The uncle of Robert “Bobby” Crimo III — the person of interest in Highland Park’s 4th of July parade mass shooting — said there were no signals that his 22-year-old nephew would carry out such carnage.
“There were no signs that I saw that would make him do this,” Paul Crimo told CNN in a Monday night interview after his nephew was taken into custody in connection to the shooting.
Robert Crimo was described as a recluse by his uncle and others who knew him, including neighbors and former classmates.
Police said at a press conference announcing the arrest it is believed Robert Crimo was responsible for the hail of bullets

Yesterday on July 4, Atlantic magazine published an op-ed by Senator Mitt Romney titled "America Is in Denial."
Romney began by claiming that Americans tend to be divorced from reality.
He cited examples of water being wasted on lawns and golf courses despite reservoirs drying up, and progressive politicians voting to increase government spending despite inflation and growing national debt.
After the inane generalities, Romney began inching toward his real target: Donald Trump.

The man suspected of killing six people and wounding more than a dozen others during a July 4th parade in Highland Park is a Donald Trump-supporting rapper with a seemingly-successful music career.
Robert 'Bobby' Crimo III, 22, goes by the moniker, Awake the Rapper, in his music career. According to his Spotify page, he boasts more than 16,000 listeners per month and has a net worth of $100,000.
The rap career has taken on a chilling relevance in the wake of the shooting.
Music videos posted by Crimo online last fall include a drawing of himself shooting people online, and a disturbing clip of himself throwing bullets

Former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was a “fascist.”
According to Dean, that made him “much scarier” than former President Donald Trump as a potential 2024 Republican presidential nominee. Guest host Jason Johnson, “You now have some Republicans who are saying, hey, look. Maybe Donald Trump shouldn’t run again. Maybe it will be a problem. Maybe, you know, him running with all these allegations and all this violence associated with him, maybe it ends up being damaging with the party.” He asked, “Do you think any of these potential allegations could influence when he will make an announcement? It’s a fairly common phenomenon, though we normally see it with adolescents and teenagers. They bite the hand that feeds them, then come back with their tails between their legs pleading for help.
The 14-year-old lashes out at Dad for making him cut the lawn, then asks him for $200 for a new pair of Adidas shoes that same afternoon. The newly licensed driver says, “Yeah, yeah, yeah” on her way out the door with the car keys as Mom reminds her to drive safely, and then calls home in tears two hours later after she gets into a fender-bender. And the 19-year-old college freshman gets punched at a rally

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney (D) reacted to gun violence in his city by suggesting Tuesday morning that only the police should have guns.
FOX News reports that Kenney spoke to reporters after two Philadelphia police officers were wounded by gunshots on July 4.
McKinney reflected on July 4, saying, “It was a chilled back day, beautiful weather. But we live in America where we have the Second Amendment and we have the Supreme Court of the United States telling everybody they can carry a gun wherever they want.”

How twisted is Chief Justice John Roberts?
Let us count the ways.
The conservative movement worked unceasingly for almost a half-century to undo Roe v. Wade, the 7-2 Supreme Court ruling that shocked the world by abruptly legalizing abortion from coast to coast in 1973.

The Justice Department has filed suit against Arizona challenging its recently enacted voting law that requires proof of citizenship in order to vote in presidential elections.
The lawsuit contends that certain restrictions in Arizona's House Bill 2492 directly violate Section 6 of the National Voter Registration Act and Section 101 of the Civil Rights Act.
The Supreme Court previously rejected an effort by Arizona in 2013 to require its residents to provide proof of citizenship in order to participate in federal elections, though after President Joe Biden's victory against Donald Trump in 2020 the state quickly sought to implement a similar mandate in passing House Bill 2492.

Last Thursday, the Supreme Court officially ended its term after releasing final opinions on a number of cases.
But the Supreme Court still hasn't revealed who leaked the draft opinion of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization at the beginning of May. “It’s been 63 days since the draft Dobbs opinion leaked, and the Supreme Court leaker has still not been identified.”

Hunter Biden turned up for this year’s White House Independence Day celebration amid growing calls by Republicans to investigate the scandal-plagued 52-year-old’s business dealings. Mr. Biden was joined by his South African filmmaker wife Melissa Cohen and their 2-year-old son, Beau, for a weekend with the president and first lady at Camp David before attending the Fourth of July cookout and watching the fireworks display from the White House. The high-profile appearance follows a July 1 op-ed in the New York Post in which House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and GOP Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and James Comer of Kentucky pledged to investigate
