In what conservatives will surely label a “sell-out” by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the Senate Minority Leader on Thursday “encouraged” Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) to work with Senate Democrats to “find a consensus on some legislation to respond to the shooting in Texas.”
Translation: Gun-control legislation.
As reported by CNN, McConnell met with Cornyn early Thursday and encouraged the senior senator from Texas to begin discussions with key Democrats, including Sens. Chris Murphy of Connecticut and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, to see if they can find a middle ground on legislation.
On Wednesday, Beto O’Rourke disrupted the press conference of Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas officials to appeal to people on the left and look as though he was doing something about mass shootings in his run for governor. But it didn’t go over well, rightly being termed a crass political stunt by many, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), one of the officials who were on the stage having to address the tragedy.

The more we listen to and watch Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis speak, the more impressive he is. His skill set, which was partially developed at both Harvard and Yale, is beyond anything we’ve seen from a Democrat in years.

He almost always cites facts and data when making his points, something Democrats almost never do, and as a result, he’s persuasive. DeSantis has a gift. The White House defended President Joe Biden's economic record on Monday as the nation experienced historic inflation, gas prices over $5 a galloon and the stock market dropping.White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre argued President Biden actually made historic economic gains, which would help the American people go through these economic 'challenges.'She blamed inflation - prices in May were 8.6% higher than a year earlier - the greatest increase since 1981 - on the covid pandemic and on Russian President Vladimir Putin's war in the Ukraine.
The national gas average hit a new record of $5.00 a gallon this week, and it doesn’t look like prices are going to fall anytime soon. Americans are frustrated with President Joe Biden’s lies about the economy, and many believe he is at fault for their wallets shrinking.
A new poll conducted by the Trafalgar Group found that over 53 percent of people “believe the Biden administration is intentionally letting gas prices rise to make Americans use less fossil fuels.”

The Washington state Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that a person’s race, and law enforcement’s long history of discrimination against people of color, should be taken into account when determining the legality of police seizures.
The court also clarified state law to say police have seized a person if an objective observer would conclude that the person was not free to leave or refuse a request. But, the court wrote, that “objective observer” must be aware that discrimination and biases “have resulted in disproportionate police contacts, investigative seizures, and uses of force against Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.”
Earlier this afternoon former AG Bill Barr laughed hysterically when he was asked about the evidence of voter fraud presented by “2000 Mules” during his pre-recorded testimony at the Jan 6 show trial. “Uh, the election was not stolen by fraud.
