Sunday, during this week’s broadcast of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA) argued for her January 6 House Select Committee colleague Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) to be the face of the Republican Party going forward.
Luria said her voice was “needed” when asked about the prospects of Luria running for president as a Republican in 2024.
“I admire Liz Cheney,” she said. “I’ve been friendly with her ever since I came to Congress, even before we served on this committee together. And I think, you know, if she doesn’t come through this primary and come back to Congress, there are so many things that she can do in the future

President Joe Biden is considering issuing government identification (ID) cards to border crossers and illegal aliens who are set for release into American communities as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) expansive “catch and release” operation.
Late last week, Axios reported that Biden is considering issuing the IDs to illegal aliens once they arrived at the United States-Mexico border. The goal is to make securing public benefits easier once they are released into the U.S. interior.
Axios’s Stef Kight reports:
The Biden administration plans to test providing temporary I.D. cards to unauthorized immigrants awaiting a final decision on their cases,

Malia Obama was spotted showing off her athletic physique as she went out for some exercise near her California home weeks after celebrating her 24th birthday.
The older daughter of former President Barack Obama wore a black, long-sleeve midriff top with matching black yoga pants, black and white sneakers and sunglasses resting on top of her head.
Malia, 24, went out accompanied by a friend on Saturday morning as they carried their cellphones in hand and canned drinks to help fend off the 90 degree weather in Brentwood.

Bio-weapons are being developed that use specific DNA to target and kill individuals through their medical profile, a Democrat member of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee warned Friday.
Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), a U.S. Army veteran, used the Aspen Security Forum to warn Americans to be more judicious about sharing their DNA with private companies due to the coming of new bioweapon types.
His call is a repeat of one made in 2019 when concerns about China acquiring the DNA of American service members prompted the Pentagon to issue an advisory to the entire force against using commercial popular DNA testing kits to trace one’s ancestry.

Sunday morning Jonathan Turley announced on Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID. He did as many do, he tried to post a creative tweet, something other than just a basic I-have-COVID type of announcement. He succeeded. He takes the award for best COVID announcement, at least among recent ones.
We can all use some levity today. Turley provides that levity. Take a look. (Tweet) Nice. Turley calls for a special counsel in the Hunter Biden investigation because he is warning about the outcome we all expect. Hunter Biden lives a charmed life where he never is held responsible for his actions.

Once again, the Senate filibuster is under attack. With each passing salvo, the 60-vote threshold stands on shakier legs. Unless we enshrine the filibuster in our Constitution, its days are numbered, as is the political stability we enjoy.
Earlier this year, President Biden declared his support for “changing the Senate rules... to prevent a minority of senators from blocking actions on voting rights.” Now, with Roe v. Wade fresh off the chopping block, congressional Democrats have renewed their attacks on American institutional norms. Protesting in front of the Supreme Court, Representative Andy Levin declared: “The filibuster is a vestige of Jim Crow,” one which “[o]ur founding fathers didn’t want” and

Despite the hyper-partisan efforts of the Jan. 6 committee hearings and their predetermined objective of recommending criminal charges against former President Donald Trump, evidence has continued to mount on the side of reality leading Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume to drop the hammer on Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL).
Following Thursday’s primetime edition of the Jan. 6 show trial, investigative journalist and founder of Just the News, John Solomon, called out the committee for deliberately ignoring concrete evidence that destroys their narrative while referencing a specific Pentagon memo. Hume shared that post and included

During a far-ranging, one-hour chat at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday, pop culture icon William Shatner insisted that the creator of the Star Trek universe would be extremely unhappy with the new Trek shows coming out on Paramount+.
Writer and producer Gene Roddenberry created Star Trek for NBC television back in 1964 when he began filming the series’ first pilot. The show was not picked up from that effort, but NBC did give Gene another chance and asked him to make a few changes and craft another pilot.
The second pilot, which brought on William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk,

Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday claimed Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' law is keeping teachers of young students from the ability to 'love openly.'
Harris had been asked about why young people, who have been largely disenchanted with the Biden administration, should keep turning out at the ballot box. She warned that it was a matter of the fundamental right to vote.
'We all know your right to vote and the action of voting unlocks all the other rights, including same-sex marriage,' the vice president said during an interview with journalist Brian Tyler Cohen.'Including whether we are going to stand up against a law that says "Don't Say Gay,"

Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she believes opposition to same-sex marriage is wrong and that Congress should vote to protect it.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “One issue, one question about a vote that you passed. You are one of 47 House Republicans who voted this week to codify same-sex marriage protections. The culmination of a remarkable personal evolution for you. You used to oppose same-sex marriage. That infamously went to a public falling out with your own sister. What’s your message to any Senate Republican who’s on the fence about voting for this bill?”

Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she believes former President Donald Trump “engaged in the most serious misconduct of any president in the history of our nation.”
Cheney said. “I think the committee has produced and provided and gathered a tremendous man for information. We’re not finished yet. Certainly, it’s clear if you look at Judge Carter’s opinion. He believes that it’s more likely than not that President Trump committed at least two federal crimes. I think we certainly, we have not decided yet as a committee for going to make criminal referrals, but that’s something we’re looking at.”

The historic surge of illegal immigrants across America’s southern border is fueling a hidden crime spree few in Washington seem willing or able to address: widespread identity theft victimizing unwitting Americans, perpetrated by migrants who need U.S. credentials to work.
An extensive review of government reports, think-tank research, news accounts, and interviews with policymakers and scholars suggests the problem involves millions of people—though measuring it with precision is difficult because of the lack of data provided by authorities.
A telling indication of the scope of the criminality is provided by a little-known government accounting book, the Social Security Administration’s Earnings Suspense File (ESF).
