Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said the gunman who shot and killed two El Monte police officers had “no history of violence” as he defended how his office handled a recent weapons case against the cop killer. Shooter William Flores was out on probation – though he could have been behind bars — following a 2021 plea deal connected to a drugs and weapons arrest when he shot and killed El Monte Corporal Michael Paredes, 42, and officer Joseph Santana, 31 on June 14. Gascon, during Tuesday afternoon’s press conference, argued Flores’ criminal history “did not contain any evidence of violence,”

Cripes. If Gascon had been around when Manson was out killing, he and his family would still be out on the street. Along with the Zodiac killer and the Menendez brothers.

It has nothing to do with his "history of violence". It is the history of his criminal behavior in total. Vote this sucker out of office.

What this country needs is Victim Justice Reform. FYI...the taxpayers might be on the hook for the cop murderer's funeral. But since he might have killed himself maybe not, though I'm sure Gascon will find some way to make them pay.

typical BS in the form of non-sequitirs. if i read the article right he was a convicted felon in violation of the law by possessing a weapon. he's a repeat offender that deserved additional jail time.

Wouldn't a charge combining drugs and guns be considered an act of violence? If so, wouldn't that be part of a person's history as violent behavior?

He was a felon in possession of a gun and drugs, yet the DA thought that he should be allowed to roam free.

Gascon has read the "law" and it isn't quite written the way he wants it written so, his interpretation of the "law" fits quite nicely into his administration of the "law", then it becomes Gascon's "law" there must be a personality disorder with his name on it somewhere in the DSM-5

If George gascon (acolyte of George Soros) had his way Pelican Bay prison (worst of the worst) would remain open but the rest...san Quentin, Folsom, Chino etc....would be gradually closed with inmates released. The LA County DA is soft, squishy soft on crime which reflects current Democrat Party thinking.

On the one hand, these idiot prosecutors want to make it hard for law-abiding people to own guns but don't consider illegal ownership of a gun by a felon to be a serious crime for which someone should be in prison for.

To paraphrase the great John Bradford, “There, but for the Grace of God, go we.” Considering the high-profile status that Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has achieved, it’s easy to forget that he almost lost his state’s gubernatorial election four years ago. He may be the front runner to succeed Donald Trump as the GOP’s presidential nominee during the next election cycle should Trump decide to sit it out, but in 2018 Governor DeSantis barely squeaked by the Democrats’ candidate, former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum. Fortunately for Florida, and indeed for all Americans, DeSantis succeeded in defeating Gillum the last time around,

Crysta Abelseth told WBRZ that she was raped at 16 years old when a man nearly twice her age promised to give her a ride home from a local restaurant after a night out with friends. “Instead of bringing me home, he brought me to his house,” Abelseth said about John Barnes, who was 30 at the time. “Once inside, he raped me on his living room couch.”

It wasn’t that long ago when the left’s narrative on ‘gay rights’ was simple, straightforward, and easy to support: Let’s all be tolerant of one another, live and let live, and don’t discriminate. Tolerance is, after all, one of the fundamental tenets of the philosophy which drove America’s founding. But as the saying goes, “give someone an inch and they’ll take a mile,” which is the situation in which we find ourselves today. The message of ‘tolerance’ eventually morphed into ‘acceptance.’ At some point late in the Obama Administration, our culture decided that it was inadequate to merely tolerate the shenanigans of the LGBTQ community, we needed to welcome them.

The contrast in the levels of taxation between Red states and Blue states is well documented. Folks in Democrat-run states like Massachusetts and New York pay exorbitantly high taxes, apparently for the privilege of living in a state that disregards basic freedoms. Whereas those in Republican-run states such as Indiana and Florida typically pay far less in taxes. But when it comes to citing the most extreme example of high tax rates – whether we’re talking about sales tax, gas tax, income tax, or property tax – California is almost always at the top of the list. After tragedies like the horrific school shooting in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday, we learn a lot about our political figures. In the aftermath of 9/11, we saw the epitome of leadership with then-Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani, earning him the unofficial title of “America’s Mayor” and the recognition of leftwing Time magazine’s “Person of the Year.” When Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi’s henchman blew up Pan Am flight 103 in 1988, killing scores of innocent Americans, President Ronald Reagan didn’t just retaliate, he bombed Gadhafi’s house, and Gadhafi went into hiding for decades. Those are examples of true leadership following a tragedy. And then, we have clowns like Beto O’Rourke.

Chicago is a mess, and the staff at The Blue State Conservative has been documenting the city’s descent into complete lawlessness for months now. Violent crime is out of control in the Windy City under Mayor Lori Lightfoot, with almost 800 murders last year, record-breaking violence in its most problematic neighborhoods, and more murders than any other city in the country despite only being the third-largest. Chicago has been run exclusively by Democrats for over 90 years, and Illinois, the state in which Chicago lies, is run by a Democratic governor and legislature. Democrats have complete control of Chicago and Illinois as a whole.

The Biden administration on Tuesday proposed changes to the federal civil-rights statute banning sex discrimination in federally funded education programs, including expanding protections to sexual orientation and gender identity. One proposed change “would make clear that preventing any person from participating in an education program or activity consistent with their gender identity would subject them to more than de minimis harm on the basis of sex and therefore be prohibited, unless otherwise permitted by Title IX or the regulations.” If adopted, the rule change would bar universities and any other federally funded institutions from maintaining men’s and women’s sports and sex-segregated spaces like locker rooms and dormitories.
