Gov. Gavin Newsom is pushing back on criticism and news stories about his family vacation to visit his in-laws in Montana for the Fourth of July. A law then-Gov. Jerry Brown signed in 2016 bans taxpayer-financed travel to Montana and other states with policies that discriminate on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation. Among countless state and national headlines blasting the governor's visit to his in-law's ranch, FOX News dubbed it the latest example of Newsom "flouting his own state laws." But some key details were overlooked, or dismissed, in the frenzy, Newsom said. “My frustration with the

California bans travel to Montana, Governor. The statue is explicit, and the law applies especially to you, as you are a state employee, and are always on the clock. It is atrocious how you led your security detail into flouting the law.

Technically he is correct the exemption "the protection of public health, welfare or safety," and a Governor does get protection when he leaves the state. But, it just the type of loophole, lawyers and D''Rats love to exploit. Just another "it's good to be the King" moment for our politicians that never seem to be feeling our pain.

Right you are, #6. The laws that apply to Californians do not necessarily apply to him. It's how AOC is trying to get away without paying her taxes, or how Pelosi isn't investigated for insider trading, or how the Biden's don't have a microscope up their collective @sses (like Trump and his family did) even though everyone knows Joe had his hand out for graft in every single piece of legislation he ever had....I've said it before and will say it again: the Democrats are the most successful crime syndicate in the history of the world.

Well, when he's elected President (and he will be, someday - it's destiny) First Lady Jennifer will be able to vacation all around the world - and the family won't have to pay for any of it. Mooch and the Doctor can provide tips on how it's done.

These people are tedious, predictable, and dumber than dirt.
I guess they keep playing the Blame (others) and Name (calling) Game because it works.

Yes, and criticism of his lavish dinner during the necessary lockdowns and shutdowns with no masks and social distancing at The French Laundry was wrong and unfair too, ain't that right Governor Brylcream? My daughter is a waitress and knows servers that worked that night and they said you are a cheapass SOB. They said if you ever come back they will clock out and go home.

Poster 14, I am not surprised to learn Newsom is a “cheapass SOB.” Liberals believe there is no end to the good that can be done with other people’s money.

I am the leader of the ruling Politburo. How dare the unwashed peasants question where I went on vacation?!?!?!?!? The rules only apply to the peasants, not to the rulers!!!!!
The Socialist paradise of Cuba-fornication has been a dictatorship for years. You should know the rules by now!!!

Newsom is a bright shiny hypocrite. He earns a CA salary even when he's on vacation and so does his protection detail. He obviously has different rules for different folks. After all, he's a demonrat. Do as I say, not as I do.

Face it, Gavin, nobody likes you and your political career is already over. How is the Montana trip any different than Guv Whitmer attempting to get her boat out on the lake after she banned boating in Michigan? How is it any different from Aunt Nancy getting her hair done when she closed hair salons? It's called Democrat Privilege. That's unfair.
