Incumbent Rep. Sean Casten, D-Ill., secured his party's nomination and defeated his progressive rival, incumbent Rep. Marie Newman, D-Ill., the Associated Press projects, and will advance to the general election against a Republican this fall as he hopes to continue representing residents of Illinois' 6th Congressional District in the House. (Snip) Newman, considered a progressive Democrat in the House who has enjoyed support from Justice Democrats, a far-left organization that helps elect progressive candidates, currently represents the state's Third Congressional District in the House. She has held that position since she was first elected in 2020 after defeating her Republican

Comments:

Both candidates are a bit kooky but Newman got caught bribing a potential rival with a cushy job offer. One less AOC clone.

Great news for the country: a “moderate” democrat, i.e., just of the looney left, defeats a radical left, i.e., Trotskyite, candidate. I must add I love the puss on the picture of that execrable old bat that lost.

The new Illinois 6th is a Cooks PVI of D+6. That's a default 6% advantage, (historically). We stand serious chance of picking this seat up. But, we need to defuse their get out the vote - abortion hysteria. There is o sense in losing an election over abortion in a state that is looking to pick up an influx of abortions from other states.

WASHINGTON — Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Thursday launched a $1 billion first-of-its-kind pilot program aimed at helping reconnect cities and neighborhoods racially segregated or divided by road projects, pledging wide-ranging help to dozens of communities despite the program’s limited dollars. Under the Reconnecting Communities program, cities and states can now apply for the federal aid over five years to rectify harm caused by roadways that were built primarily through lower-income, Black communities after the 1950s creation of the interstate highway system. New projects could include rapid bus transit lines to link disadvantaged neighborhoods to jobs; caps built on top

The military is facing the worst recruiting environment since the end of the Vietnam War. The Army is at only 40% of its recruiting numbers for the fiscal year despite raising its maximum enlistment bonus from $40,000 to $50,000. It now offers new recruits up to $10,000 for showing up to basic training in 30 days. And is no longer even asking them for a high school diploma. "We've never offered $50,000 to join the Army," Maj. Gen. Kevin Vereen, head of U.S. Army Recruiting Command, said.
