Boeing may have to change paint job Trump
proposed on Air Force One because the
color is too dark and could cause the
engine to overheat

The Air Force revealed there's a design flaw in former President Donald Trump's wish to paint the presidential plane in his signature red, white and dark blue colors. Trump's plan for the two new 747s being built into flying White Houses called for the underside of the plane and its engine area to be painted dark blue. But that could contribute to excessive temperatures on the plane, a problem that Boeing would have to pay out-of-pocket to fix, Politico reported. Boeing has already lost nearly $1.1 billion so far in converting two 747 aircraft into new Air Force Ones and its CEO has expressed regret at taking on

Comments:

Here's that can-do American ingenuity on display. The B-2 flies just fine in black, Marine Two or whatever Dung's personal air taxi helicopter is called works fine in dark green, and the Blue Angels F-18s work in a lighter shade of dark blue, but navy blue is impossible. Does Boeing want more money, or does the US government instead want these jets painted in the Pride color scheme?

I'm no aviation engineer, nor paint expert, and I know heat responds differently to light and dark colors, but this seems odd to me. Any opinions here?

There is a massive amount of cold air getting sucked into those engines at all times. If the paint color makes one whit of difference, the plane is very poorly designed in the first place. If that were true it would have been apparent before now. This is just another trial balloon thrown out there to see who bites.

I did a quick google search. While white does seem to be the predominate color, the Seattle Seahawks, British Airways, United, Sky Gates etc have used or are using dark blue paint on their engines. If dark blue paint causes your engines to overheat, Ya'll need to go back to the drawing board. Maybe talk to Ford. Because their black cars and trucks seem to do just fine. Soooooo I call Barbara Streisand on this.

The real reason is the woke Air Force leadership want to revert back to the colors picked by Jackie Kennedy since Biden is in during the final construction and paint phase. Another slap at Trump.

Trump selected the “All American” red, white, and blue colors for those new Presidential aircraft, so it was certain that Biden would change them as he has been doing with everything else put in place by Trump. There is no doubt that the current Pentagon leadership would do backflips to please Biden if he decides to paint those aircraft in “equity” or “pride” colors.
