Last week, the New York Times published a hit piece on our friend Cleta Mitchell. Cleta, a top-notch lawyer, was a partner in an international law firm until she had to resign because leftists besieged her law firm’s clients, demanding that she be fired. She is now working on election integrity issues for the Conservative Partnership Institute.
The Times story lies from the top, beginning with its headline: “Lawyer Who Plotted to Overturn Trump Loss Recruits Election Deniers to Watch Over the Vote.” Mitchell did not “plot to overturn Trump loss,” she worked in a single state, Georgia, to examine and expose election integrity issues there. And the Times calls

Whenever I see a child who has clearly been corrupted by adults with LGBTQ agendas, I get angry at the kid’s father. Did he abandon his children to the full-time attentions of a deranged mother? Is he present but too whipped to be a strong father? What man would allow such a thing to be done to his son or daughter? Yes, the mother enrages me as well, but a society in which real men exist would never allow the over-the-top grooming and wholesale destruction of childhood innocence that goes on these days.
Real men are protectors. They instinctively defend the vulnerable and the innocent.

If a Martian landed on Earth and wanted to quickly determine how dangerous an area was, all he would need is a quick review of local gun laws: the stricter the gun laws, the more gun violence there will be. It is almost as absolute as the law of gravity.
How, then, can it be "common sense" to adopt the policies that have made Chicago; Washington, D.C.; and Detroit human target galleries? Democrats argue you have blood on your hands unless you join them in making all of America into the violence-free paradise that is Chicago. It is absurd nonsense.
The only thing that would make it more absurd

Some observers say Turkish Recep Erdogan is once again using migrants as a political weapon against Greece as at least 40,000 people so far this year have been been turned away at the border. The Greek Coast Guard has intercepted around 40,000 migrants attempting to enter the country from Turkey via the Aegean Sea.
“In the first four months of 2022, about 40,000 migrants tried to enter the country illegally,” Civil Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos revealed.
Observers say that Erdogan is once again using migrants as a weapon, this time to punish Greece for trying to block the sale of American fighter jets to Turkey.

I’ve never been one to celebrate anyone or anything based on measures I deem stupid. The dumber the irrelevant characteristic, however, the more “celebration-worthy” it is declared by the progressive left. This ethnicity month and that skin color month, then you have a different month for various types of music created by people who happen to have a preferred ethnicity or politically useful skin color. The Democrat Party spends so much time insisting on our differences that even people who used to enjoy this garbage are having enough of it.
Everyone knows June is “Pride Month.” It used to be “Gay Pride Month,”

I haven’t written much about the latest round of gun control hysteria, mostly because I have said everything I have to say on that topic many times over the years. The liberal solutions to mass shooting incidents, which are very rare, are every bit as silly and ineffective as their solutions to crime in general, which is ubiquitous and therefore vastly more important. Defunding the police makes about as much sense as banning some arbitrarily selected category of firearm. Neither measure will do anything to stem the tide of crime and violence that has swept over us.

Doomsday prophets warning that “the end is near” used to be rare and fringy; now they’re cutting-edge climate activists. On Friday, during the third set at the French Open tennis tournament as Norway’s Casper Ruud led Croatia’s Marin Cilic 4-1, the match was interrupted for fifteen minutes. Just as Ruud was about to serve, he instead watched incredulously as a “climate activist,” that is, a brainwashed lunatic, ran onto the court and tied herself by the neck to the net, to save the planet or something.
This comes just days after another “climate activist” at the Louvre in Paris jumped up from a wheelchair in front of shocked crowds

In the wake of the tragic massacre in Uvalde, Texas, in May that took the lives of 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School, it was probably inevitable that people would seek to lay blame for the shooting through the legal system. And just over a week later, that process has begun, according to NPR.
"A speech pathology clerk who hid during the May 24, 2022 massacre at Robb Elementary has started court proceedings against Savannah, Georgia-based gunmaker Daniel Defense.
It is the first reported legal action taken as a result of the mass shooting, which killed 21 children [sic] and two adults. While not a full-blown lawsuit,

The two former lawyers who threw a Molotov cocktail at a police car during the George Floyd riots have pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges and are expected to receive reduced sentences.
As we noted previously, they were originally facing a much harsher sentence.

I was chatting with a horrified Swedish visitor who described a visit to Nevada.
“There was this grandmother, an elderly lady, and she took out a gun from her purse,” he told me, shaking his head.
We were having this conversation in a city which had racked up 77 shootings in just one month.
Few New Yorkers legally own guns. The NYPD has issued around 40,000 handgun permits in a city of over 8 million. That’s around one handgun for every two-hundred New Yorkers.
Don’t assume that the parts of the city with the most guns are the most dangerous.
The vast majority of handgun permits are in Staten Island,

We’re now two days into “Pride Month” and everywhere we look, we’re assaulted by rainbows and declarations of pride in homosexuality and various and sundry perversions. My inbox is full of press releases from woke companies and organizations signaling their virtue for the month of June, and my Facebook feed is full of them as well. (In one sense it’s a good thing because now I know which companies do not support values that encourage human flourishing.)
The worst announcements I’ve seen come courtesy of the Marine Corps and the State Department: [Tweet] Does the Marine Corps stop every year to celebrate the contributions of Christians or Jews? How about homeschoolers?

Over the long weekend, President Biden delivered the commencement address at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. At the very beginning of his remarks, he told the graduating class a story about his own life and his personal tie to their prestigious institution. Here's the relevant clip: [Tweet] The anecdote garnered some attention among journalists who said they'd never heard it before: [Tweet] Perhaps they hadn't heard it before because it wasn't true:

Comments:
It's good that these two firebombers and Molotov cocktail dispensers are ex-lawyers, but after their extremely short (probably less than two years, maybe much less) stint in the Statesville gaol, I expect them to be fully active again burning and blowing stuff up until they're arrested a second time doing the same thing. Or dealt with summarily by a potential victim whose bullet is quicker than their firebomb.
