Former Fox News host Chris Wallace has landed a CNN primetime hosting gig a few weeks after his interview show on the doomed CNN+ app was canned. Wallace left Fox News in December after 18 years at the network to join the streaming service CNN+, on a reputed $12m-a-year deal.That was axed after just 22 days because of poor subscriber numbers.But Wallace, 74, is getting a second chance at the network this coming fall where he will host a primetime show on Sunday nights, CNN CEO Chris Licht announced at Warner Bros. The story on food prices keeps getting worse.
Food prices in May 2022 were a whopping 10.1% higher than prices in May 2021. The size of these food price increases have not been seen in over 40 years and are occurring across food categories, from fresh fruits (8.5%) to fish and seafood (12.2%).
Over the past nine months, each month’s year-over-year food price increase has been above 4%, with each successive month higher than the previous—starting at 4.6% in September and reaching 10.1% in May.
This data can make the situation sound so academic and impersonal.
Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot (D-IL), incensed by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ concurring opinion in the case which overturned Roe v. Wade, screamed to a crowd over the weekend, “F*** Clarence Thomas!”
In his concurrence, Thomas went farther than the other conservative justices, calling for the concept of substantive due process to be thrown out and reconsidering “all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell.” Griswold v. Connecticut enshrined the “right to privacy,” Lawrence v. Texas ruled that people had the right to “seek autonomy” in their private relationships, and Obergefell v. Hodges enshrined the right to same-sex marriage.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) slammed the Supreme Court for overruling Roe v. Wade, which send the abortion issue back to the states, in a letter to her Democratic colleagues on Monday.
“While this extremist Supreme Court works to punish and control the American people, Democrats must continue our fight to expand freedom in America,” she writes.
In the letter, she says that House Democrats are working on legislation to secure data in women’s reproductive health apps, insinuating that “this information could be used against women by a sinister prosecutor in a state that criminalizes abortion.” In addition,
