Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) has given the world plenty of examples showing why America should run from socialized medicine, such as soulless, bureaucratic decision-making and long wait times for planned procedures. Now, a shocking new video shows yet another reason: insufficient service for the community, resulting in waits of seven-and-a-half hours and up for emergency room visitors to see a doctor.
A video that was taken in the Harlow A&E (Accident and Emergency) waiting room, part of the Princess Alexandra hospital NHS trust in Essex, UK, has gone viral. Filmed late Monday afternoon, the footage shows a nurse addressing the people waiting in the crowded room.

No surprise. Socialist minded people have turned health care upside down. What was a very good system prior to Obamacare is now a nightmare. It appears the only people who benefit from socialized medicine are the bureaucrats and big medicine, and big Pharma. The patients? Not so much.

Want better health care? Pay for it yourself! Stop expecting other people to pick up your tab.

Don't get sick.
If you do, die quickly.
Some Democrat used this to defend Obamacare against Republican critics.
The irony of it is that it most definitely applies to socialized medicine including Obamacare.
My cardiologist ordered a cardiac stress test using contrast. My insurance rejected it. Won't approve the contrast. Some bureaucrat/doctor who I never met or talked to decided what was best for me, and at the same time decided to tell my cardiologist how to do his job. Welcome to modern medicine! Just another example of some fool playing at being God. Stop and look, and one realized there are many examples of that behavior.

As I recall, their king of that era in post war UK, George VI, was totally against this NHS scam. He knew it was marxist and would destroy the nation's healthcare eventually. The day seems to have arrived and he has been proven correct. There is no excuse for this stuff, none.

#2, and if the cost is beyond the budget, then just die. Right?

I was under the impression this is the expected wait here in the US. I've not gone to the ER when I should have because I didn't want to wait for hours. I once waited for 2 hours in the exam room of a private physician. I was really sick or I wouldn't have waited. She did nothing for me. I was nearly dead 2 weeks later with the same illness.

Back in 2010, I was in London on business and had my family with me. My daughter contracted bronchitis on the flight over and I went to the hotel concierge to find out where to take her to get some antibiotics and how to go about paying for it. On which she replied, “Oh, that’s right. You Americans have to pay for your health care.” I just looked at her for several seconds and then asked if she paid taxes. The question went right over her head. Six hours later, we finally left a walk-in clinic with some antibiotics.
In contrast, last week my 11 month old granddaughter took a fall and was unconscious for about a minute. After a 911 call an ambulance arrived within minutes, she was take to the hospital and within the next 60 minutes, she was admitted, hooked up to an IV, had imaging done, was pronounced unhurt other than a couple of bruises and released.
Socialism vs capitalism. There you have it.

Given the crush of illegals here, the result can be the same. This is especially true in smaller rural communities where illegals work the farms and businesses.

One of the problems with Health Services is no one should be denied coverage due to being poor, that's not socialism just fairness. That said the real problem is the high costs of medical care, no one but the very rich can really afford it. Sure you may be able to afford normal day to day coverage but when you have to spend time in a hospital no one can afford more than a few days. The only real fix is to address those high costs and much of the cost go to lawyers and the uninsured, not doctors. Tort reform would do the most to lower the costs but of course lawyers are the Democrats number 1 special interest and everything Democrats do is to reward their special interests. As I have said many times, Democrats are the cause of all our problems.

We are told healthcare is a necessity.
The problem is healthcare prices make it a luxury.
So which is it? It's obvious nobody wants to pay for healthcare.

Government run ANYTHING is pure manure. Always. It is a certainty.
When you take the profit and pricing economic balancing systems, and consumer choice out of the whole thing, then the resulting "system" does not care about the patient, and makes the same money when the patient live or dies.
We really need to have a totally FOR PROFIT health care system, where we can choose what is best for us and pay for it. So many people have become so ingrained that they need "the insurance company" or "Medicare" to pay for their health care that they have agreed to a system which does NOT have any incentive to please them, to keep them alive other than their "good intentions", and those don't go far when you are sick.

No big surprise. This is what happens with socialized medicine EVERYWHERE.
I lived in Michigan in the 1980’s. We were an hour away from Ontario and their health care system. Anytime they encountered something serious, they sent the patient to Michigan. Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit was full of Canadian heart patients. Whenever a patient in Quebec needed an MRI, they were taken by ambulance to Vermont.
It’s a great system - until you get sick.
