A new political action committee has launched to call on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to run for president in 2024. The 'Ready for Ron' PAC is led by Ed Rollins, Ronald Reagan's campaign chairman in in 1984, the year he won a landslide victory and cinched 49 states, and Lilian Rodriguez-Baz, an appellate attorney and conservative activist. The draft committee is unaffiliated with DeSantis himself, and now is working to amass an army of supporters to convince him to run for president. The group avoided badmouthing former President Trump, who has consistently teased a 2024 race, but says they are moving in on DeSantis since Trump has not

DeSantis is the future of the Republican Party. He has nothing to gain by trying to take on Donald Trump in 2024!!! It would be political suicide for him.
No, DeSantis needs to be Trump's VP for his next term, and then president for the next 8 years.

I voted for Trump twice. Would not do so again, not with someone like DeSantis available.
If Trump supported DeSantis-- a big IF-- DeSantis would win easily, handily, without breaking a sweat.
The hard fact is-- and I'm stating this as a fact, whether it should be the case or not-- half the country loathes Trump. Another campaign will only further tear to pieces this already torn country. Yes, or course, the media will go after DeSantis viciously, but DeSantis has shown he can keep his cool.
You might love it that Trump cannot keep his cool, and that is your prerogative, but we are lucky to have survived thus far as a house divided.
(Please spare me the inanity of "Never Trumper!" As if Never Trumpers were those who voted for him twice. A mature intellect could accept differing opinion without lapsing into foolish caricature.)

Trump in 2024, DeSantis 2028 and 2032.....and I'll be lucky to be alive at that point.

No. The Democrats are going to have to endure Trump's second term that they stole. DeSantis is young. He is next, and for 8 years.

Ed Rollins didn't do much for Michele Bachmann's campaign as her manager.

I think it would be better if DeSantis were the Republican nominee in 2024, but there is no way he should jump into the race unless either Trump is not in the race or the two of them have some kind of deal.

They would split the vote and Harris would win by a few thousand fraudulent votes.
One candidate only, and as a FL resident I feel safer with DeSantis in Tallassee.

I’m ok with this! If Trump doesn’t stop whining about the last election he won’t beat Biden! Democrats cheat and the GOP/RNC is clueless! The election will not be about the last election! It will be about fixing 20 or 30 major Brandon screw ups! How to fix inflation, fix the value of the dollar, stop all war, stop abortion funding, give states back their rights, FREE THE PRISONERS IN DC HELD WITHOUT TRIAL after Jan 6th! Pardon every last one of them!!! If Trump only wants to talk about the past, I’m supporting Ron!!!

I don't care -at all- how many other people say they hate Trump. 99% of them are DNC and wouldn't vote for any Republican, anyway.
I vote for who I like.
Trump di a fine job.
I like Trump.
Trump gets my vote.
The crying and whining and mewling of Marxists has no impact on my decisions.

#3 When a race is close we should hold our nose, forget about our favorite choice, and go with the one most likely to win? Let your opposition dictate who you vote for. Go with the standard politician, the inside politics favorites that doesn't make waves? And, when we have a slam dunk, we should stick to the weasle doctrine, just to be safe? I follow the reasoning, but the GOP has already tried it for decades. Notice how that worked? Ask Pierre Delecto and Liz.. The DNC went a little left of the Left of Mao, forced Obamacare on a country that still doesn't want it, ran candidates that their base loved and America hated, and now hold the House, Senate and Presidency. Just some more facts to consider.

There is ZERO reason for DeSantis to be anyone’s VP. And then be saddled with however someone else’s term goes. DeSantis is strong enough to run for a president and while no one has taken more of an unjust beating than president Trump, he should not run again. 1. Enough geriatrics 2. It would be too much controversy and the country is so weary.

I sat in on a strategy meeting of some ten individuals with Ed Rollins around 1990. He's an expensive piece of work. He's always in it for himself. His hourly consulting rates were through the roof even back then. I don't trust him. DeSantis is too shrewd to put himself in a position where PDT becomes his antagonist, rather than his supporter.

Trump in 2024. DeSantis is smart, he’ll run for president in 2028 and he’ll win. Ed Rollins must be a secret Lincoln Project member.

To the posters who say Trump in 2024, then De Santis in 2028 and 2032, how often does it happen that the same party holds the presidency for 12 years? That’s not likely to happen. I’m with the ones who prefer a younger person as President, especially after having the doddering old senile fool we have now. I know Trump is in good shape, but age catches up with all of us.

Trump is battle-tested. Trump survived everything the evil Dems and the corrupt media threw at him. Trump is a known quantity -- the good, the bad, and the ugly. All Trump's closets have been emptied and all Trump's skeletons have been picked over -- the real ones and the made-up ones. DeSantis is good, but can he survive and win an election with the ferocious scrutiny and all the lies the evil schemers are preparing for him? Trump is a fighter.

#23 - "Trump survived everything the evil Dems and the corrupt media threw at him."
Then what happened in '20? How'd that fellow Biden get into the Oval Office? Trump didn't survive that election. He likely will not survive the next as the same UNIPARTY (including many "Republicans") powers will fix it again. Napoleon made it back from Elbe, got his invincible Grande Armée back together...and got beaten in a close battle at Waterloo. History often repeats.
