songs (lyrics printed in 12" high letters on large card stock. The next morning there he was in front of the Alamo with Gov. Richards. A couple of years later he was back, this time with Gov. Bush. That time he and his wife came into the restaurant where we were eating. My only close-up with a very famous person. I love SA and the Riverwalk at Christmas. Never saw any problems. This makes me sad. Ramona (the Pest)

I love San Antonio. Always stay at the historic Menger Hotel which is just across the street from the Alamo. Also, walk through the Alamo a couple of times and at night it's beautiful to see from the outside too. The Riverwalk is pretty has some nice restaurants and shops too. Have gone to some of the old missions too. Remember the Alamo and support it.

Waiter probably forgot the dill pickle slice that went with his sandwich. That would certainly tick me off enough to start a brawl. Hope he got a good night sleep in the local jail.

Yes the Riverwalk has really high prices. I suppose, like most places now, that the service is very poor. Personally, I go to San Antonio for the Alamo and more historic sties in the area. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, and shops too, that are not on the Riverwalk. I do go to the Riverwalk too because like to see what going on and visit a few shops but I don't spend a lot of time there.

Truckers protesting a looming California labor law shut down one of the busiest seaports in the United States for the third day in a row. Operations were halted at the Port of Oakland on Wednesday as hundreds of independent big-rig truckers picketed gates and blocked other drivers from hauling cargo in and out of terminals at the port. The truckers are protesting Assembly Bill 5, a gig economy law passed in 2019 that sets tougher standards for classifying workers as independent contractors.

Lucky for you, you’re probably not a neighbor of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, but if you were, your evenings would be punctuated by “loud and vulgar,” almost-nightly protests from abortion proponents shouting about the recent SCOTUS overturn of Roe v. Wade. The Washington Post went to the tony Washington, D.C. suburb of Chevy Chase, Md. to interview Kavanaugh’s neighbors, and although many in the predominantly liberal enclave refused to go on record, most of the ones who did were not pleased with the disruptions.

Hunter Biden could reportedly be charged by the Justice Department for tax violations and lying to law enforcement about illegally purchasing a firearm, as the probe into President Joe Biden’s son comes to a head. Trump-appointed U.S. prosecutor David Weiss is deliberating whether to charge Hunter for “making a false statement in connection with Biden’s purchase of a firearm at a time he would have been prohibited from doing so because of his acknowledged struggles with drug addiction,” CNN reported Wednesday. As Breitbart News reported, Hunter may have lied on paperwork he submitted when purchasing a handgun in 2018 by not disclosing his drug additions.

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Beat,” Senate Majority Whip Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) responded to Sen. Host Ari Melber asked, “Is the global macro inflation a reason not to do something on climate right now? The president stopped short of issuing a national climate emergency, but said he would use executive powers to address the issue. “As president I’ll use my executive powers to combat climate crisis in the absence of Congressional action,” Biden added.

Long-time political strategist Dick Morris, formerly of the Clinton camp before coming to the light some years ago, penned a piece for Newsmax yesterday that predicted a 2016 rematch pitting twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton against former president – and America’s most popular politician – Donald Trump. Clinton just can’t give it a rest. She has rested her entire legacy on one day sitting in the Oval Office as this nation’s first female president. Of course, her party can’t define the term “woman” anymore, and then there’s the fact that she hates this country and most of the deplorables living in it.

The poll comes from the Casper-Star Tribune and was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy. Hageman has 52 percent support, while Rep. Cheney has 30 percent. No other candidate has more than 5 percent. Just 11 percent are undecided.

As the United States continues to come to grips with the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, I cannot stop thinking about how the court used a legal system built entirely by men to diminish women — once again — into nothing more than a vessel for producing babies. I am a rabbi in a legal system that excluded women for thousands of years, much like the legal system that the Supreme Court relied on in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. But unlike the American legal system, the Jewish tradition, in certain respects, including abortion, found a way to craft laws grounded in equal dignity for women.

In the past fifty years, we’ve had precisely ten different First Ladies in America. Some of them spent their time in the White House mostly under the radar, with Rosalynn Carter and both Laura and Barbara Bush falling into this category. Others such as Nancy Reagan with her fondness for astronomy and Betty Ford with her personal challenges were somewhat quirkier, but they were likeable and mostly unremarkable. Both Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama could be outspoken and controversial, but at least they were mostly clever and competent. And then we have Jill Biden. The adage “opposites attract” may be true in some cases,
