Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe announced on Monday that his nation had “run out” of petroleum-based fuel during a national address in which he predicted that the next two months will be “the most difficult ones of our lives,” Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.
“We have run out of petrol. … At the moment, we only have petrol stocks for a single day,” Wickremesinghe said on May 16. The prime minister revealed his government had likewise run out of foreign currency reserves needed to pay for three oil shipments on vessels docked outside Colombo’s harbor on Monday and “14 essential medicines,”
That would suck to be that poor. Here 's a suggestion to Sri Lanka. Just say "charge it" to my Shell Card please...then you don't have to pay for it.
If they say you don't have a Shell Credit Card...Call it a college loan and you should not have to pay it back.

The jerks in the government decided that all petroleum and not natural fertilizers would be banned from Sri Lanka. The result? A massive decrease in the amount of food raised because of failing crops. For the first time Sri Lanka had to import--not export--food and other agricultural products. Going "green" in Sri Lanka has been a total disaster. Government leaders are strictly to blame and no doubt keep their getaway plane at the airport feuled and ready to fly.

FTA: .. Sri Lanka’s federal government had run out of cash to pay its 1.4 million civil servants their salaries for the month of May and beyond.
Step right up and help them out Brandon. You did it for your pals in the Ukraine.

I suppose they'll eventually cross our borders, seek asylum and apply for a smorgasbord of government entitlements. Democrats would love that.

Democrat ideology will destroy anyone, any country, any corporation, any government that jumps on their irrational bandwagon. It’s practically a law of nature by now that has been proven over and over again. Abandon common sense, and you will be faced with one crisis after another. Eventually, you will be destroyed by your own bad choices.

The petrol shortage is already spreading elsewhere. I have family in western Canada who report that the provincial government has informed the public that gasoline and diesel supplies are critically low and to restrict travel to essential travel only and to carpool. Other news reports have surfaced here in America warning that diesel supplies are also critically low and will initially impact the eastern states and spread westward. It also appears that Canada and the US are diverting gas and diesel to Europe whose supplies from russia have been restricted or cutoff due to the Ukraine war.
Meanwhile, the electrical grid out west will be stretched to the limit this summer because more coal-fired generation plants have been closed and replaced with so-called renewables.
I often wonder how different things would be in the world day if it wasn't for the Great Election Fraud of 2020.

Sri Lanka is a self inflicted disaster by its leadership. People will say the people voted for it, but with election integrity like it is, I doubt they decided anything.
