The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision allowing states to ban abortion stirred alarm Friday among LGBTQ advocates, who feared that the ruling could someday allow a rollback of legal protections for gay relationships, including the right for same-sex couples to marry.
In the court’s majority opinion overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, Justice Samuel Alito said the decision applied only to abortion. But critics of the court’s conservative majority gave the statement no credence.
“I don’t buy that at all,” said Lawrence Gostin, a professor of medicine at Georgetown University and faculty director of its Institute for National and Global Health Law.

If they were decided on the same basis as Roe, then I'm fine with it! Slay the sacred Liberal Cows and ring in Freedom and Justice throughout the Land!!
Democrats have been abusing the Constitution and the Law since just after the founding. Time to take back what they stole and defrauded us of.

LGBTQ = "Let's Get Biden To Quit!"
.... and if there's a "+" tagged on the end, that means
"And take Heels-Up Harris with you! She Goes Too!"

Oh, please. The DNC, Planned Parenthood and the rest of the cabal have had their signs printed and their talking points prepared for weeks. They know perfectly well abortion laws will now revert to the states and that restrictions on the rest of their “rights” are not in jeopardy. This is a giant cash-raising gimmick for them. Never forget…it’s about power and money.

Must be a permanent part of the media's template now. LGBTQ, communities of color, and upper-class liberal woman are always in 'grave danger'.

I do not give a rip if a same sex couple want to create a legally binding civil union for legal, medical, etc purposes. Grown-ups should be able to do what they like with their money, their privacy, their life decisions without fear of governmental or other interference. And just as I do not wish the government in my bedroom, neither do they. That said calling these legal Unions a "marriage" and giving it the same status in society as "man and wife" is not correct in my view.
But then I also think the government should get out of the "marriage" business. The connotation of "marriage" is religious. Little old widowed people who find love again in late life and do not wish to lose the benefits they have worked hard for their whole lives should have the option to get married in the church or form a religious union without the government interfering or facing the scorn of the scandal of "living in sin." I know there are priests in my faith that ONLY conduct religious marriages (thanks to state sanctioned homosexual "marriage"). If you want government recognition as well as God's, you have to go to city hall.

Dobbs put in place the legal reasoning with which to reverse Obergefell. The judicial activism over legislation that rammed abortion, forced bussing and SSM was (and is) a house of cards. Dobbs just opened the gates to overturn Obergefell and Lawrence v Texas, among others, over bad SCOTUS precedents that marginalized states rights and fatally damaged US society.

Marriage has historically been a religious or cultural institution. Marriage licenses are issued by the states, not the federal government. And, every state has their own laws regarding marriage. Age, how far down the family tree you can marry, residency etc.
The supreme court was wrong on same sex marriage. That's a decision at the state level. However, in keeping with the constitution, a marriage approved in one state must be recognized in all states.

The constitution doesn't mention sex. That said, absolutely none of my business who anyone has sex with so long as of legal age and it is consensual.

People do know that the Supreme Court only takes cases put in front of it.
SCOTUS can't just ick an issue out of the air and opine.

NOTHING has been "rolled back". It has been returned to the states, as is should always have been.
They are always screaming hysterically about "our democracy" (ignorant twits that they are).....well, you freaking "Democrats".....now you go to your state legislature and see what your "demcratic" process will get you.
Turns out they aren't actually for a democratic process in this republic, they want TOTALITARIANISM by judges. And when it is put back to a fair vote in state legislatures they have a giant HISSY FIT.
