The Justice Department has filed suit against Arizona challenging its recently enacted voting law that requires proof of citizenship in order to vote in presidential elections.
The lawsuit contends that certain restrictions in Arizona's House Bill 2492 directly violate Section 6 of the National Voter Registration Act and Section 101 of the Civil Rights Act.
The Supreme Court previously rejected an effort by Arizona in 2013 to require its residents to provide proof of citizenship in order to participate in federal elections, though after President Joe Biden's victory against Donald Trump in 2020 the state quickly sought to implement a similar mandate in passing House Bill 2492.

We are one of the few civilized countries that do not require proof of citizenship. Obviously, the only reason to not require proof is to aid in cheating…

You see what they are doing here? Making it a national rule to let anyone vote without ID.

But the same government requires proof of citizenship before issuing a passport or clearance. You need it if you're joining the military. In fact, you have to prove it every time you get hired when you fill out a government I9 form.
The ONLY reason to oppose this is if you WANT non-citizens to vote.

Election laws are up to individual states—definitely NOT the purview of the federal DOJ. KMA!

We see what you're doing there you little communists. Imagine their dismay if this goes to the Supreme Court and they lose. It will make Roe v Wade look like a backfence argument over falling leaves.

It would be a shame to waste all of that taxpayer money on a couple of million illegal aliens if they can't vote.

Sorry DOJ you do not have Standing in the States.

If the government can require that proof for various documents like your driver's license, passports and other things, then why is it so hard to understand why decent people want the fraud and illegal voters stopped?

A correct and legal election for public office in the United States is one wherein only qualified living citizens are given the opportunity to cast a legal ballot once and once only, and only legal ballots are counted once and once only thereby producing an exact count of legal ballots cast for a candidate. Anything outside these bounds is illegal and the perpetrator(s) must be prosecuted for corruption.

Article II
Section 1
Paragraph 2: "Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature therof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress...
TLDR for the DOJ: you have no authority over how any State legislature chooses its Electors, and it's time for the SOTUS to go back to the basic rule book and remind you of this.
