Representative Liz Cheney left the door open on the possibility of a 2024 presidential run on Sunday. Following last year's attack on the U.S. Capitol, the Wyoming Republican emerged as one of the most vocal critics of former President Donald Trump within the Republican Party. She also sits on the House select committee that is investigating the January 6 attack, and has warned against what she views as Trump's negative influence on both the country and GOP. During an interview on ABC News' This Week, journalist Jonathan Karl asked Cheney if she plans to run for president in 2024 "as

Even as we watch the reservoirs and lakes of the West go dry, we keep watering our lawns, soaking our golf courses, and growing water-thirsty crops. (snip) As the ice caps melt and record temperatures make the evening news, we figure that buying a Prius and recycling the boxes from our daily Amazon deliveries will suffice. (Snip) And when a renowned conservative former federal appellate judge testifies that we are already in a war for our democracy and that January 6, 2021, was a genuine constitutional crisis, MAGA loyalists snicker that he speaks slowly and celebrate that most people werenât watching.

Infectious disease experts and public health advocates are warning that the Biden administration has been too slow to respond to the monkeypox outbreak and that the U.S. is at risk of losing control of the disease. The response to monkeypox is mirroring the worst parts of the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, they say, with severely limited testing and a sluggish rollout of vaccines leading to a virus thatâs spreading undetected. âWhere we have lagged is streamlining testing, making vaccines available, streamlining access to the best therapeutics.(Snip)Unlike COVID-19, monkeypox is not a novel virus, and the strategies to reduce the spread are well known.

Governor Gavin Newsom released attack ads on Monday urging Florida residents to move to California in the days after it became the first state to move to offer all illegal immigrants state-subsidized health insurance. Newsom bought $105,000 worth of ad spots that started airing on Fox News in Florida, which is sparking speculation that he could mount a presidential run in 2024.(Snip)Last weekend, Newsom released a Fiscal Year 2023 budget that includes offering undocumented immigrants, regardless of age, state-subsidized health insurance. The expansion in healthcare is part of Medi-Cal, which already offers coverage for illegal immigrants younger than 26 and over 50âas well as recipients

Sen. Mitt Romney penned a Fourth of July op-ed for The Atlantic warning Americans that they're failing to confront serious challenges and that they need to wake up.
'President Joe Biden is a genuinely good man, but he has yet been unable to break through our national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust,' Romney writes. 'A return of Donald Trump would feed the sickness, probably rendering it incurable.'
The opinion piece is entitled, 'America Is in Denial,' with Romney pointing to issues like climate change, the border crisis and rising inflation that are getting ignored by large swaths of the population,

Because Independence Day always makes for a slow news weekend, that leaves room for looking at and thinking about other news stories that wouldnât normally make the grade at American Thinker. The one that caught my eye was the Daily Mailâs huge photo essay showing the wedding of Charlotte Freud, one of Rupert Murdochâs granddaughters, to Luke Storey, a rapper. It was held in the exquisitely picturesque English Cotswold district but the photos are a testament to the death of beauty in the modern era.
If you like things that are quintessentially English, the Cotswold district is the place for you:

Vice President Kamala Harris likened the end of Roe v. Wade to slavery by saying that the Supreme Court's ruling was an example of the United States government 'trying to claim ownership over human bodies.'
Harris made the comparison while speaking at the Essence Festival in New Orleans on Saturday.
'We have to recognize we're a nation that was founded on certain principles that are â that are grounded in the concept of freedom and liberty,' she told the crowd.
'We also know that we've had a history in this country of government trying to claim ownership over human bodies. And we had supposedly evolved from that time

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is under fire from fellow Democrats for flight delays and cancellations that have paralyzed the nationâs airports, wrecked holiday travel plans and caused Americans undue financial stress. Progressive lawmakers, in particular, say Mr. Buttigieg needs to do more to rein in airline companies that have taken billions in public subsidies since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. âItâs time for the Transportation Department to impose massive fines on poor-performing airlines,â said Sen. Bernard Sanders, a self-described socialist from Vermont.
In an email to supporters, Mr. Sanders called on the White House and Mr. Buttigieg to require airlines to refund passengers for flights delayed more

Jump out of a perfectly good airplane, charge a machine gun nest, be stationed at Ft. Irwin â these are just three of the myriad miseries American patriots are willing to endure to defend our country. But today's military is asking too much of our young people, as evidenced by the crashing recruitment rates that threaten to deplete a military already running short of soldiers. Have our young people suddenly turned from heroes to zeros, ne'er-do-well heirs of the brave warriors who confronted the forces of tyrannical gun control at Lexington and Concord?

Police in Akron, Ohio, unleashed a wave of tear gas on protesters who gathered outside of the city's main courthouse on Sunday night.
Several hundred protesters marched in the city in the hours after the Akron Police Department released the bodycam footage showing the shooting death of 25-year-old Jayland Walker.
Walker was killed after being shot at least 60 times by Akron cops following a traffic stop on June 27.

Five people are dead and at least 16 are injured after a shooting at a July 4th parade in the affluent Chicago suburb of Highland Park.
The shooter - who remains at large - is said to have opened fire from the roof of what was an Uncle Dan's outdoor outfitting store, picking off people in the crowd who at first confused the sound of gunshots to with firecrackers and fireworks.
Chicago Sun Times reporter Lynn Sweet was at the parade when gunfire rang out. She has since shared photos and videos from the event which show people lying on the ground, and has described it as a 'bloodbath'.

President Joe Bidenâs border with Mexico is the deadliest land crossing in the world, according to a United Nations group, the International Organization for Migration.
âMore than 1,238 lives have been lost during migration in the [north, central and south] Americas in 2021, among them at least 51 children,â said the groupâs July 1 report.
âAt least 728 of these deaths occurred on the United States-Mexico border crossing, making this the deadliest land crossing in the world,â said the IOM statement, which added:
