Grandparents lost their appeal to a committee that voted to keep a book with same-sex oral sex acts and other sexual content on library shelves in Salem, Oregon, schools. The book at the center of the controversy is Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe, which details the author’s “journey toward coming out as nonbinary and asexual.” Two other schools in the district will also keep the book on library shelves. “[The book] implies to the student that this type of behavior is completely acceptable and normal,” the complaint from Mike and Ellie Mallek said. “It could lead to a life of pornography addiction and deviant behavior. It could damage

Grade school? No. High school? Probably ok.
As a civil rights issue this is just ludicrous. If gay men and lesbians are, “born that way,” then no level of indoctrination— none, all the way up to full immersion— will have the slightest effect.
And isn’t this still a representative Republic? If so, I’m not seeing how

…the content of public school literary content gets to be determined for the other 96%.
Possibly graphic sexual material of any kind doesn’t belong in public school at all. Why not take a gentle, conservative approach to these young people and allow them to work out their identity with their consciences, their parents and their family doctor.
Public education should be about getting across the basics.

There's a multitude of reasons why bi-sexual Kate Brown is the least popular governor in the United States. The local MSM looks the other way because of their TDS. Many cesspools in Oregon.

All but one of the committee members are paid by the taxpayers, yet the taxpayer is not allowed to view or read their deliberations. That arrogance, right there, explains an awful lot of what's wrong with the public schools and government, in general.

Now you take them to court charging criminal negligence and endangering the welfare of the children entrusted to them.

This is part of a broader plan to confuse children and plant ideas of sexual deviancy and immorality and to groom them for the same lifestyles when they are older. This is just giving the ok that this type of thing is good and acceptable. It is satanic and wrong on all levels. Take your kids out, home school them or put them in good Christian schools.

Would it surprise anyone if Oregon was tied with California as the stupidest state in America? Compare Portland with San Francisco for example. Perversion & dysfunctionality abound. Time for home schooling thereby giving the finger to the teachers union as well as the pervs in charge for now.

Stop paying property taxes until taxpayers are respected. To those of you who think such material might be appropriate for high schoolers - no it isn’t. It has no place in a school library. #8 Oregon already is the Appalachia of the West except with better teeth.

Depravity is Salem, OR's middle name. Vote them out and make a difference. Otherwise you are living in the Hunger Games.

Here’s the plan: If a kid actually gets born nowadays they feed him a steady diet of this crap in hopes they will be so messed up that they will blow their brains out at the first opportunity. Kill me now or kill me later....mission accomplished.

Utterly disgusting. At that age I was enamored of horses (still am) and was reading King of the Wind (an Arabian horse) and also reading about the horse ridden by Alexander the Great. I can’t believe small children want to be reading about oral sex. Their first reaction is probably, “Ewww, icky!”

Are there any conservatives left in Oregon? If so, are they smart enough to make ads about this for the election?

Once again, the problem is in what's MISSING. Our children are being taught about sexual deviations but they are NOT being taught about them IN CONTEXT. Kids are told that their peers may be transgender and what (allegedly) transgender is. BUT they are NOT being taught that only about .5% of students 13 years old and up identify as transgender. A half of 1%. So teachers and the media are providing DISTORTED information because the full context is being withheld. Kids have no clue it's just a tiny percentage and instead mistakenly believe that just about all of their peers could be trans. And they aren't sophisticated enough to ask for complete data. The end result is they just hush up and accept whatever they're told because above all they want to be seen as nonjudgmental and politically correct. The Left has a good thing going; don't expect them to change tactics any time soon. Always look for what's missing. They lie by omission.

Keep checking out the book at every library. Or, destroy it when you check it out. Every single time.

Well sure; the entire point of this is to confuse children and possibly to destroy their future. Things are so far gone that nothing short of book burnings coming back in style will set things right.
