Ignorant CNN Tells Conservative NYT Columnist,
Film Critic: ‘Stop Writing About Movies’

CNN senior writer Brian Lowry, and by extension CNN media reporter Brian Stelter (host of the reliably slanted Reliable Sources), mocked right-of-center New York Times columnist Ross Douthat for daring to write about two new movies in his latest column, even though he’s been a movie critic for National Review for over a decade. It’s the latest demonstration of the mainstream press failing to follow or try to understand conservative media. Stelter’s June 19 newsletter included a snotty take from Lowry that suggested Times op-ed columnists, and Douthat in particular, should stick to their knitting and leave pop culture analysis to the so-called experts, i.e. credentialed film critics.

Joe Biden's Reported Position on Court-Packing

Is Joe Biden admitting that he knows the Democrats are going to get shellacked in the midterms and he’s hedging his bets? It just might be, given what White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Saturday. When Joe Biden was in the Senate, he was a strong defender of the filibuster. But over the past couple of years, as the Democrats have been screaming their heads off to get rid of the filibuster–to be able to deal with the bare majority that they have in the Senate. Biden has been cagey in the past on Court-packing and the filibuster. He wasn’t for sharing his position. Then, in January,

After handing over a "firehose" of user data earlier this month, Twitter has reportedly given Elon Musk even more. Insider reports that Musk's legal team sent a letter to Twitter's board last week, claiming that the data received so far was "not adequate." Sources told the outlet that Musk was "unhappy" with the data received because his team was unable to perform their own tests to determine the percentage of spam and fake accounts. The new data reportedly includes real-time API information, which Musk's team says will allow them to conduct their own analysis, according to Insider.

Abortion, the No. 1 concern in today’s media and politics, ranks nearly dead last among areas voters care about as they struggle with paying daily bills, soaring inflation, and interest rate hikes, according to a just-released survey. While the Supreme Court’s decision overruling the 1973 Roe v. Wade right to abortion has dominated today’s network and cable coverage, the latest McLaughlin & Associates poll said just 5% of voters call it a top concern. Just below abortion, at 1%, is reviewing the 2020 election, over which the media are also obsessing. By comparison, 54% cited the economy. “Only 5% said abortion was top issue. That might change a little, but not with people

Two of the primary providers in Texas ceased performing abortions on Friday after the Attorney General warned they could be prosecuted immediately. “Some prosecutors may choose to immediately pursue criminal prosecutions based on violations of Texas abortion prohibitions predating Roe that were never repealed by the Texas Legislature,” AG Ken Paxton said in a written opinion issued following the court’s ruling. “Although these statutes were unenforceable while Roe was on the books, they are still Texas law,” Paxton wrote. “Under these pre-Roe statutes, abortion providers could be criminally liable for providing abortions starting today.”

The House of Representatives on Friday passed the most sweeping gun control bill in nearly 30 years in a 234 -193 vote as Congress responds to gun violence across the nation. The legislation garnered some GOP support with 14 House Republicans crossing party lines to vote in favor of the measure. The bill, which will now head to the president’s desk, passed the Senate with a 65-33 vote late Thursday night. Ten Senate Republicans and 10 Senate Democrats began negotiations on the legislation after two mass shootings in Buffalo, New York and Uvalde, Texas left dozens dead last month within a week of each other.

Washington - President Joe Biden pledged to take every step his administration can to protect abortion rights after the Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision on Friday, and called on voters to elect state and federal officials who will vote to allow the procedure. Biden spoke from the White House on the ruling that eliminates a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion after nearly 50 years. The decision is expected to lead to nearly half of U.S. states outlawing or severely restricting the medical procedure and will affect tens of millions of people. “I believe Roe v. Wade was the correct decision as a matter of constitutional

Friday’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade will make abortions illegal in Texas in 30 days. The Texas Legislature passed a “trigger law” in 2021 that makes performing abortions in Texas a felony 30 days after the Supreme Court overrules Roe v. Wade. “The U.S. Supreme Court correctly overturned Roe v. Wade and reinstated the right of states to protect innocent, unborn children,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a written statement following the SCOTUS decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. “Texas is a pro-life state, and we have taken significant action to protect the sanctity of life.”

As Redstate reported, in one of the biggest and most impactful stories of the last 50 years, Roe v. Wade has been overturned by the US Supreme Court. The leaked draft decision that pushed conversation and outrage for the last several months was real, and it has now been made official. States now have the right to regulate the brutal practice of abortion as they see fit, a move toward respect for human life and basic morality we haven’t seen in this country since slavery was abolished. It’s hard to overstate how big of a day this is for those who have fought so diligently to protect the lives of unborn babies.

Gannett, the nation’s largest newspaper chain, with more than 200 daily newspapers, announced this month that it’s walking away from opinion sections like the one you’re reading. USA Today’s liberal editorial page editor said they failed to “evolve.”  I know something about Gannett’s evolution since I was USA Today’s deputy editorial page editor until August, when I was demoted after I tweeted, “People who are pregnant are also women.” That idea was forbidden because a “news reporter” covering diversity, equity and inclusion wrote a story detailing how transgender men can get pregnant. I compounded my sin against this new orthodoxy by calling the idea that men can get pregnant an “opinion.”

The Supreme Court on Friday overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that legalized abortion, allowing a Mississippi law passed that bans abortions after 15 weeks to take effect. “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the 6-3 majority. The ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization means each state will now be able to determine its own regulations on abortion, including whether and when to prohibit abortion.

Democrats for years have been promoting the notion that Republicans are congenitally racist, regulur Bull Connors. It's the old Norman Rockwell painting of a little black girl clad in a white dress, being escorted by lawmen into a desegregating school in Mississippi, with foul racist graffiti and tomato stains on the wall behind her, that serves as their template for Republicans -- despite the fact that the people who opposed desegregation in the Deep South were Democrats. Some were already waiting outside when the clinic opened at 9 a.m., doing their best to ignore a group of protesters at the parking lot entrance, shouting at them through a loudspeaker. “You don’t have to go in!” the activists pleaded with the women. “They murder babies!” The clinic’s longtime owner, Dr. Alan Braid, was back in his office when his daughter, Andrea Gallegos, the executive administrator, ducked in. “It’s out. The decision’s out,” she said. “Full overturn.” Braid cursed. Then he began to tear up.
