Yesterday, while voters elsewhere in California were casting ballots to recall far-left District Attorney Chesa Boudin in San Francisco for his soft-on-crime policies and subsequent skyrocketing violent crime rates, another DA 500 miles to the south was successful in her efforts to actually hold criminals accountable. According to multiple reports, a grand jury in San Diego indicted eleven Antifa counter-protest participants on Tuesday for allegedly attacking Pro-Trump demonstrators at a Pacific Beach march last January 9th, only three days after the infamous march and riot in Washington D.C. Of those indicted, ten have pleaded not guilty, while the eleventh is expected to be arraigned in a few weeks.

Comments:

They're only indictments, but it's a start. Let's hope they get the book thrown at them.

The only way California can reverse its falling down is for its voters (statewide) to think and act like the people of San Diego. Probability? Almost none.

I remember this. The Pro-Trump demonstrators weren't even there, most of those attacked were just trying to have a nice day at the beach.

Amber Heard's lead attorney has spoken out following her stunning civil suit loss and says the actress is unable to pay the $8.35 million in damages she owes Johnny Depp. Lawyer Elaine Charlson Bredhoft, who represented Heard at trial, appeared on the Today Show on Thursday and said that Heard has 'excellent grounds' to appeal the verdict and plans to do so. Asked if the Aquaman actress would be able to pay the damages she owes Depp after a jury vindicated his claims that she lied by accusing him of abuse during their marriage, Bredhoft replied: 'No, absolutely not.'

A man wielding a rifle near an elementary school in Toronto was shot and killed by police on Thursday. Police officers responding to a report of an armed man walking down a Toronto neighborhood street shot the man after he confronted officers, Toronto's police chief said. The incident led to the lockdown of five nearby schools, according to city officials. The shooting comes days after a gunman stormed an elementary school in Texas, killing 21 people.

One advantage the Republican Party has had over Democrats for several years now is moral credibility. When Harvard University and other Ivy League schools confessed to discriminating against applicants based on race and skin color, specifically against white and Asian students, Democrats had no problem with the practice, including President Joe Biden. Meanwhile, Republicans have been understandably vocal in denouncing the policies. Similarly, when racial bigotry rears its ugly head from Republicans, action is taken. When former Republican Iowa Congressman Steve King made “white supremacist” comments, he was rebuked by a vote of 416-1 in the House of Representatives,

One of the lowlights of the Sunday shows this weekend came when Speaker Nancy Pelosi showed up on CNN’s State of the Union with Dana Bash. Despite all of the other disasters going on around the world at the moment, Bash inevitably asked Pelosi about the leaked Supreme Court opinion indicating that the court is preparing to overturn Roe v Wade next month. Pelosi started off by branding the conservative justices on the court as being “dangerous,” threatening families, freedom, democracy, and probably puppies for good measure. But she wasn’t about to let the matter drop there.

There are many fascinating aspects of the modern left that are truly a marvel to watch, and their total lack of self-awareness my be at the top of the list. Living in an echo chamber as they do, they face no accountability from their media. They’re neither questioned on their hypocrisy nor asked to rationalize it. Star Wars references aside, Hillary Clinton was recently named as a possible contender for not-so-conservative Megan McCain’s temporary replacement. One of the more ingenious aspects of our Constitution is its requirement that our military leaders are accountable to non-military officials. All our generals and admirals ultimately report to the Secretary of Defense and his underlings at the Pentagon who are part of the Executive Branch of government. Our Legislative Branch of government, aka Congress, is responsible for, among other things, funding and monitoring the Executive Branch, aka the White House, which is why we have committees such as the Senate Armed Services Committee.

It wasn’t that long ago when the left’s narrative on ‘gay rights’ was simple, straightforward, and easy to support: Let’s all be tolerant of one another, live and let live, and don’t discriminate. Tolerance is, after all, one of the fundamental tenets of the philosophy which drove America’s founding. But as the saying goes, “give someone an inch and they’ll take a mile,” which is the situation in which we find ourselves today. The message of ‘tolerance’ eventually morphed into ‘acceptance.’ At some point late in the Obama Administration, our culture decided that it was inadequate to merely tolerate the shenanigans of the LGBTQ community, we needed to welcome them.

Speculation is rife concerning the possible presidential candidates representing the two major parties as the nation approaches the 2024 elections. Everyone has an opinion, and the pundits are competing in the expertise sweepstakes. What can we say with some degree of plausibility? The Democrat roster is, by all accounts, dramatically uninspiring. Biden, who speaks in tongues, is plainly beyond redeeming; the question is whether he will manage to survive the year, let alone stumble, lollop, and whiffle to the end of his first term. Kamala Harris belongs in vaudeville or farce, given her talent for provoking laughter. Both will have to be retired in favor of an electable candidate. But who?

The series of hearings that will take place over the next several weeks begin with a prime-time session Thursday night in which the nine-member panel plans to give an overview of its 11-month investigation. More than 1,000 people have been interviewed by the panel, and only snippets of that testimony have been revealed to the public, mostly through court filings.

I thought it would be fun. That's what I told my friend Mack when I asked her to drive with me from New Orleans to Chicago and back in an electric car. I'd made long road trips before, surviving popped tires, blown headlights and shredded wheel-well liners in my 2008 Volkswagen Jetta. I figured driving the brand-new Kia EV6 I'd rented would be a piece of cake. If, that is, the public-charging infrastructure cooperated. We wouldn't be the first to test it.
