Washington - The Supreme Court on Wednesday backed Oklahoma's years long struggle for jurisdiction over certain crimes that take place on Native American land, a decision with implications for prosecutions of other crimes on Native territory. The 5-4 decision comes two years after the nation's highest court handed down a ruling that vastly expanded what is considered Native territory in Oklahoma. Though Oklahoma officials had asked the Supreme Court to overturn that recent ruling, the high court declined to consider that request when it agreed to hear the case in January. Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote the majority opinion. Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote a dissent

The Cherokee and Choctaw in particular, never wanted to be removed from their homes in the US Southeast to be forcibly placed on reservations in OK. Andrew Jackson defied the Supreme Court in having them rounded up and sent to OK on the Trail of Tears, where a third to a half of them died enroute. No sympathy? Compare that to our current president’s policies in inviting ever greater numbers of foreign invaders to waltz into whatever US city/state of their choosing, while subsidizing their presence.

My cousins daughter was shot and killed by her Indian husband in their home on an Indian rez, the incident was handled by the rez police and courts and he got away with it. Scott free. As you can tell by my tone, I still have a hard spot in my heart over the whole situation. It also cooled my sympathies over the plight of the “poor red man.”

The Cherokee tribe slaughtered 500 white women and children in one raid, which might have influenced President Jackson's decision to move them out.

They didn’t settle the Indians in Colorado or Wyoming! They sent them to a crummy dust bowl in OK! We treated native Americans very badly!

Washington — The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to take up an elections case brought by North Carolina Republicans that could diminish the power of state courts to order changes to rules for federal elections and the redrawing of congressional districts approved by state lawmakers. The dispute involves the "independent state legislature" theory, which was invoked by Chief Justice William Rehnquist's concurring opinion in Bush v. Gore and raised by former President Donald Trump and Republicans during the 2020 presidential election. Under the theory, the Constitution grants state legislatures the sole authority to regulate federal elections in their states, without oversight from state courts. The dispute stems from the redistricting process undertaken

Their latest poll, conducted in partnership with NORC, shows 85% of Americans believing that the country is headed in the wrong direction, including more than three out of every four Democrats: An overwhelming and growing majority of Americans say the U.S. is heading in the wrong direction, including nearly 8 in 10 Democrats, according to a new poll that finds deep pessimism about the economy plaguing President Joe Biden. Eighty-five percent of U.S. adults say the country is on the wrong track, and 79% describe the economy as poor,

Washington - The Supreme Court handed President Joe Biden a victory Thursday, ruling that he can shut down a Trump administration program designed to restrict immigration at the southern border. The court said the Biden administration acted properly in seeking to end the "Remain in Mexico" policy, formally known as the Migrant Protection Protocols. It required people seeking asylum at the southern border, mainly from Central America, to wait in Mexico while their claims were decided. From late January 2019 until Biden suspended the program, more than 68,000 people were shuttled back to Mexico. Tent cities sprang up near border entry stations on the Mexican side of the border.

Speaking from the NATO summit in Madrid on Thursday, President Joe Biden condemned the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and called for an exception to the Senate filibuster to codify the federal right to abortion. “We have to codify Roe v. Wade in the law, and the way to do that, is to make sure that Congress votes to do that,” Biden said in response to a question from a Wall Street Journal reporter. He called the Supreme Court’s ruling “outrageous” and insisted that an exception to the filibuster is warranted to ensure the passage of legislation protecting unrestricted abortion access. Biden then claimed

The Supreme Court on Thursday curbed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ability to regulate climate change, setting limits on how the agency can deal with power plants. In a 6-3 ruling, the justices determined that Congress did not authorize the EPA to induce a shift toward cleaner energy sources using the approach that an Obama-era regulation sought to. “Congress did not grant EPA…the authority to devise emissions caps based on the generation shifting approach the Agency took in the Clean Power Plan,” the majority wrote. The ruling was spurred by an appeal to a decision last year that struck down a Trump-era power plant rule.

If Paramount is trying to seek amends for its awful Halo live-action series, then this is one way to do it. A common trend not too long ago was streaming services removing episodes from shows that contained content that wasn’t considered too taboo at the time but is considered controversial today. A few years ago, Netflix  infamously removed an episode from “The Office” and “Community” for black-face jokes. Naturally, because one corporation did it, the woke culture censorship brigades will feel emboldened to come after other companies, but Paramount isn’t playing along. According to Bounding Into Comics, Paramount CEO Bob Bakish is telling the easily offended that he won’t be deleting anything

Mr. Zamorano, 45, faces a charge of smuggling resulting in death, which carries a possible death sentence. Mr. Martinez, 28, was charged with conspiracy to smuggle aliens resulting in death, which prosecutors said also carries a potential death sentence.

Israel and its supporters hailed the decision as a major victory against the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. Unilever has sold its Ben & Jerry’s business interests in Israel to Avi Zinger, the Israeli manufacturer and distributor of the brand, who will now be independent. The military is facing the worst recruiting environment since the end of the Vietnam War. The Army is at only 40% of its recruiting numbers for the fiscal year despite raising its maximum enlistment bonus from $40,000 to $50,000. It now offers new recruits up to $10,000 for showing up to basic training in 30 days. And is no longer even asking them for a high school diploma. "We've never offered $50,000 to join the Army," Maj. Gen. Kevin Vereen, head of U.S. Army Recruiting Command, said. While the Army runs anime lesbian wedding ads, it’s pushing away the recruits it needs, young patriotic men from traditional backgrounds.

Abortion provisions in blue states, where Biden may retain some modicum of popularity, remain unchanged and may wind up even being expanded. Some employers have vowed to pay for the travel expenses to enable employees to go to another state to terminate a pregnancy.
