Republicans continue to lead Democrats and gain momentum on the generic congressional ballot in the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, after a slight dip last week following a recent school shooting in Texas and the gun rights battle.
As the Republicans look to retake control of Congress in the 2022 midterm elections only 158 days away, the most recent Rasmussen Reports survey showed the GOP expanded the lead by two points after a slight three-point dip from last week. The Republicans expanded the party’s lead to an eight-point difference. Forty-eight percent said they would vote for the generic Republican candidate, while only 40 percent said the generic Democrat candidate if the election was held “today.”

First on Fox - The lawyer who represented Covington Catholic student Nicholas Sandmann during his defamation cases has joined Kyle Rittenhouse’s legal team, and says there will be "at least 10" defamation lawsuits against prominent figures and companies for comments against the teenager.
"I’ve been hired to head the effort to determine whom to sue, when to sue, where to sue," Todd McMurtry, who now represents Rittenhouse, told Fox News Digital in a phone interview Thursday morning. "We're going to look at everything that's been said, determine which of those comments are legally actionable and proceed from there."
McMurtry said it’s "pretty much assured that there's probably 10 to 15

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate and current Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman had a stroke in May shortly before the primary and fortunately, he is recovering. But a lot of people, even some in the media, have raised questions because they feel they weren’t hearing the whole story behind the stroke from the Fetterman team–that the details that had been released indicated more serious issues that hadn’t been enunciated.
The Fetterman campaign had said previously that the pacemaker was helping regulate his atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm also known as A-fib, which led to his stroke in May. But outside doctors said that defibrillators are not used to treat A-fib, and questioned

The beleaguered White House press office suffered another blow this week with the departure of three key staffers for other positions in the executive branch — as a series of reports depict the West Wing in a constant state of chaos.
Mike Gwin, who has been the White House rapid response director since President Biden took office, will move to the Treasury Department and become deputy assistant secretary for public affairs. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre described Gwin as an “indispensable member of our team” whose “quiet talent, laser-focused approach, and eagerness to take on whatever challenge comes his way has made him a tremendous asset.”

The Biden Administration has reached the “you can’t fool all of the people all of the time” stage,” and the evidence shows Americans aren’t buying Biden’s excuses and blame-shifting.
The latest Gallup survey from late May is headlined, “Economic Pessimism Growing in the U.S.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index measured -45 in May, down from -39 in each of the previous two months. It is the lowest reading in Gallup’s trend during the coronavirus pandemic, and likely the lowest confidence has been since the tail end of the Great Recession in early 2009. . . Americans’ economic pessimism took a turn for the worse this month.

A federal grand jury has indicted Peter Navarro, a former Trump White House adviser, on criminal contempt of Congress charges over his refusal to cooperate in the House investigation of the January 6th attack.
The indictment comes after the House voted in April to refer Navarro to the Justice Department for failing to comply with a February subpoena from the House Select Committee on the January 6 Capitol riot.
Navarro was charged with one contempt count for his refusal to appear for a deposition, and another for his refusal to produce documents requested by the committee, despite the subpoena from the January 6 committee.

Politico reports on another reasons for Democrats to worry about the upcoming midterms. In deep blue California the number of ballots being returned in primaries is looking low so far.
After this week’s break in the primary calendar, seven states will hold elections on Tuesday. In the biggest of them, California, Democrats are already looking at some troubling early turnout numbers: So far, only about 2.2 million Californians have returned ballots. That’s less than a third of the total early vote at this point in California’s recall election last year.
Primary turnout is traditionally a poor indicator of general election turnout. But

President Biden said the Second Amendment is "not absolute" in a speech Thursday following a wave of mass shootings across the nation, pleading with to Congress to pass what he called "commonsense" gun control legislation, including reinstating an assault weapons ban, requiring background checks, and limiting magazine capacity.
The president, speaking from the Cross Hall of the White House, told Americans that the issue of restricting access to guns "is one of conscience and common sense."
"For so many of you at home, I want to be very clear – this is not about taking away anyone's guns," the president said. "It is not about vilifying gun owners. In fact,

Over the last several days, a deluge of insider stories dropped about the inner workings of the White House. Needless to say, none of them have painted a positive picture.
On Wednesday, news of infighting between Joe Biden and his staff broke, leaving the obvious question of who is actually in charge. One complaint revolved around the president’s handlers constantly coming behind him to change his statements. Another centered on Biden being so ill-informed about the various, mostly self-inflicted crises that have plagued his tenure.
Now, another report via CNN is offering more details about just how chaotic things are. With the White House adrift, the backstabbing has commenced.

Michael Avenatti, the former attorney for Stormy Daniels, was sentenced to four years in prison on Thursday for stealing nearly $300,000 in book advance money from the adult film star.
The sentencing comes after a federal jury convicted Avenatti in February of aggravated identity fraud and wire fraud, for which he faced up to two years in prison and 20 years in prison, respectively.
The jury found Avenatti stole two advance payments from Daniels in 2018 from a book deal she signed following the revelation that she received $130,000 in hush money from former President Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to remain quiet about an alleged affair she

Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna (CA) on Thursday slammed President Joe Biden for failing to reduce 40-year-high inflation.
In a New York Times article titled, “There Is Way More Biden Can Do to Lower Prices,” Khanna scolded Biden for failing to create a feasible plan to reduce the inflation his administration fueled. “There is no patience for incrementalism or political spin about economic numbers in these times. Democrats can’t just blame the Republicans for lacking a plan,” he wrote. “People elected us to solve problems. We told them that government could improve their lives and they want to see tangible action, movement and energy out of Washington.”
Khanna recognized Biden had mounted a public relations campaign
