Most Christians who oppose abortion believe that the practice involves killing. The Bible is pretty clear about that. Campus Reform reports: ‘There is no biblical basis for the ban on abortion,’ Yale Divinity School claims. Yale Divinity School (YDS) published a pro-abortion statement that opposed the recent Supreme Court decision to reverse Roe v. Wade, claiming there is no “biblical basis” for abortion bans.(Snip)Sterling cites Exodus 21:22-25 to suggest that the Bible distinguishes between the life of a child and a fetus.(Snip)“It is not at all clear that today’s decision reflects a text like Exodus 21:22–25.”

There appears to be a disconnect between Yale’s perspective on there not being a “biblical basis” for abortion bans. The Scripture passage being cited as the foundation of “no biblical basis” for abortion bans (Exodus 21:22-25) FOLLOWS the presentation of The Ten Commandments to Moses (Exodus 20:2-17) wherein God commands, “Thou shalt not murder.” The Scripture passage cited by Yale is a directive/law/penalty in the Old Testament to atone for the sin of murdering an unborn child whereas The Ten Commandments are directives/laws for all humanity for all time; therefore,“Thou shalt not murder” is the precedent for a biblical basis to ban abortions.
God knows us before we are born: Psalm 139:13-16, Job 31:15, Isaiah 44:2, Jeremiah 1:5, Galatians 1:15
God named babies in the womb before they were born: Ishmael, Genesis 16:11 – Isaac, Genesis 17:19 – Solomon, 1 Chronicles 22:9 – Josiah, 1 Kings 13:2 - Cyrus, Isaiah 44:28 – John, (the Baptizer) Luke 1:13 – JESUS, Matthew 1:21
The totality of Scripture is to be obeyed and not “simplistic appeals” to cafeteria selections of biblical passages in attempts to negate the totality of Scripture.
The declaration that the overturning of Roe v. Wade does not promote life and a that “The decision is a step backward for human rights” disregards the reality that the overturning is a welcome, necessary, precious effort to protect/preserve the life of the baby within a mother’s womb—it is a step forward for human rights of the unborn.

Thank you Harlowe for a complete rebuttal to the idiots at Yale. Speaking of these idiots at Yale, they remind me of the scripture... that they while thinking they were wise, became fools. It takes a spiritual person to discern spiritual things. They are not. The Yale Divinity School has a form of godliness but denies the power thereof.

These exact same fools are the first to scream separation of church and state. There is no biblical bases to create crimes for not answering a kangaroo court's demand for testimony. Based on that, a lot of Trump supporters should go free.

Amen, fellow Ldotters. Especial thanks to #1.
Even the Yale-ites have to pull out the Scriptures, even if only to try to find justification for the abominations they crave to continue and encourage. That's blasphemy, a "mishandling of the Word of God."

Satan was also adept at quoting scripture to Jesus. He still is, apparently. Matthew 4:1-11.

Thank you #1 for the list of Biblical citations regarding naming.
The Yale "Divinity" School should just shut its doors, or at least be truthful in advertising and change its name to Yale's Satanism School to better reflect reality. I'm really not surprised by this turn of events. Lucifer and his followers are well versed in Scripture, as even the Devil had the temerity to quote such to Christ Himself during His forty days in the desert prior to the beginning of His public ministry.
Satan's favorite trick is to take a single passage out of context, or twist the definition of a pivotal word to make his listener question their own understanding and accept the Devil's interpretation. For those that only have a passing cultural understanding of Scripture, never having read the Bible themselves, they are easily deceived. Lukewarm and unchurched Christians are also in grave danger of falling for false prophets and interpretations.
For fifty human years Satan has celebrated the killing of innocence in the womb, and the defamation of the wonder of a woman and motherhood. He is howling in pain and his minions on earth are reflecting his anguish. In my mind I see the scene from "The Passion of the Christ" just after the death of Jesus, and Satan is screaming and twisting in utter defeat.
Whenever you see a violent Lefty act, a crazy statement, an unhinged demonstration; understand that the enemy is in anguish because they know they are losing. Be at peace. Pray and stay strong. The battle is raging, but the victory is ours.

My response to the Yale Divinity School is So What? One doesn’t need the Bible to know that the entity being aborted is a human baby. People opposed to taking the life of a fetus include Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, pagans and atheists.
Discarding Roe V Wade had zero to do with the Bible or religion. Restricting severely abortion or even outlawing it completely can be legislated without a nod to the Bible or any religion.

and there's no Biblical basis for abortion, either and there never will be so, I wouldn't trust anything coming from Yale to corroborate any fact or statement of fact on any subject especially if it's a "political" matter

The question is whether or not there is a Constitutional basis for the claim that there is a ''right'' to have an abortion.
The word ''abortion'' never appears in the Constitution and it is not codified in Federal Law. That means that there is no Constitutional basis for the claim.
The book of Exodus is not a legal document in the United States.

The real problem with Yale's School of Divinity, is that they think they're talking about themselves. The teachers may not openly claim to be God or Jesus Christ, but they firmly believe they have equal standing.

Yale Divinity School is using isogesis. Meaning, using their own bias to determine what the scripture means not what it says.

I interpret these verses this way: if the child is born premature (without harm), then the injurer gets fined. If there is harm (death to the child), then pay life for life, etc. The rules are not talking about the harm to the woman, but to the child.

It that's what they believe, fine. They can vote to allow abortions in their states. Those who differ can vote to restrict abortions. The Dobbs decision does not ban abortions and certainly does not address what the Bible says or does not say about abortion.

This is a particularly WICKED generation that seeks to begin a life in order to end it. In times past people waited to have children until after they were married; to do otherwise was societally ruinous for a woman - instantly becoming a prostitute. In fact, people actually wanted children back then. What leftist-humanists seek to do with their bodies today is nothing short of Baal Worship.

The Yale Divinity School should stick to teaching its students how to make the confection of egg whites, corn syrup and sugar, and stay the heck out of religious debates.

"Thou shalt not kill" is explicitly stated in the Bible, unlike rights to "privacy" and infanticide that the left says are implied in the Constitution but not explicitly stated. Oh, and the right to bear arms is also explicitly stated--so it's perfectly okay for the left to ignore it.

Please stop with the 'thou shalt not kill' quote. It is MURDER that is forbidden. People KILL people all the time, everyday. The righteous kill in self defense or the defense of others. Sinners, monsters, MURDER a baby by tearing it apart in the womb.
Also it is the LOVE of money that is the root of evil. Money can do wonderful things for good causes, the more the better. Riding roughshod over morals to acquire more is the seed for a lot of evil.
